blen, take them ALL before! No one had babies. I think I was about 34 weeks when we took the classes. They suggest you take them late in the game so it is all fresh.

Good to know! We''ve decided on childbirth and infant care for sure. Childbirth we can either take at 28-29 weeks or 36-37 weeks (they''re weekend afternoon classes), so I''d rather take it a little early than potentially not be able to before birth. The only infant care that fits into our schedule is at 34 weeks, which seems like a good time anyway. Hubby''s certified in CPR and says that he has a book that I can read on performing CPR on infants - how important is the hands on aspect of an infant CPR class?

Blen--i did not take any weekly classes (just one day at my hospital that was not overly helpful) but i do think they would be very valuable--esp if you have not done a lot of reading. I wanted to take a BF class but i don''t know how good that sort of thing is until you acutally start to nurse--it''s hard to know how your baby or your boobs will react so i think having some resources available post-partum is the best bet

Lili--Yay for new J pictures--More and more gorgeous by the month that child. People must stop you all the time just to look at her--she is so spunky and bright looking. Is she standing in that one with your hubby?

Steph--what a gorgeous boy you have--and great taste in clothes too

Hope you''ll post more when you get them from the photog.

Well, my NY''s resolution was to limit my personal computer use to 30 mins (i ussally spend an hour or so, a day) so I am off to bed...

Blen, if I had to do it all over again, I would have probably taken a breastfeeding class. I read a book, but it was really stressful in the hospital and it didn''t come natural to me. I finally called the lactation specialist in the hospital and that helped quite a bit...

Thank you Jas! I will post more when she sends them to me. I love your pic of your cutie with the hat on, so cute!

blen, I took the childbirth and breastfeeding classes and recommend them both. I made my hubby go with me too and he said I''ve destroyed breasts for him forever but it was good for both of us and for him to understand what I was going though.

I just renewed my infant CPR. I do think having the hands on practice is a good idea if possible. I''ve had to retrieve a paper napkin from Jake''s throat and I''m glad I''d had the hands on training and knew what to do.

burk- I can''t wait to see pics of T in the wedding. I bet she was a little star.

gotta run but wanted to say all the pics are adorable! this is my favorite thread by far

Love the new pics of all the cute babies/kiddos

Don’t have much time to catch up, but I want to comment on Bfing class.

Blen – We took a breastfeeding class (it was actually part of the childbirth classes that we took). I found it helpful because our teacher told us what to expect from the nurses and hospital in addition to breastfeeding techniques (the teacher is based out of our hospital). Also since I couldn’t get DH to read up on bfing, the class really helped me show him the help and support that I need from him. So for me, the helpfulness of the class was not the actual techniques (but I should say that bfing was pretty natural/easy for M and me; she latched great from the very beginning, and my milk came in within 2 days). I agree with everyone else that a postpartum support/help system for bfing is important. Since you have your m/w and 3 LCs at your pedi, I think you’ll be fine. I would look into LLL if you want to share experiences with other moms. For me, the greatest support was DH.

Going to catch up a bit....

Tacori~Tayva LOVES the L&L house and so has every other kid who has come to our house!

Tgal~I cannot believe how old Amelia looks in those pics! So cute! Glad your trip was a success!

Mrsm~That pic playing the piano is priceless! Such a cutie!

L2L~I''m late to your question, but just wanted to say that my daughter''s 1st birthday is January 18th
9.gif
and I was induced. My due date was Jan 23rd and they thought she was big and that''s why I was induced. Everything was smooth sailing (I only pushed 4 times and was only in labor for 11 hours total) and I will probably ask to be induced next time. I LOVED it! Good luck!!

LIA~I was sooo worried about swing naps, but T had reflux so it was good for her to sleep upright AND she napped beautifully in there! Coby is still so little that you are not spoiling him by rocking. Enjoy it while you can!
2.gif
And, going back to work is not easy. I was even sad going back today from Christmas break, but somehow we always make it through! We''re here for support!

Jas12~When do you go back to work? Going back today was rough. T was pretty sad when I let daycare, but I''m sure she''s socializing away as usual by now! Cute holiday pic of Co! He''s so handsome!

