Good to "see" you and your girls

Going back to work is the pits huh?
Don''t you just hate Jas12 for her close to a year of maternity leave? :P

I got all choked up too after reading about your girls giggling together.

lili your AV of J is so darling! while i was so happy when B started to walk, now it is such a pain to keep in under control. thank goodness he's good about holding hands when we are out. he will not sit in his stroller anymore. DH was not happy that he doesn't like his strollers anymore, considering how much i talked him into spending on 3 of the strollers. OOPS! well, there's always the next one right? J sure looks like she will be walking soon.

burk nice invite! but T doesn't make it very hard to do a cute invite since she's a doll
2.gif
right now, the only thing that works for B are crocs and soft soled shoes. the robeez, he slips and slides every where esp when he's trying to really take off and run away from me. i'll give the crocs a little bit then i'll try regular shoes again. that is so weird that T can walk in anything. i haven't really heard of that but good for her!!

snlee agreed with what everyone else said about moving up the bedtime slowly. but i just wanted to let you know that B was a night owl as well for a period of time cause DH and i were bad parents and stayed out late when he was a few months. anyways, we got him back on track pretty quickly. i just had to wake him in the morning a few times and the rest os history. but also keep in mind, you have got to do what is best for D and you guys.

tacori it would be a crazy day when T and B get together! i'm still amazed by B everyday!

tgal you are lucky that Amelia is not a drooler. B drooled like crazy, even got terrible drool rashes on the sides of his mouth. it finally started to calm down around 11 months or so. but he still drools and still does put EVERYTHING in his mouth.

qt YAY for the free notsox! seriously, how many pairs of those does M have? i just gave all of B's baby legs away to a friend's son who loved them since B wasn't using them anymore.

ETA: CURLY- glad that the girls are doing well. and that they are so into each other, that is just so sweet!!

puffy
thank you.
haha, dh and i are wondering the same about the stroller.
yup, still haven't bought a stroller for her yet.
we've been using the snap-n-go when she was younger.
but once she's able to hold her head up, she wanted to be upright and eye level to everything.
We'll get a stroller, but probably nothing fancy or expensive.

Tacori~Thanks! I cannot believe that she's going to turn one in two weeks! I may get our T the vtec laptop because she has the vtec piano and LOVES it. It's kind of big, but she carries it around anyway!
16.gif

snlee~I can totally understand wanting to spend more time and having a later bed time because of it. For us, Tayva just does not do well when we put her to bed later. She wakes around the same time and doesn't nap great. So, it's just better to put her to bed when she gets tired around 7 or so. Do what works best for your family!

lili~Thanks! My aunt said she has some good pics of T, so I'll have her get them to me ASAP so I can post some good pics! Love your new avatar! Looks like a professional pic! T used to crawl or cruise towards the camera with her tongue out too!! Now she just walks towards me trying to grab the camera. I can't win!!

Tgal~I agree with the others and say embrace the droolless baby!! T is sooo oral-everything goes in her mouth and she drools a lot still.

QT~Thanks! That's great that you got extra pairs of NotSox since it took so long!

curly~Awwww. So great that your two girls are already becoming great friends!! Good luck being back at work. I know how hard it is!

puffy~Thanks! Tayva slips a bit on our hardwoods when she's in PJ's or just socks but other than that she walks in every kind of shoe she has. I've always varied her shoes (since they are part of her outfits and she dresses better than me
41.gif
), so she learned to walk in all of them, so that's probably part of it. I'm sure B will adjust and he'll be wearing all those Nike's your husband bought in no time. They make some darn cute Nike shoes for the little ones!

well, first day back at school is over and it actually went kind of fast!! T played hard at daycare and only took one nap so she fell asleep in the car on the way home. I missed her so much I let her sleep in my arms!
23.gif
Bad mommy I know! My house is a disaster so I better go get things in order since T is in bed.

TGal, okay the toys she plays with everyday is the Laugh & Learn house (but it is like $70), Parents Bee Bop Band is a favorite. She loves her v-tec laptop. She has the 6 month one and carries it around everywhere. She also loves her baby doll stroller (and so does every kid, boy or girl, who come over) but not sure she would want that. Maybe another push toy (lawn mower type thing). She loves her vtec phone. It talks and sings to her. Her Gowi stacking cups are still a favorite. She doesn''t play with it everyday but she also likes her Laugh & Learn first purse. They make a toolbox that looks super cute. Also anything she can pull is a hit like the circo wooden block wagon thing at Target. I think I am going to buy her a bigger play car b/c she has a small one she got at a b-day party that she loves. She pushes it around on the floor (wheels down). She also loves balls. Hope that helps!

