I finally figured out why my neck has been bothering me since we got new TV.Its hanging above fire place and the distance is about 11'' to 12 feet.Wondering if anyone has experienced the same problem and what the proper hight should be.Our''s is about 5 feet to the bottom of the screen. Thanks

the tv should ideally be at eye level.
i have read about problems with ones neck with the tv above the fireplace. but, others have it there without complaints.

I''m not sure what the proper height is, but, the bottom of mine is at 36 inches and is at a 12 ft. viewing distance. It doesn''t give my any neck aches.

We have ours right above the fireplace, it's at about 5', and about 15' away, and we don't have any problems with it. I've heard that many people have this problem though.

Thanks so much for all your replies. Now I know that I am not the only one with "pain in the neck" with our TV.Never expected it . will have to have it moved lower. It looks cool above the fire place, but I do want to enjoy watching it.
Thanks again you are all great here on PS , one can get lots of help...Million thanks

Do you have a tilt mount? Ours isn''t above a fireplace, but it is a little higher than eye level. We put it on a tilt mount and aimed it a little downward so we can easily watch it from the sofa, but I like that I can also see it easily standing anywhere on the first level, including the kitchen.

Thanks: yes we have a tilt and it is at its maximum now.The person who installed it is coming tomorrow to see if there is a small possibility to do something else. It was a big job to put it up..Thanks

I don''t know about this...we chose to put ours on about a 3'' stand that also has storage about a foot away from the wall and it is at eye level when we sit on the sofa, so far it''s worked out well.
