I have come to the conclusion that the ring design i thought I wanted is totally not conducive to my lifestyle. Aka I am way too rough on my rings even when I try and baby them. I swear I was only rummaging through my purse.

Anyhow, I got this pretty cushiony sapphire from Tim at inorogems around christmas....2021. She is 8.98 x 7.76 see pic of dims. I have always wanted a round stone with pear sides. While this isn't a perfect round, I thought maybe chubby pears would work. Dissuade me, offer alternatives, or help me figure out proportions

Thanks in advance

You can make it work! Of course you can!!!

I've made various designs work before because I wanted things a certain way!!!! You go for it!!!

It has curves so pears would work IMHO.

However, I can visualise using round stones as side stones for a 3-stone ring instead of chubby pears.

Personal preferences and all that.

DK :))

Ooh

Are you thinking chubby pears /cleftless hearts or slender pears or….

semi bezel the pears at the ends to go prongless?

I love the idea of flanking this stone with pears. As dk mentioned, I always like to match silhouettes... so sharp-angled center stones with sharp-angled side stones... curved with curved, etc. I also like to match cutting styles, so step with step and brilliant with brilliant. It's not a hard and fast rule, of course, but I do think it creates better harmony in the finished piece. I look forward to seeing the completed ring! Lovely stone!! :geek2:

If I can't get pears large enough for my budget ill go round
Yes! Just thinking about little cubbies and a touch larger (zero self control)

I am really hoping I can find a pair that will mesh with the cushion. I have no idea on size but a diamond guy here is calling in a few for me to play with. At least I can get a sense of proportion and cost.

@Rfisher I def. Want those tips bezeled or v prong. I do not trust myself with uncovered pointy tips
