What does everyone think of double claw prongs for an emerald cut solitaire? I’m resetting my ring from cathedral to basket, and debating on getting double claw prongs vs. the single claw prongs I have now. Does anyone have any advice one way or another? Thank you! My diamond is 3.1 carats, if that makes a difference.

They are safer. My jeweller nearly had a heart attack when I asked him to clean my e ring. It’s over 4 carat radiant and is secured with only 4 (sharp) claws. It looks lovely as you can barely see the claws but they catch more easily. My stone has been able to wiggle once before and I had to have it tightened up.

He is desperate to get his hands on it and put double claws - or tabs - on the corners so it’s safe.

Thank you! Since I’m going from cathedral to basket, I’m losing that extra support so maybe double prongs would be a good idea.

I agree, I haven’t liked them till recently and now I think they look so elegant and classic with ECs. The one you linked is gorgeous with the bullet side stones!

@WellsyBells double claw all the way! I chipped on stone when I had single claw. my stone is 2.85 ct for reference.