Diva~Lots of cute pics of your little man!! We hadn''t seen pictures of him in such a long time he almost looks like a different baby! Too cute! T had the rainforest jumperoo and LOVED it!! She would laugh and jump like crazy!

puffy~Cute pics of B!!! I like his Hawaiian shirt! My t wears a variety of shoes. Some from target, but she also has some Nikes and some pumas she wears. She also has a pair of robeez. No problems walking in any of them. Weird? Hope you find something that works for B!

Pave~So glad Tyler is doing well!! Keep us posted!

Okay. Missed many of you. Will be back!!

lili~LOVE the pics!! The tickle ones are my favs! Her festive clip is adorable. I lost T's snowman!
7.gif

steph~Your little man is soooo handsome. Those pics are awesome! Looking forward to seeing some more!

Tacori~I blow on T's face, too! She loves it, but doesn't blow back. That is so darn cute! And too funny about the phone. T puts hers up to her ear but doesn't say anything but jiberish! I totally missed out on that BFing thread. I had a hard time BFing and then quit because of T's intollerances, so I may have lost it right there with ya!
2.gif

iluv~That is so cute that your son is all about snowboarding!!

mrsm~That is great that Amelia is sleeping great...and a nap in the crib!! hurray!!

blen~We took a childbirth class. It was a lot of stuff I already knew from reading, but DH learned a lot. We also got a tour of the hospital and a lot of info that helped us know what to do "when the time came." I didn''t take any other classes because I read a lot and have been around babies a lot.

misspinky~I hopped over to your thread in BWW to comment, but just wanted to say Congrats again!!

I think I''m close to caught up...must go get some lunch, though!

I downloaded pics I took at the wedding and I really didn''t get any good ones of T, but I''ll post a couple tonight to tide you over until I get better ones from friends and family!

Me again.... pic of T''s invite (with some info "whited out" of course)

Hi Mommies, I need some advice. My goal for the next month is to get D on a good schedule that works for us since I will be returning to work next month (sadly
39.gif
). D has been a good sleeper lately. I''ve been able to get 7 consecutive hours of sleep for the past week or so and it feels so wonderful! Currently his feedings are approximately at 9AM, 12PM, 3PM, 6PM, 9PM, 12AM. For a week or two he was going 7-8 hours during the night. For the last two nights he''s gone 9 hours at night!
36.gif
I couldn''t be happier! Sometimes he''ll wake up and need his paci and a little comforting and he''ll go right back to sleep. He''s proven to us that he can definitely sleep through the night now. His current schedule doesn''t work for us when I return to work. I''ve tired to get the 9pm to be his last feeding but he seems to be a night owl and always wants that 12am feeding. Ideally, I''d like to get his last feeing to around 8pm then put him down for the night. My ideal schedule would be something like 7AM, 10AM, 1PM, 4PM, 8PM. Any advice on how to get there? Thanks in advance!

snlee~Tayva has always gone to bed early (she goes down at 7 or so and always has) so I don''t have any actual practical experience but I would assume that you can probably work to moving it up by going little by little. Try moving the 9pm feeding to 8:30 to start, therefore moving the midnight feeding to 11:30 and do that for a few days, then try moving it to 8 and so on? Just a thought. Good luck!

Snlee, I was going to suggest the same thing. Slowly move the times 20-30 mins every 3 days or so. I know that is what they suggest for sleep training so hopefully it will work nursing too.

Burk, T is so cute in that picture! Yay for her b-day. I am so glad she loves the L&L house. It really is a great toy. The Ts seem to have the same taste in toys. Tessa also LOVES her vtec baby laptop (and it''s very small!) Haha. She dances to it all the time. Wait til T blows back. It surprised me for sure b/c I had never seen her too that. Won''t be long I bet.

blen, we did CPR on baby dolls. My class only had two other couples so it was pretty hands on. Something good to know and my hospital actually offered that one for free so why not KWIM? The prepared childbirth was 2 afternoons and the BFing was just one day. I dragged DH with me. Only half the partners were there but it was helpful b/c after birth you are so tired and DH would remind me about certain things (hold position, latch, timing, etc) He was very into the idea of BFing after he found out all the benefits.

Thanks Burk. Cute bday invite! Glad the wedding went well!

Thanks Tacori!

