Gals, any tips for formula to milk? Amelia didn''t like the milk. She screamed and when we finally gave her formula, she drank that, so I know it was a preference thing. Today I did try 2 oz milk and 6 oz formula to success, so I think I will continue slowing transitioning her but wondering how you guys did it. I also gave it to her in the bottle, following Burk''s two cents about Tayva.
Can you try mixing milk with formula and increase the amount of milk gradually so she gets used to it? Just a thought, obviously not based on any experience at all!

Thanks for the welcome!

We''ve been working a lot with George''s latch, and I think that we''ve finally got everything figured out! My milk''s also come in, which led to a huge wet spot on the bed last night - oops.

And DD, thanks for the warning about last night. The ped said the same thing when we visited yesterday, and it ended up being a bit brutal. It was really reassuring to know that that''s normal.
Well since your milk is in now tonight should be better! Now you can watch out for the weepies! I am not overly emotional, but on day three I got overwhelmed and cried over some small thing dealing with Hunter. As George gets more energy from the milk and recovers from HIS birth experience, he will have more energy to--I don''t know-- CRY!!
9.gif
Actually, the next few weeks may be on an off hard... I broke down once and walked away from crying baby (left him with DH) and got in the shower and just cried and cried! During those moments it was so helpful to know that it gets better! For us I feel like 3 weeks was the point when things started to get a tonne easier, but for other mothers the 6 week mark was the magic number. Or the 40 week mark
3.gif
But no matter what, it gets easier and better day by day!

My one mom friend says that days with baby get good, then bad, then good, then bad... but over time, the goods get better and the bads aren''t as bad... so it is an upward trajectory! LOL!

in random order...

Dive-love the bathtub pic!! so cute

tacori-sounds like you gals had a blast. I can't wait to see the pics!!

puffy-so glad you guys are home! sending prayers that B continues a speedy full recovery!

Blen: congrats and welcome to the mommy thread. I hope you and george are getting some rest!

snlee-the year did go so fast. soon you'll be taking your own one year pics of little D with his mr.bear.

lucy-I'm 100% sure i make mistakes everyday. hopefully my love for my kids will overshadow all the stupid stuff I might say or do.

burk-i hope T continues to feel better. are you guys going to do an easter egg hunt or anything for Easter?

tgal- my kids loved regular milk so I didn't have a problem switching but I think your idea of doing a mix and transitioning that way is a good one.

Jas12-yay for sunshine! Have fun at the party, it's going be awesome.

I think Jake might be going down to one nap too. yesterday I tried putting him down in the morning and he never went to sleep. he then fell asleep in the car on the way home from the Y where I teach swimming lessons and only took a 1.5 hour nap. he went to bed around 6:45pm and slept until 5:30. I nursed him and put him back in his bed and he went back to sleep until 7:30. I tried putting him down again this morning and again he just played in his crib and didn't sleep. I fed him lunch and put him down around 11:45 and he's asleep now. So, we'll see. I don't mind going down to one nap because my big kids will be out of school soon and we'll be busy doing summer things so it will be nice to not have to be home in the morning for nap time.

DD, you must be a bit sleep deprived today, I think that''s what I said in the the part you quoted? 2 oz milk, 6 oz formula (so 1/4 to 3/4) and I will gradually increase. Hehehe.

Just want to let you know that J loves your avi!
She''s ''ooo'' and ''ahhing'' and pointing to it on my computer!
What a smart girl! Points AND loves my avi!

(Amelia still doesn''t point.

I swear this girl holds her cards until the doc and I threaten some kind of therapy, and only then will she throw it out there.)

Good thing we know you''re actually very intelligent!

TGal--
I tried the mixing whole milk w/ breastmilk to no avail.
In fact, I think I've made it worst since now she's boycotted all milk (even breastmilk) in a bottle.
Will only eat it straight from the source
38.gif

Puffy--
Glad that B is home.
He''s a feisty one -- slapping and pinching the nurses for disrupting his sleep :)
Hope he recovers well.

Oh gah! That sucks! Amelia is SO sensitive I am afraid of something happening like this. She refused the bottle before she took it today and I am screwed if she starts rejecting it because I have no other way to feed her right now!!