Lili, don''t you hate when they encourage bad behavior? I would just buy an umbrella at this point. I love my Volo.

puffy, B sounds really smart! Much smarter than T.

Burk, T tries to carry around really heavy, large things too.
20.gif
She has the 6 month laptop. I think they have a year one but I have never used that. I think the 6 month one is kinda complex. She didn''t "get" it when she was that young.

snlee
Yeah M has 12 pairs now. I didn''t plan to get so many. I was just going to get the NotSox since they were cheaper, but then babysnazz had the secret sale. Oh well I plan to have M use them when she is older too, so hopefully it''ll be worth it.

lili
Yeah enough for the days of the week plus accidents.
Love your new av. Look like a pro pic.

puffy
yike, 12 pairs. Too many.
25.gif
Maybe I''ll use some as arm warmer. I showed DH once, and he laughed at me.

tacori B has all those toys and those are favorites of his too, except for the doll stroller, and the purse, but he does have the toolbox. it's so funny that all the kiddies have the same toys. but i swear sometimes when i need to keep him busy when i'm fixing his meal, i give him a straw or one of his take and toss cups and he LOVES playing with those. he will take it from his high chair to his play room when he finishes eating.
oh and i totally thought of you today. a friend got a "leash" for B. haha!!! and the first thing that popped in my head was, "didn't Tacori mention she might have to consider one of these even though they are silly?" and i just laughed to myself. but thank goodness i do not have to "leash" him up.

burk i am hoping he adjusts soon to real shoes cause if not, we are out a lot of $$$ on shoes that we'll probably end up giving away or something. did you get T something fun for her birthday? can't wait for the pics of T at the wedding. how is she walking? i know, they have such cute kid shoes! and DH and i are both suckers for shoes for B. B has like 15 pairs of Jordans that he doesn't even fit yet, and DH thinks that is totally normal.

lili you are smart to not get a stroller! DH just asked me today where the BOB was cause he wanted to take B when he went for a jog so i tld him i let someone borrow it. so it was being used instead of sitting in the garage. maybe someday he will like the stroller again.
how is J? feeling better? and i wanted to also say that it's so great that J can drink from a straw! the little one is growing up!

qt as long as M uses them, 12 pairs is fine. i've actually seem people use them as arm warmers too. i don't think it looks weird, kinda cute actually.

Thanks Tacori...I was thinking of spending about 40-50 bucks so it seems that something should fit that budget. I will look into those all tomorrow when I take a break from work!

t-gal- Jake puts everything in his mouth but he does not drool at all . None of my kids did. My sisters kid drools all the time, my sister has to keep a bib on her so she doesn''t get her shirts wet. I don''t think it''s anything at all to worry about.

So, I took some time off the puffs b/c Jake was choking on them and just re-indroduced them a few days ago. The boy is addicted. he loves them and now has the hang of it and it''s funny to watch him chew. He''s pulling himself up on everything, chairs, stools, couch, crib and into everything. I''m wiped out just following him around. Our sleeping is so messed up since out trip home. For example, two nights ago: 10:30pm-Jake woke up, 2:37- lily was up, 4:00am-my oldest was up, 5:00- Jake again, 6:30 alarm to get up. Last night I went to bed at 8:00pm. jake was up at 10:00, again at 12:00, my DOG woke me up at 2:00 to go out, Jake again at 4:00, hubby was up at 5:00 and alarm at 6:30..I''m

I am exhausted just reading that Mrss!
I hope you get some sleep and tonight is better for you.

iluv~I forgot to say earlier that I think you should start a new thread to post a pic of your house! Maybe just use my username as the subject and then I''ll post a couple pics of my house in there too! I''m so excited to see your house!

Hi Burk
I''ll do that. I am so excited to see yours! I love old houses and architecture. I am very excited about your new project too!LOL

Tacori~I can''t believe some of the things T carries around or takes out of her toy box and puts back in repeatedly. Crazy kid. I am going to go check out the laptop. I really should be done since I know she''ll get a lot of gifts from family and friends, too.

