Jas, sorry to hear about the Shingles. Sending bucket of healthy dust your way~

jas12 yikes, sorry to hear about the shingles!! hope you are doing ok.

LIA well at least you know now to to rent a car seat! i hope you have a wonderful trip and hope Coby isn''t too much for you to handle, but ITA with TACORI, you should really try to get your DH to go along as well.

Burk hope you are all caught up with grades for conferences!

mrsb awww, that''s so sweet that little k is so affectionate. you must love his kisses and hugs!! B kisses me all the time and i never get tired of it! B also hates the car seat, how weird?!! he just hates the initial strapping in, then when he realizes we are going out, he''s ok cause he loves to be out and about.

tacori you are lucky that T sleeps well at night even when she is teething! B sleeps pretty well as well, but he has his times. if he is up and just kinda grunting, i''ll leave him alone, but is he actually calls for "mommy," then i will go get him. it hasn''t happened too many times, keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way. i love vegas as well, but this time will be drastically different with B, but i don''t mind. i''m sure he''ll love being there. we''re staying at wynn. it''s a little further but we have heard nothing but great things, and they upgraded me to an awesome suite for half price cause of my bday. haha!!

bobo honestly, i would look into another area. i don''t know, but for me, that would be kinda creepy and i would have my eyes on my kids ALL the time and not them go outside and play or whatever. are you looking to buy a house?

Jas12, I'm sorry to hear about the singles. Sending you buckets of healthy dust!!! Does that mean you can't BF Co right now? I hope that's not the case.
7.gif
Take care of yourself.

LIA, who is watching Coby while you're in meetings if your DH doesn't come? I hope he does come. I can imagine traveling with a little one alone is tough! You are right, Carmel is too far. I can do SF (although driving into the city and parking is a pain) or San Mateo (or anywhere in between) Sat night or Sun. Sounds like you have a busy schedule. If not this time then hopefully we can meet up in the future.

Ladies, quick drive by to do a survey. If you are currently in the process of purchasing a house and you found out there are 3 Sex offenders living within 3/4 mile of the house you are purchasing. Will you still buy the house?

Depends, but probably not unless it was THE house for many other reasons. Also would depend on why they are sex offenders. In some states you can be labelled a sex offender if you get caught streaking in college or something, which isn''t the same as someone who is a rapist in my book.

I''m going to slowly try and catch up. Bare with me!
2.gif

Puffy~I am so glad I''m not the only one who is continually explaining my parenting. Sucks! My MIL giving me a compliment actually started with DH saying that we do what we do with T because I''m such an awesome mom and I know best!
6.gif
I love DH.
16.gif

mrss~It''s so good to hear others experiences with classes and church nursery. DH is talking to the mom of his friend today to see if it would really be something she could work out. Loving T and wanting to do it, but actually being able to offer the time and commitment are two separate things.

Tacori~I totally plan to start the classes while I''m home this summer and then hopefully continue them next year when I''m part time. I think she''d really enjoy that (and so would I
41.gif
). I''m glad you were able to have some family time, if even only for a few hours.
2.gif
I was happy to get DH for an hour yesterday to go with T and I to Sam''s Club. Ah, the little things!
21.gif
Oh, and I totally think I figured out where your T picked up the marching thing...One episode of "Yo Gabba Gabba" DJ Lance does the DJ Lance dance called "the March" I was watching that episode with T yesterday and was like "Tessa does the march"
9.gif

Not done...be back

puffy, we are in a process of buying our first home and we found thru http://www.meganslaw.ca.gov that there are 3 sex offenders with 3/4 mile of the property. 1 rapist 2 child molester.

snlee--i am still BF b/c i am currently not taking anything.

LIA--my dr. wanted me to pump and dump if i went on an anit-viral--i may as well just wean if i do that as co will not take a bottle and has never had formula. Another dr. said i could continue to BF, so i''ll see what the pedi says. What do u think?

We go to see a pedi @ the hospital today to decide how/if to treat me and/or Co. Co is constantly fighting something off it seems (there are just so many colds going around here this year--everyone i know is sick all of the time) and he is super congested and having trouble breathing--so no naps for him. That. combined with my shingles, which are currently spreading up my neck, is reallllly stressing me out, i just want to cry
39.gif

Bobo~When Diva posted that website a few days back I searched our area and there are dozens within a mile of our home!
38.gif
I am not sure if 3 in the area we were going to buy a house would prevent me from buying the house. The way I see it, my kids won''t ever be outside unsupervised. Are there other houses you are potentially interested in? Have you checked them out?