Bobo
Forgot to congrats you on the new home.

lili
I will post pics if we end up putting her in a dress.
Yeah it''s like she learn something new everyday now. Given most of her new things are facial expressions, but it''s funny. This girl makes so much expressions.
Sorry J is refusing the bottle.

Jas12
I love the two beach pics; you should definitely get them framed. They convey so much emotions.

Blen
Congratulations to you and Mr. Blen. George is so precious.
Yay for correct latch and milk coming in. BFing should get easier from now on.

DD
Hunter is doing great. 2 inches and 2.5lbs in 6 weeks is awesome.
Yay for you too for losing 38lbs already.

MrsS
Have fun at the Hannah Montana movie tomorrow. It''s funny that even our 4 yrs old nephew knows about Hannnah Montana and the Jonas Brothers.

curly
Lily is sliding on her belly already at 6 months; you got yourself another smartie.
Sounds like the girls are having fun together. So adorable.

Tgal
Yay for one nap. Amelia is so advance.
Hope you figure out a way to help transition to whole milk.

Jen
Glad you checked in and the kiddos are doing great.

NF
The GTG sounds like a blast.

Diva
Love James'' bath pic. So cute.

Burk
You and Tayva are so cute, laughing so hard that you are tearing up. Just adorable.

puffy
Glad you guys are home. Hope everything go well at the outpatient appt.

Tacori
So funny about your DH and Dee''s diamond. I think everything takes backstage to the babies (especially the cute ones).
Can''t wait to see the pics when you get home.

Thanks curly, sound like the girls are doing great.

TGal, sorry to hear about the fever, hope it will go away soon. Can''t help you on the formula to milk question. We''re having a hard time switching little B from soy formula to soy milk. We''re doing the mixed formula with milk thing too but so far not much success.

NF, can''t wait to see the get together pictures.

Diva, James is such a cutie pie!

Burk, little B get like that too, gets too tired and will laugh at everything to the point you can''t tell if he is crying or laughing.

lili, he like the swing but he was scared at the same time. He was holding on tight to the swing.

puffy, so good to hear that you guys are home. Hope B heal up very quickly! when little B was in the hospital he hates it too when the nurses woke him up to check on him. He usually pees on them, lots of nurse got showered by his pee.

Tacori, can''t wait to see the pictures.

Thanks snlee. pretty sure will set my little *bling* in a bezel necklace.

Thanks qtiekiki!

Update on little B: we...I mean I have started time out for little B whenever he slap me. So far I think he is getting the idea but still slap to try to challenge me.

I still doing ok with pumping at work. I am still pumping 4 times a day. My supply dips right before I get AF, so usually I take fenugreek around that time to maintain supply. M actually haven''t increase her intake amount, and lately she had been drinking less from the bottles. I am going to get her higher flow nipples to see if it''ll help since she is still on level 1. She takes three bottles when I am at work, so I make 2 6oz and 5oz bottles for her. The 5oz is for after meal. She eats her solid food much faster than she drinks her milk. I would like to cut out one pump session, but I am not sure if I''ll pump enough for her. So I am just keep the 4 sessions.

Try not to worry about getting enough. It''s hard, but the stress can decrease your supply. You are doing great, so just keep at it.

Here''s M''s new expression. It''s hilarious IRL.

funny_m.jpg

And a nekkid one to show her chubbiness in all glory.

nekkid_m.jpg

lili~Yea, she was quite the giggle box last night. She has been sleeping worse than usual this week (during the day) because she is congested and coughing constantly. We are very lucky in the midwest because real estate doesn''t even come close to the prices in Cali. Unfortunately in our particular city the land prices don''t exactly fall in line.
15.gif
I''ll be waiting for pics of Miss J partying it up!

Puffy~Glad you''re home!

Blen~Glad George''s latch is improving. T had a terrible (painful) latch.

Tacori~Glad you all had a great time at the GTG. I''m jealous...but oh so anxious to see the adorable pics!!

Jas12~I''m sure you are partying it up as I type! I''m so excited to see pics of the festivities. Tayva has been taking crazy short naps this week (she is teething and not feeling well) and I can oh so relate with your nap issues. Good luck trying out a new schedule.