QT~12 pairs!!! You crazy lady! We''ll probably need a couple pics of some of the new ones!
41.gif

Puffy~The little Jordans are soooo cute!! I''m sure he''ll adjust and be able to sport them at least a few times. There''s always the next kids too!
2.gif
We got her some clothes, books, and then the wagon full of legos and a vacuum cleaner for her birthday. I think she''s going to get a lot of gifts from others so I was trying to keep my purchasing in check. Her walking is pretty good. She still wobbles at times and tumbles and if she''s really in a hurry she''ll crawl sometimes because she knows it''s faster.

mrss~Oh my, you must be absolutely exhausted!!! Hopefully everyone will get back on schedule ASAP!!

Burk, I love the invitations and that is an adorable pic of Tayva!

lili- soup is a big favourite in our house. Most soup recipes work fine with a bit of adapting, if you can get hold of salt free stock cubes or baby stock cubes (I know you can buy these in the UK and they''re ok, if not delicious.) Main thing is not to add salt and I avoid using oil or dairy for Amelia at this stage (7 months). You can always make stock yourself so you know exactly what''s in it (I get a little paranoid!). Plain water does at a push, but the soup won''t have as much flavour. I''d use a little less water than I would stock, so the flavour isn''t too watery.

You could try:
Lentil soup
1 chopped onion
2 grated carrots
1 chopped leek
3 tablespoons of lentils
salt free baby stock cubes (veggie or ham) mixed up with about 1 litre of hot water

Cook the onions and leeks gently in a heavy pan with a couple of spoonfulls of the stock until they''re soft
Add the carrot and lentils
Pour in the stock
Cook until the lentils and veggies are done
Puree

or
Tomato and Veg (loads of vitamin C and iron in this one)
1 chopped onion
2 cans chopped tomatoes (check they don''t have any added salt or other ingredients) and a couple of spoonfuls of tomato paste
1 chopped zuchini
a few big handfulls of spinach leaves
1 chopped red or green sweet pepper
and / or any other veggies you have handy, the more the better...
stock or water, about 3/4 litre

cook the onions in a little water until they are soft
add the zuchini, peppers and spinach.
cook for a few minutes until the spinach is reduced in volume a little
add the tomatoes
simmer until everything is soft and well cooked, adding enough water or salt free baby stock cube (or homemade stock, if you''re really keen!)
Puree and if you want it really smooth, pass it through a sieve.
You can add fresh herbs to this - oregano, basil and parsley are nice. I use a couple of bayleaves too, but take them out before you puree.

This also makes a nice sauce for pasta, without the water or stock.

Celery Soup
1 head of celery, scrubbed and sliced
1 onion, chopped
1 leek, chopped
1 1/2 pints stock or water
fresh parsley and / or chives
2 bayleaves if you have them
if you''re using dairy, a splash of cream to finish this off is lovely.

cook the veg gently in a little stock or water with the bay leaves and the stalks of the parsley or a few chives.
Add the rest of the stock (slightly less if it''s just water, maybe just over a pint) and simmer gently for about 20 - 30 minutes.
Puree and serve with the rest of the herbs chopped and stirred in.
Add a splash of cream if you like, it''s really nice.
I sometimes add a little sweetcorn to this, and a little more after I''ve pureed it. Goes nice with the celery.

curly, I''m glad you check in. I always love reading your updates about your girls. Reading about your girls made me tear up too. So sweet!
30.gif

lili, I don''t know how you do it. Must be tough to go to work when you''re still waking up twice a night to nurse. I hope J starts sleeping longer hours soon!

puffy, we''ve been bad parents too. With the holidays, we were out late a number of nights. We came home earlier than usual but still late for a baby so now I''m working on getting him to sleep earlier. Although seems he''s always been a night owl. Probably because I was bad and didn''t get out of bed till late. I''m also trying to always put him down for naps so he can calm and put himself to sleep. We''ve been holding him way too much lately.

Mrs, sorry you''ve been having rough nights! I am tired just reading about it. I hope you can get some good sleep soon.

Jas, sorry missed your post earlier. Sorry to hear about your DH''s grandma. How did the boys do?

This morning we went on a playdate to a 18 month old''s house. I was SO embarrassed b/c Tessa kept stealing her crackers, toys, etc...She was being such a bully. I told her no, she had to share, blah blah, and I know she is young and doesn''t understand the sharing concept but still I was a little upset by it. Then something interesting happened. My neighbor had to take one of her twin boys to the doctor so I told her I would watch the other. He is going through the classic 12 month separation issues. He was so upset. So I had him on my lap and was trying to sooth him. Tessa walked over and kept patting his arm. She looked so concerned. So my sweet girl maybe *isn''t* such a bully.

puffy, I haven''t bought a leash yet but she still refuses to stay by us or hold our hands in public (let alone sit in the stroller) so I might break down.

