Promise Rings and Venting

Ok in September I got my promise ring, it was white gold, 2 trillion cut aquamarines and had 3 diamonds on each side. Well I have had nothing but problems with the ring. We bought it from Rogers and Hollands at the mall. The first time we brought it in I had a chip in one of the stones. They sent it in and we got the stone replaced. When we got it back the stone was not color matched to the other stone and the stone was smaller than the other one, it did not even fit in the prongs. THey told me that they would find another stone and that I could wear the ring and then they would call me when the new stone came in. Well they never called. Then one prong came loose was sticking out and they fixed that in the store so I didn''t have to send it in. Then, there is more....My boyfriend and I went to brunch yesterday morning and as we were waiting for our food, the stone fell out.

I was not happy because this was the fourth time we had problems with the ring. We went in last night and then they gave us in store credit for the amount we paid for the ring. Well we got the ring on sale and we had to pick out another ring. Well they were so over priced that we had to pick out a ring that was twice the price as the first. Such a pain in the .....you know where. So i picked out a sapphire and diamond plain band. THen they told me, "oh well we have to special order your ring, its going to take 3 weeks"

what a load of crap. So not only am I out of a ring, I don''t have one that he gave me. Has anyone else had problems with this company?

OK this is the new ring, only it is rounded on the top and not square. Simple. But cute. We are thinking it might double as a wedding band....HE mentioned that! and he was looking at wedding bands for himself. So thats a good sign.....right?? Oh and the band has 5 diamonds and 5 sapphires not 4. They are .25 cw each...

Alexis, I''m so sorry to hear what happened. I myself am very sentimental about my jewelry and would be devastated to have to replace my promise ring. Your new ring is very nice though - are you planning on getting an engagement ring with aquamarine stones in the setting?

To answer your question, yes, I have a promise ring. My boyfriend bought it for my for our 6-month anniversary (we''re 2.5 years now) from Antique Jewelry Mall:

Well I had to return it and it sucked since I had it for like 2 graduations, during my commencement speech, my trips, and some other important things that happened. It just sucks that I had to do it, but it was just to much of a pain in the butt.

JenStone---the problem with aquamarine is that once it gets dirty it looks dull and never shiny. Even the natural oils from the skin can cause it to get dull. So probably not. I will have sapphires though. Maybe a tanzanite or something. I dunno. Well this way, we can kill 2 birds with one stone, I wont need a wedding band...LOL Now I just have to pay for his. The one he wants is like 4,000. Its white gold, and it has diamonds all over it. Go figure that guy wants the more expensive ring!!

I didn''t have a promise ring, but I had a pendant that he gave me after a little over a year together. Notice I say HAD. I lost it on Saturday and I''m devastated!!! It was a white gold infinity heart pendant with diamonds and I wore it everyday. We went shopping for a grill and patio furniture at Lowe''s on Saturday and it must have popped off when we were lifting boxes. I''ve had a little trouble with the chain lately... but the other times it has fallen off, it landed in my clothing so it was fine. Now it''s gone! I searched Lowes and the car, the house, everything... left a note for the lost and found at Lowes but nothing. I think somebody found it and kept it.

My birthday is in a few weeks and he asked if I wanted another and though I miss it desperately, I really wanted the next jewelery purchase to be THE purchase.

Oh sorry! I have a sapphire bracelet that he bought me and the clasp is always coming off and I am always afraid that I will loose it. Sorry. Hopefully (fingers crossed) someone will be honest and turn it in. You can only hope.....
