I agree that it should be closer to 1.5-1.6 mm so it doesn’t get misshapen over time. The bottom’s of rings seem to take the most abuse. My only other thought is the height on this. It looks close to your inspiration ring but it seems to be sitting a bit higher. Maybe if they could soften up the ‘V’ so they could drop the stone down a bit. I have two very similar ring sets that I wanted to have made as ‘flush fits’. They both are between 7.8-7.9 mm and around 2.5 carat stones so I know they can drop it down a bit if that is important to you.
This is an 8x10 emerald cut that has a height of 7.8 mm and I would say it is about medium height. I can still get gloves over it but I if it was any higher, I would be knocking it all over the place. The shape of the prongs allows it to be dropped down a bit so maybe they can follow this outline and then make it double claw prongs. I worked with my jeweler to get the shape as low as I could go while still getting that flush band.@swaye2010 hmmm I was thinking about that too. I’ve seen some solitaire cathedrals that looked low and smushed to me by Tianyu but don’t know the dimensions. Do you have a profile shot of the rings you’re talking about?