Tgal~For what it''s worth, it took T a while to "warm up" to the taste of milk (even in her bottle). I thought she''d be a kid who would refuse to drink it at first. I think your best bet is to continue doing a mix and continue to give her a sippy of milk here and there to allow her to make the transition.

Be back later......

snlee~Your DH is awesome! I have no help with T most mornings (Dh leaves for work at 6 am and we don''t even get up until 7) and it''s hard!

mrss~We''re going to my parents and doing dinner and a little egg hunt (for T only because she''s the only grandchild). What are you guys doing? It''s crazy for me to hear all your babies going to a one nap schedule....Tayva totally rejected that idea. Oh well, I''ll try again later.

QT~Love the pics!! It''s so crazy to see the mattress in the crib that high after seeing it down for so long!
5.gif

Here''s a pic of Tayva eating her breakfast this morning. I didn''t take her out of her PJ''s all day!!

i swear i will get caught up soon...
i just wanted to say that i LOVE the pics!!
Miss T is ever so beautiful and M is just a funny little girl.

out appt was good today. i get to keep him at home but have to keep up with wetting his dressings and drenching them in a neosporin type thing. he was pretty upset when i had to wake him last night but he fell back asleep in my arms and i had to take advantage of it and just slept with him in my arms. we have to go back monday for another check up so hopefully he will continue to heal.
but the part that sucks big time is that i can''t bathe him. he has not had a bath since sunday. the only thing that i can do is sponge bathe, and sponge bathing a toddler is not going to work!!! and i have to keep him out of the sun which is pretty bad cause all he wants to do is play outside. he threw a BIG fit today cause i wouldn''t open the door for him to go outside. so we''re pretty much inside all day, unless i take him shopping with me.
it''s pretty crazy still with chasing a toddler down to do something that he absolutely does not want to do, making sure he doesn''t pick at the scabs on his chin and just making sure he stays out of trouble. he is so attached to me, even more than before, i can barely go take a shower without him screaming to bloody murder. but i must say it is pretty cute.

so sorry for these selfish posts lately. i will catch up when i have some time.
have a great weekend everyone!!!

qtiekiki, M is so cute! love the rolls on her.

Burk, love the pic of Tayva, look at those cheeks.

puffy, glad to hear the appt went well. Must be hard to keep a toddler from picking at the scabs. Hope B heals up soon!

typing 1 handed, sorry. we had another appt this am and g is already back up to his birth weight! it feels like all he is doing right now is eating.

burke - love the pic!

q - so cute! haha.

tacorii & nf - sounds like so much fun!

dd - thanks on letting me know what to expect!

Lili - We tried putting James in the regular tub, but he kept wanting to get onto his tummy so we are still using the little tub for now. Sorry that J is refusing the bottle.

Puffy - Yay for B getting to go home. It must be tough trying to keep a busy toddler clean with only sponge baths.

Jas12 - We call the orange fish "Nemo" and the others don''t really have names
3.gif
He has two rubber duckies - a big one and a little one so they are the mama duck and the baby duck respectively. He loves it when you fill them up with water and squirt him with it! If only we could put video on here....

Tgal - We are using DD''s suggestion for switching James from formula to whole milk - it''s what the pedi suggested too. We started today and are doing 4oz formula to 2oz milk for a 6oz bottle and so far so good.

Snlee- Working is tough and I feel guility for having to leave James too. I don''t have a choice tough if we ever want to get our own house so I just remind myself that it''s the best decision for our family and that makes me feel better. I know that he is in excellent hands during the day, but I still worry about him.

Bobo - James likes to hit in the face too so we say NO in a firm tone and redirect his hand. It''s worked so far but he''s not a dummy - he tries to move your hand out of his way when you do it
20.gif

Q - Awwww what a qute new face that M has! I like her chubby pic too - James is not chubby at all (just tall) so we''re a little jealous of those rolls.

Burk - Sometimes James stays in his PJ''s all day too - especially if we are not planning on taking him anywhere
3.gif

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

Burk, your little girl is just too adorable! I love looking at the pics on here when I get the chance.

I thought I''d share a new pic of Parker. He''s almost 3 months old already! His new fascination is his hands. It''s a riot to watch him. It''s like his little fingers on one hand are fighting the other hand! Everyone kept telling me that 3 months is the mark of when they really get to be a lot of fun and I''m finding that true.