I'll try slowly moving up each feeding 30 minutes at a time. I'll try to get it to 7AM, 10AM, 1PM, 3PM, 7PM, 10PM and hopefully when he's older, he won't need the last 10PM feeding. The problem I have with putting him on a schedule is if he's napping, I hate waking him up! Hopefully he'll catch on soon and go to bed for the night earlier.

Awwee...no one has a good soup recipe?

puffy
thanks. she''s a handful.
dh is not looking forward to the days when she starts walking.
yep, she just loves the sound of ripping papers.
she actually opened one of the gift before xmas
3.gif

hehe, my nephew is the same way. he didn''t want to open the gifts....liked them nicely wrapped.

jas
sorry to hear about your dh''s grandmother.
she lived a very full life.
so, how were your boys away from you that night?

Tacori
J has thunder thighs too.
Those babylegs are so tight on her upper legs, but loose on her calves.
Did you get yours yet? Would love to see T in them.
5.gif

Awwwe...so cute that T is picking up all these new tricks.
So was your face wet when she blew on you?
Hehe, too funny about the cellphone

checked out your wedding link.
you looked absolutely stunning and your dh is very handsome.
and of course, little J is beyond adorable :)

Speaking of weddings. I''ve looked at TGal''s and Tacori''s link too :P Gorgeous.

Burk
Glad to hear that T was a star at the wedding.
Can''t wait to see her picture.
Cute invite -- love the picture.....she''s just so pretty.

Hi gals...

First day back to work and swamped. But so glad to have computer time back, yay!

snlee, I agree...march the times back. I just had to do it again with Amelia because of the time change. If it doesn''t seem to be working doing it in 20-30 min increments (which I would try that to start), try doing a whole hour. That might seem drastic, but it worked well for Amelia for some reason when I was sleep training her. For this recent trip, we actually moved the schedule back 2.5 hours at a time every day, and that worked great.

I know they say don''t wake a sleeping baby, but I found waking them up a bit earlier in the morning helped. So maybe you can softly say his name at 8 am and see if he will stir then start the feedings right from there every 3 hours. Amelia seems to know that after that 4th feeding of the day, it''s time for permanent sleep (also because she has been "awake" for 12 hours, which includes naps of course). It was really strange...it was the pattern that seemed to be ingrained in her...not necessarily the time of day she went to bed, if that makes sense. Hence why we were able to reset her so easily in Oz and back.

lili, I will write more later to the group, but again, your beautiful J never ceases to amaze me. Those collage pics are awesome and she is SO adorable. What a personality she is!

Quick question of the day re: drool. Do your babies drool? Amelia is 9 months and doesn''t drool. I find this odd. My mom told me months ago that me and my brother never drooled nor put anything into our mouths. I said that''s weird because all babies drool and stuff things in their mouths. Lo and behold Amelia does neither. Just wondering if any of your babies were drool free? I actually wish she were more oral, because maybe then she would like food!!

Burk
Love T’s invite. The coloring and polka dots are awesome.
Snlee
Can’t believe you are going back to work next month already. It passed by so fast.
Good luck with moving up the 9pm nursing session. M nurses approx. 7:30am, 10:30am, 1:30pm, 3:30pm, 7:30pm and some cluster feeding before bed at 9:30pm – 10pm. Her bedtime seems late compared to other babies. I thought about moving it up, but her current “schedule” works for us. If we move her bedtime up, then I would get to spend time with her.

lili
Oh the Babylegs are the same way on M – loose on the ankles and calves and tight on the thighs.

On the topic of Babylegs, I mentioned that I got some NotSox on ebay. Well I haven’t received them a week after I ordered them. Thinking that it’s around holiday time, so I gave them a couple more days. But still nothing, so I contact them through ebay. They didn’t respond until after Christmas that there was a mess up and my order never shipped. Good thing I didn’t ordered them for Christmas gifts. So I was kind of annoyed at this point, but they said they will expedite the shipping. Anyways I finally received the shipment on Wed, which is 2 and ½ weeks after the order was placed. They put in two extra pairs of NotSox; I am kind of impressed by their customer service (that they compensate for the time).