Jas12~Sorry about the shingles! Hope you''re feeling better soon!

Jas12~Sorry about the shingles! Hope you''re feeling better soon!

ditto. let us know how it goes at the hospital and what the dr. says.

snlee~Thanks! I don''t have any intention of moving her bed time back. She does well with the current routine and that''s all that matters to me!
2.gif
I''m glad your first week back wasn''t completely miserable. It''s hard, but for me it wasn''t nearly as bad as I had thought it would be! As for foods, you can mix RC with anything....we always mixed her fruit with her RC...never gave her straight fruit until she was probably 7 or 8 months.

puffy~That''s good that you let B try the daycare at the gym. I bet he did terrific and all the caretakers thought he was amazing! So excited for you for your trip! I''ve never been to Vegas...sad, I know!
5.gif

Tacori~Your friend''s baby is tiny!

msb~Please keep us posted on TTC! We aren''t exactly "trying" yet as much as not preventing. Who knows what will happen. I''m really excited, though!

LIA~What an adorable (and holy cow how old is he getting!!) little man you have there! Good luck with your trip!

Jas12 I hope you feel better soon!!! A friend of mine had the shingles, it was miserable for her. I hope you get over them lickety split!

Jas12, I''m sorry Co is not feeling well either. Hope you & Co feel better soon.

Burk, we have decided to cancel escrow. We just don''t feel comfortable with it. So now we will check the website first before putting in offer on a house.

LIA
What a cutie.
Coby is getting so big.
Sorry, I have no advice for you for traveling, still haven''t gone more than 30 miles w/ J.

Jen
You are supermom in our book.
Marina and Sophie are adorable.
They are getting so big.
They are so different from each other except for their strawberry red hair!

Jen~The girls are so stinking cute! Thanks so much for checking in and posting pics! I don''t care what you say, you are supermom!!

lili~I want to see a pic of J standing!
9.gif

Just so y''all know, our wonderful Dreamer is a MOM! Hop on over to the Preggo thread for pictures and the story!!!

I''m being a bad teacher and on PS during parent teacher conferences!
23.gif
They''re 3 hours long and I already graded all the papers from today and I don''t have any parents in my line, so here I am! DH is supposed to call the mom of the friend re: nanny tonight to see if she''s really serious. We have decided if she actually wants to make it work that this is something we need to do. It would actually be great for me because I will be able to go straight from our house to school instead of our daycare which is out of the way so I''d get an additional 20 minutes or so with T!
36.gif
And, since I know the director of the center personally I think she''ll let me put T back in at age 3. I''ll keep you all posted!

Tacori~Did you start your class with T or am I ahead of myself? Did you get to the mall to get your computer stuff figured out?

Puffy~How''s the closet cleaning coming?

Bobo~Good luck in your continued house hunting. I''m glad you guys did what made you comfortable!

Back from hospital--Co''s not old enough the get the Pox vaccine (and it''s nearly too late anyway) and too young for any other treatment--which is fine by me. If he contracts chickenpox, it''s not the end of the world, but i am bracing myself for that possibility and trying to keep him away from the outbreaks on my body. Kinda hard while nursing obviously. I feel like a leper
15.gif

Pedi says there is no strong reason for me to take an antiviral drug--i am young and should bounce back without permanent nerve damage, no reason to stop nursing either as it may do him some good in the way of antibodies--but even if not, he''s been around me anyway so quitting would not make sense.
I feel super stressed which is not going to help me recover...wish i were not such a worry wort! I think, besides co, i am most nervous that this will spread to my face and scar--happened to my poor aunt.

Sorry for the selfish, whiny post--i''ll be back to catch up later

Looking fwd to welcoming DD and Hunter to the mommy thread.....

DD, CONGRATS MAMA! Can''t wait to read all about it on the preggo board!!!

Finally got to the apple store. They gave me ANOTHER laptop! Haha. He really thought it was the third party (Kingston) ram I had installed by MacMall.com. So this SHOULD be my third BUT final. Also he gave me a new power cord (for free!) b/c he felt bad I had to keep coming back. Great customer service!

Jas12, I am so sorry! I don''t know anything about Shingles (except my grandfather had it). Hope the pain fades soon! I thought BFed babies could start whole milk at 10 months. You are so close to his b-day. I probably would just ween b/c you NEED to take care of yourself! Hope sweet Co feels better soon!