TGal, you will find someone for sure. Her favorites seem pretty universal so those toy makers must know what they are doing!

MrsS, hope you get some sleep tonight! I might of missed it but is Jake crawling yet?

Burk, did you get the mini dyson? It looks so cute!

Jas, sorry for your loss. Hope you are all doing well!

Hi everyone else!
35.gif

Aww, Tacori of course she isn''t a bully! They just don''t get the concept of sharing at that age. A very wise teacher I used to work with once said that before age 2, everything should be about them, but after that age, they should understand they are not the center of the universe. She is a sweet girl!

Steph, thank you! I know she is too young to understand and truth be told the little girl stole a toy from Tessa too. It is so hard not to feel bad. Good to know it is normal, common, and she will grow out of it. I was so proud how comforting she was being
16.gif

tacori- I think you handled it just right with Tessa. They do have a hard time understanding what it means to share, but teaching them at this time is good. Tessa isn''t a bully, just a normal 1 year old curious little girl. Jake has been crawling for about a month now. He''s just everywhere. I had to make a giant playpen out of our family room to keep him contained where I can watch him and not have to chase him all over the place. My big girls do a pretty good job of keeping their tiny toys put away but one or two always get missed so I just have to watch him like a hawk and keep my house/floor spotless. I was teaching him how to roll a little basketball back and forth with me and he kinda got it which was fun.

MrsS, I was wondering if any of the 9 monthers had started yet. I hear ya about running around. Our family room is gated and everything is baby proofed so it makes my life SO much easier! Sometimes I am not sure how stern I am suppose to me. If I yell, she''ll cry. But I also want her to learn. Since we were at someone else''s house I just would give the toy/cookie back to the other little girl and tell her calmly what she did wrong. I figure tears+play dates=break downs.

Tacori~ I know exactly how you felt!! Tessa is NOT a bully. It sounds like she''s a very empathetic little girl! How sweet! Tayva pretty much tackled a 3 year-old boy on the dance floor the other night at my sister''s wedding and I was mortified. But, she really did mean well and she doesn''t understand that even though you like someone you cannot tackle them.
16.gif
And, no, we didn''t get the dyson. I''ve read terrible reviews so I was scared, although it is soooo cute!

So, Tayva has only been taking one nap at daycare.
38.gif
She takes about an hour or so in the morning and then they say she plays so well in the afternoon and doesn''t look tired. But, she has fallen asleep yesterday and today in the car on the way home. She napped for an hour tonight after we got home, then was so crabby and I had to put her to bed at 6:45. This isn''t going to work-I only got to see her happy for all of 30 minutes. Argh.

As promised, here are a few terrible pics from the wedding. We could not get one good family shot because Tayva kept waving at everyone! When I get better ones, I''ll post them!

What a GORGEOUS family!

Why thank you!

You''re welcome! Just the honest truth...
4.gif

Burk, your family is gorgeous!

Burk, love the pictures. Your family is beautiful. T is so cute! What''s the bottom left picture?

thanks Steph!

Snlee~Thanks! Bottom left is the background of my computer so that I could make it a complete square.
20.gif
Sorry it was confusing! I was only going to do 2 pics, but I just adore the pic with her and the other flower girl. They all played so nice in between the pictures and the actual ceremony.

tacori how cute that T was so comforting! and i also have to agree that it is totally normal she was like that. B is like that all the time when we are around kids his age. but whe we are around kids older, he is the one being picked on. it''s kinda funny though cause he will just sit there and let them take his toys, but with kids his age, he gets up and holds on to his toy for dear life.

mrsS you must be so tired! i hope all the kids get back to their normal routine soon.

burk BEAUTIFUL family! you look stunning and T is just a beauty! and i get what you mean by keeping the birthday shopping in check. she''s going to get soo many gifts. i hope you have a room cleared out to put all the toys in. can you have the daycare put her down for another nap even if she doesn''t seem tired? it''s worth a shot if that means YOU get more time with her after you pick her up.

snlee i hope it''s going well with D. and honestly if it doesn''t work with time change for him and new schedule, keep at it for a bit and he''ll get there. is he still sleeping well at night?

Burk your family is gorgeous! And I love both of the dresses!