Tgal
I would love for M to be drool-free or have less drool. Sometimes it''s not even drooling, she is just spitting her saliva out. It''s pretty bad; she get red rashes all over her neck. But I can''t really do much to help it.

lili, love your new avi! J is so pretty!

TGal, thanks for your advice. You got Amelia on a schedule early on so you must be doing something right!
1.gif
Having the 12 hour awake time then sleep ingrained in her is great! Hopefully D can get there too. D started drooling around 3 months. I drooled a lot when I was a baby and my brother not so much.

QT, I know what you mean. Having an early bedtime means getting to spend less time with D and that makes me sad. Wow, you are set with those BabyLegs! Doesn''t M have like 10 pairs now??

Hi Everyone!!! Just checking in quickly. Today was my first day back at work and it''s been a bit overwhelming trying to catch up at work but I will probably have more time to write as the week goes on. Just wanted to say that I LOVE all the baby pictures, they really made me smile in the middle of all my craziness at the office!

We''re doing well. Lucy started daycare this morning and her teachers absolutely LOVE her so it made me feel confident that she''s in good hands. She''s been a great baby, still only waking once during the night and I''d really like to eliminate that but I''m not sure how so if anyone has any advice, I''ll take it! She has a bottle at 7:00, then a bath, then pjs and asleep by 8 or 8:30 at the latest. I do a small dream feed at around 10 before I go to sleep--she totally doesn''t wake up but takes around 2-3 oz. Then she wakes up at around 3 or 3:30 for another bottle but goes right to sleep after it. ANd then she''s up for the day at around 6:30. I just wish she wasn''t waking up at all during the night but I probably shouldn''t complain!! She and Lily are becoming really cute together. Lucy stares at Lily like she''s in love with her and Lily runs around saying "Lucy, Lucy" all the time. Yesterday, I was sitting with them and they started giggling together and I nearly cried, it was the sweetest thing on earth and the best sound I''ve ever heard in my life. So things are pretty good for now, if only I could get through the pile of crap on my desk!!

Anyway, sorry for the selfish drive by. I will catch up this week for sure and get back to posting more regularly. Miss you all and hope everyone has a fantastic 2009!

Curly, your post made me tear up. I am no where ready for a second but the giggling girls sound so sweet. What a beautiful moment!

Lili, no it was a REAL blow! She has done that spit thing for awhile when she eats. SO gross. MIL actually encourages it by doing it back. I don''t get it. But this was a blow. She even made the sound. I got the baby legs. Not sure what I think. She has only worn one pair. I will see if I have a picture.

TGal, my daughter was a BORN drooler. She is also SO oral. Consider yourself LUCKY!

Curly, you actually made me want to have another kid! Almost. Hee hee. Glad to see you here!

Tacori, question for you as Tessa is almost the same age as my friend''s son. Do you have any recommendations on fantastic toys for a child Tessa''s age?

And while it''s easier that Amelia doesn''t drool, I still think it''s really weird. Going to ask the doc about it this Thursday at her 9 month checkup!

Thanks Skippy and iluvcarats.

Jas12
Thanks. She does get comments that she''s so alert.
She loves going out and seeing new things. It''s the getting there that''s a PITA.
Screamed bloody murder everytime she''s in the carseat -- yup, even with the bigger and comfier boulevard.

snlee
thanks. it''s hard getting a good profile shot of her since she''s always running toward the camera with her tongue sticking out.
anyway, can''t help you with your sleep routine as my J is still up at least 2x a night.
but do want to say good luck with it.

TGal, how much do you want to spend?

TGal
Aww....thanks.
I figured you ladies might like the collage since we can't post video
41.gif

Anyway, I don't think we (siblings and I) drooled when we were little.
Neither did my 2 nieces. My nephew didn't drool, but he did like to put things in his mouth,
but not to the extent that J does it. I told DH it must be from his side of the family as his nephew does
41.gif

Consider yourself lucky that Amelia is not so "oral" as Tessa put it.

QT
Hehe, sounds like most babies here have thunder thighs :P
Wow, you scored on the NotSox. M has a pair for each day of the week, with some to spare to accidents :)

Tacori
Hehe, I hear you on MIL encouraging Tessa with the spit thing.
My parents did the same thing with J on the raspberry.
My dad actually had a raspberry contest with her and she won