Lia, just know they will make you unhook him for take-off and landing. But besides that you can "wear" him. Hopefully he will sleep! More hopefully your DH will go with you b/c it DOES make life easier.

Bobo, I don''t know. Guess it depends what their crimes were, WHERE they were, how much I loved the house. I do have to say when I searched I was RELIEVED there are none anywhere close to us.

puffy, She never calls out our names. She''ll cry when she wants to get out but doesn''t shout anything. Strange girl. I am lucky that nights are easy. I figure it is my reward for the first 6 months. We took T to vegas last July. It was strange but we rotated babysitting duties (SIL was there as well. FIL doesn''t babysit
20.gif
) I have never stayed at the wynn. Have a great time!

Burk, tomorrow morning is out first class. Then a babysitter is coming for a test run in the afternoon. Busy day! I think she learned the march from "Jack''s Big Music Show" but you could be right. She thinks it is so funny. Of course she thinks EVERYTHING is funny these days. How funny you should teach Tayva! Though I didn''t teach Tessa, I do encourage it b/c it is so cute.

Jen, your girls are GORGEOUS. I love that last picture.

LIA, I can''t believe that Coby''s already 4 months! He''s such a cutie.

jas12 awww, you poor thing! i hope you''re better soon. and hopefully Co will ok.

tacori YAY for the new laptop and a free cord!!! i hve no one to rotate babysitting with me, but we are going with a few other people who have already offered to take turns watching B, but i''m sure i''ll be ok. i''m not much of a gambler and i would rather shop while DH gambles so i can just take B with me. i hope the class with T goes well. i''m sure she will have a great time.

burk the closet cleaning SUCKS!! haha. i have not made progress at all. the closet people called the other day and i had to tell them that i wasn''t ready yet. haha! how is T doing? it would be so nice if the nanny is going to happen. T can hopefully stay away from all the other germs and she will be better for good, hopefully!!! and YAY for more time with you also.

bobo what does your DH think about the house?

snlee how are you guys doing? how''s work?

DD: Congratulations!!!!! can''t wait to have you over here =) Hunter is so adorable..(i LOVE his name too!)
(neatfreak: thanks for giving us a heads-up !)

puffy: thats so funny! K is exactly like that..throws a fit while im trying to tie him in, then we he realizes we''re going out for a ride he settles down and starts looking out the window!hahaha

Burk: keep us updated on how that phone call with your DH''s friends mother turned out!

Tacori: Yay for the new laptop! hopefully third times a charm
1.gif

Jas12: Sorry to hear about what you''re going through
7.gif
I agree with Tacori that perhaps you should consider weaning since his birthday is so close and it will help relieve some of your stress...

bobo: had i taken the house without having prior knowledge of this information, it wouldn''t bother me as much..but considering i KNEW the information beforehand AND the crime for 2 of them is child molesting, i would be VERY uneasy moving there especially since i have a child and having to CONSTANTLY be on the look out would burn me out...

Thank you ladies for your opinion on the house issue. We had decide to cancel escrow on the house. Like msb, if we had know this after then it probably won''t bother me this much. But since we found out before we close the house we both feel uncomfortable and agree that that it''s not a good idea to buy a house that we won''t feel safe and have to be on the look out constantly.

JAS12: i''m so sorry to hear about the stress! shingles sucks! it should be fine to not be on the anti-virals. the biggest worry is getting something called post-herpetic neuralgia (which is basically when you continue to have pain after the rash is gone), and anti-virals are thought to decrease the incidence of it. BUT, it''s so much less common to have that complication in someone who is young and healthy so i think your decision is totally reasonable! hang in there... oh, and try not to worry about it spreading to your face. it follows specific nerves and unless it starts on the face, it would be pretty uncommon to have to there later.

SNLEE: if dh doesn''t come, i think my mom will fly in for a couple days. which would be fun too, but totally different...i have a feeling it''s not going to work to meet up, but hopefully will one day!

BOBO: sounds like you guys made a good decision! by the way, the recent pics you posted were ADORABLE!

BURK: thanks! i can''t believe how old he is getting either!

LILI: thanks to you also! he IS big! your cutie is such a heartbreaker already.

DREAMER: aaahhhh congrats! what a beauty. so excited to have you come to the mommy thread. :)

TACORI: hilarious that you got ANOTHER laptop, but awesome about the cord!

BLEN: thanks! i can''t believe how close you''re getting! you''re going to be over here before you know it! :)

PUFFY: oooh, shopping in vegas is the best!!! have fun!