Parkerx2.JPG

burk- such a cute pic of T....my goodness how I LOVE those cheeks on that girl...how do you not kiss her 24/7??

puffy-you poor thing. I can only imagine how hard it is keeping B from doing all the things he shouldn''t be and staying inside etc. Sounds like he''s recovering quickly though and he''ll be all healed up in no time. your posts are not selfish, we''re just glad you take the time to update us.

blen-newborns do seem to eat all the time, glad little G is back up to his birth weight! you''ll have to post some more pictures of him when you get a chance. I miss having the teeny tiny newborn to snuggle...enjoy it..

DD-too funny about James turning over in the tub. I bet he ends up being a little fish in the water.

L2L-what a cutiepie..thanks for sharing the pics!

puffy~Glad everything is going well enough to keep him home! Aww for cuddly moments at night! Thanks for keeping us posted.

Bobo~Thanks! She sure does still have those cheeks. I often wonder if she''ll ever grow out of them!
3.gif

Blen~you''ll become a pro at one-handed typing!
21.gif
Yay for making it back to birth weight. You''ll feel like all you do is feed and change diapers for a while now. Enjoy your rest!
2.gif

Diva~yesterday was a lazy day. She and I both stayed in our PJ''s for the day. I even took her for her walk in her PJs!
5.gif

L2L~Where did the time go? How do you have a 3 mo old? What a cutie!

mrss~Thanks! I pretty much kiss her cheeks constantly. She handles it well.
14.gif

Happy Easter everyone!! We''re going to my IL''s for early lunch and my parents for dinner so I probably won''t have time to check in. I expect b-day and Easter pics when I get back!!

I swear this girl holds her cards until the doc and I threaten some kind of therapy, and only then will she throw it out there.)

LOL...maybe you should threaten her more
9.gif

So any luck with the whole milk?
I''ve stopped giving J whole milk for a while, instead mix in w/ her oatmeal cereal and add in some dried blueberries.
I''ll probably give her the whole milk in a different cup like the sippy cup (instead of the cup and straw).
It''s like she didn''t want to have to taste her milk to see which is it, and thus not drinking her milk the last few days
38.gif

Bobo--
That''s so funny about little B liking the swing but being scared at the same time.
I guess he''s uncertain what the swing will do, but likes the thrill of it going up and down
5.gif

QT--
LOL....love the "Homer Simpson" look on M!
I can totally hear the "doh" sound
9.gif

She''s a cutie -- chub and all, but to tell you the truth, she doesn''t look as chubby as you''ve made her out to be.
That''s interesting about your supply being low during AF.
Mine is low on ovulation (I think...since my period is not what it used to be).
Speaking of which, are you ladies finding that your cycle is different post preggo?

Burk--
Sqeeee....look at those pinchable and kissable cheeks.
Like MrsS said, how do you not kiss her 24/7?
Keep those Tayva pictures coming.

Puffy--
Glad to hear that B is recovering.
Like MrsS said, your posts are not selfish and glad that you keep us updated.

Blen--
Haha, you''ll either become a pro one-handed typist or your baby will learn to love sleeping on a pillow on your lap.
Tht''s great that George is back to his birthweight.
Hope is bottom is feeling better too.

L2L--
Glad you drop in and w/ pictures!
Can''t believe that it''s been 3 months already.
Look at how big your little guy is!

Mrs, Burk and lili thanks for compliments on my little guy.

Question for any mommies who suffered hair loss after having their baby... When did you first notice it start and how long did it go on for? I thought I was out of the woods until about a week ago then when I was washing my hair I noticed strands coming out and then I''d see them on my shirts. My hair is pretty thick but it''s kind of freaking me out! AF decided to show up soon after this started so I''m wondering if maybe it has something to do with that too? The joys of being a mommy!

Well we decided to take our first Mr. Bear photos today! Hunter is 7weeks old. I sure wish we had some pictures from when he was newborn
15.gif
but these will have to do!

Here is a montage of our attempts at taking the Mr. Bear photo: Crying Baby, Nursing on Mr. Bear, Falling Over, and Success!

Happy Easter Mommies!

Love all the kid pictures!! DD-Hunter is so adorable!!

oops... double post and a very large photo to follow!
