Hi all! My sister got engaged a few weeks ago. Her diamond is 1.5 GIA cert and she loves it. However, she is worried that the prongs are too big, do you think they look out of proportion?

No they look fine to me. This is my 1.34. 2F17F5A9-4DCF-4460-8263-77AD1DB96523.jpeg

It’s a personal choice. There is no right or wrong ratio with prongs, beyond far too thin or far too bulky, which those are not. The upside is a slightly beefier prong means a much more secure stone.

I don’t think they are too big at all. They look proportional and secure. Thin prongs look good but a good accodental smack (into a wall, which I always seem to do) is more likely to get it bent out of shape

The prongs are not too big. They will prove to be durable and within a couple of weeks, you will not see them as being anything unusual. So much jewelry is being made with overly thin and weak prongs, that normal, good weight, prongs do look more prominent.

I think they look perfect...not too big in my humble opinion.

This is the Tiffany’s iconic 6-prong setting (pic courtesy of Tiffany). I think it looks beautiful, classic and don’t think the prongs are too big at all. Plus it’s secured.

She asked her fiancé for a Tiffany style setting. I think it’s close enough!

I think the prongs look great!

They're not too big if she wants it to last. I think it's great and will stand the test of time.

Beautiful ring.

Instagram and other sites feature such whisper-thin items that well-made pieces may look clunky in comparison. I think the prongs look great and are in line with many of the Tiffany style rings shared on this site.

I think those are gooorgeous prongs! I love a nice, secure prong! It's more expensive to make them that way so a lot of vendors don't do it. It's a safer, more secure, and much prettier ( to my eyes) method! :)

Thank you all. I personally think the ring is beautiful and the prongs are perfect. We’re in the UK, told her I knew the people to ask! The experts! Lol.

Looks fine from a distance. Up close I would prefer smaller. But of course it’s what she thinks that matters. I do think they are beautifully shaped.

They look great. I would not even call them big or thick, let alone too big. They look average. Unless they paid extra for super dainty there is no problem here.