MSB: so cute about the car seat! i''m dreading the days of "fits." having a tiny infant is so easy in so many ways.

Jas12~So sorry! I agree with Tacori, take care of yourself!! Just out of curiosity, how do you get shingles?

Tacori~I bet the march is super cute. The only time T watches tv is when she''s doing her breathing treatment so she''s on our laps (she still dances in our lap which is hilarious)....I may have to let her watch the one with the march which she''s standing and encourage it because it sounds adorable. I hope today is a hit with the class and the babysitter. Where did you end up finding the sitter?

puffy~Sorry the closet isn''t progressing! T is doing good. She has been happy as can be through this whole thing, just coughing like crazy with a super runny nose. I think part of her problem is she''s had the never-ending cold for the past 10 days. I guess she barely napped at daycare yesterday because she wanted to play with her friends. Too cute.

msb~When is K''s birthday? Are you having a party?

LIA~When do you leave for your trip?

Okay went to the class. They do a circle time thing (with stretches and songs) that T wanted NO part of. The teacher said it was fine if she wanted to play. It is all about fun. T is seriously obsessed with ANY slide (they had a small one there). Of course she kept trying to climb up it instead of using the stairs which she was capable of doing.
20.gif
Of course she doesn''t understand the concept of "sharing" or "taking turns." There was a boy, 22 months, who kept sitting on the slide and just staring at T. The brat. He knew she wanted to use it. Terrible 2s I guess. Not sure why he is even IN the class. It is suppose to be for 1 year olds. She did participate in the end circle time which was great. They go around the circle singing the kid''s names, clapping, jumping...it was cute. The sitter is coming in an hour. Yikes! Hope they like each other.

puffy, you will have a great time. The class did go well. Rough start though since she was the ONLY kid who wouldn''t do the circle thing at first. TOO independent! She was pissed when we had to leave too.

msb, I am feeling good about the new one! Too funny.

Bobo, hope you find another house soon!

Lia, I love free things! Not I am worried the metal peg that broke off is still INSIDE my laptop. Have to investigate.

Burk, my friend teaches at a preschool. This is a grandmother of one of her students. I guess she put the word out.

Thanks LIA!

Thanks Tacori, I''m so ready to have a home of our own. Hate moving around...

LIA--thanks so much for your input--makes me feel better. I ended up getting the topical antiviral and will use that for the week. The pharm. said it''s not as strong as the oral stuff, but since taking the oral stuff wasn''t necessarily the best option, this is a good compromise.
Do you leave for your trip soon? I think now is a good time to travel--i took Co to euro. at 6 months i think if it was just a few months later i would have had my hands full!

BURK--Anyone who has had chicken pox can get shingles. It''s the same virus. It lays dormant in your body and if your immune system is down it can attack your nerves. I am usually super healthy (haven''t had a cold in over 2 years until recently) so i was kinda surprised, but then i thought about how many viruses i am probably continually fighting b/c Co has been sick many times this winter, i live in the north and haven''t seen the light of day in months and i am probably stressed over various stuff-- so i am sure all that contributed to it. yuck.
Did you decide on the nanny?

TACORI-thanks, i am trying my best to get rest, vitamins etc. but as the pedi said, no reason to stop BF--so luckily i don''t have to wean (i don''t think either of us are ready). Great news about the computer--hopefully it convinces you that macs are great! Hope all goes well with the sitter! that class sounds fun. I am looking fwd to starting one in the spring.

Co news: He''s *finally* starting to pull up --kinda-- when he is playing near me. I''ll take it. He''s also communicating much more. the other day he was having breekie and it was only 8am and he started doing the sign for "sleep" Charlie and i looked at each other like "what? you just got up an hour ago?" and he usually doesn''t nap till 10:30ish, but he did the same sign perfectly a couple more times and always does this at nap and night time so i though, well, i''ll put you down then. Sure enough, he was instantly asleep--took at 15 min cat nap and was up again, happy. He just did the same thing now--awoke grumpy cuz he''s congested and not sleeping well--nursed, signed he was tired so i put him down again and he''s out now! What a smart little thing

What a smartie! I wish J can communicate like that with me. Would definitely make life alot easier. She''s really into throwing a fit these days (crying w/ her head hanging down then tossing it back

-- it''s funny to watch but frustrating as h*ll.

Glad to hear that you can take something to help with the shingles.
Hope you have a speedy recovery. Is shingles recurring?
