Burk, I love the footed PJs at Target (with the zippers!) I think they have up to 18 months. Hope your AF goes away soon!!!

Tacori~I have gotten almost all of her pajamas at Target and have loved them. All I can find is up to 9mos, though. I find only 2 piece pj''s in 12 mos and up. I''ll look again the next time I''m there.

I want AF gone too. I might call my OB if it doesn''t. I just switched BC''s so maybe that''s what this has to do with?

Burk, I just got some there (Circa? Circo? whatever that brand is). They are packaged by the onesies (NOT in the clothing part) also got some cute Carter zippys from BRU (in 9 and 12 months).

I know exactly what you''re talking about! I will look....probably going to stop there tonight! We don''t have a BRU
29.gif
but we''re going to Kansas City this weekend to visit friends (their son is 8 mos) so I''m sure we''ll go then. Thanks!

hi mommies!
we miss you over on the preggo thread, but it looks like this is working out well!!

just wanted to say...

OMG...had no idea that you have to worry about some strollers being hotter than others. something ELSE to think about when we finally suck it up and make the big purchase! it''s been hovering around 110-115 here this past week. ARGH.

would love more pictures (ms flutter...your boy is sooo adorable!!)!!

ok, back to lurking!! :)

Potty training is not something I''ve thought about yet at all although when I first found out I was pregnant with #2, people told me to start potty training Lily when she turned one so I wouldn''t have to deal with 2 in diapers.
6.gif
She is nowhere near ready for it and neither am I. And maybe I''m naive because I''m not living it yet but what is so bad about 2 in diapers?
33.gif
You change one, then you change the other. I don''t know, I guess I''ll understand better in a few months but for right now, I think potty training won''t even be a thought until Lily is about 2. I know they work with them at daycare which goes through preschool so hopefully they will give me the signal when it''s time to start.

Curly my kids are 18mths apart and I did get told by a few (mostly older) women that I had to potty train my son before my daughter was born, but I knew my son wasn''t anywhere near ready for it, and the advice I was getting from health care professionals was to not even attempt it until he was two. Having the two of them in nappies was exhausting at times, but by the time the second kid came changing a nappy was second nature and wasn''t something I really thought about. I was much more concerned and frustrated by the fact my son still wasn''t walking when my daughter was born.

I just wanted to say to the ladies who are having their second babies or thinking about having a second, the single most useful piece of baby equipment I owned was my Phil and Ted Stroller. I found it so much easier to bundle the kids into the stroller and get out and about than to go through the rigmarole of putting them in and out of the car. I also found and still find going for a nice walk helped me maintain my sanity and gave me a sense of being able to maintain some semblance of fitness. I still use the stroller even though my kids are fast becoming to big for it.

Burk: I buy the footed jammies at children''s place too. Her 12 mo ones are too short, I have to stretch them to get them on her. I have one set of the circo ones from target that are still barely long enough, but at this point we are wearing babygap/old navy or gymboree 2 piece jammies. She''s just too long & the kids'' rooms don''t cool down well, even with central air, (which here you don''t use often in the summer) so its better to dress light. For Jake, all his footed jammies for winter (heavy fleece) came from Carters. Costco always had them for $8 each.

she''s wearing 12 to 18 mo sizes right now. My long girl!

Wonder how tgals travels went today?

Hey Burk, is Tayva wearing the pink short sleeved hoodie w/ matching shorts from baby gap in your avatar? D has the same outfit!! I love it!

Whoa gals, this thread is hopping today!

re: preggo thread...hopefully we all can still lurk and encourage over there. I know that I LOVED having you further along preggos/experiences mommies when I was going through it. I realize that the current preggos probably appreciate the slower thread so they can bond, but if we still contribute, it might help them migrate more easily over here when the time comes. Otherwise we may have multiple mommy threads if we''re too "cliquish!"

Pavelover, of course you are welcome here! Re: Qantas: they will not assign the bassinet seats to anyone else besides mommies/daddies. The issue comes up if there are too many infants on the plane. Then the youngest ones win out (as honestly, I think they should...even if that means I have to hold Amelia. I can''t imagine holding a newborn with no head control of that long on a plane).

curlygirl, maybe I am naive, but can you change one, then the other, if one hasn''t gone? I would feel like it would be: I changed one, checked the other, then, damn...have to go back and change the other and check the one, then change the one...etc etc. I would be in diaper hell. I hate changing diapers (although I admit changing a poopy diaper gives me a feeling of accomplishment...like cleaning the kitchen or the toilet...)

Hi LIA!
35.gif

Alright girl mommies (or boy mommies with an opinion). Here''s a question, and I realize everyone thinks differently but I am curious. Would you pierce an infant girl''s ears? I am not sure I asked this before but I went to a party yesterday and my friend has a daughter 6 weeks older than Amelia. Her ears are pierced...cute little gold studs AND she has diamond studs waiting in the wings that they have already purchased (I started a bling for your kids thread awhile ago and this is the same mom I was talking about then). I had my ears pierced when I was young, but not that young...maybe 2? And I STILL can remember hating it and screaming when my mom tried to clean it. She gave up and they closed, to be repierced when I was in the seventh grade.

Since I figure Amelia herself doesn''t care about earrings, it would be more for my vanity than hers. And since I have no vanity, I don''t see the point in it. Plus with her torticollis, she sleeps on the side of her head which may cause infection to the earhole. But I wonder if she may have wished I had done it when she is too young to remember? My best friend pierced her daughters ears when she was 4 months old and her daugther is now 7 years old and and loves earrings (although she owns no diamonds.
3.gif
) My poor girl...growing up around little girls adorned in bling...I have asked my other friend who has her own business dealing with crystals if she''d glue some onto Amelia''s ears for effect when she gets jealous of diamond baby.
41.gif

I think for some parents it''s cultural to pierce girls'' ears?

Burk, wow I would save a lot of money if we didn''t have a BRU!

Lia, I miss how it was too. I think they just get really hot in their car seats.

TGal, I realized not too long ago that high school is *never* over
20.gif
but you are right. I know I love hearing about Delaney since she is a few months older than T. I am not going to pierce T''s ears until not only she is old enough to ask but take care of them herself. I was 11 (which I think is a good age). My friend got her''s done young and now she has these icky stretched holes
14.gif

Diver, D is a long girl! Poor Tessa is a shortie like her mama. Oh well. She is in 6-9 months stuff. Though some of the smaller oneies (like Gerber) are too short on her now.

softly, thanks for the potty training advice! With my 2 being 17 months apart, I''m sure I''ll have a billion other things to think about and potty training is NOT at the top of the list!! And I am super excited about the Phil and Ted stroller. We always admired them on the street and said that when we have 2 kids, we''re getting one. Since that is quickly becoming a reality, I''m looking forward to this new stroller. It seems to make so much sense for the NYC streets where we live. Much more streamlined and convenient than your typical double.

TGal, yeah, I guess there is no real science to changing 2 kids'' diapers! To be honest with you, I''m not super-militant about Lily''s unless she''s pooped. I know at daycare she gets changed every 2 hours which is way more than I can say that I do it when I''m with her on the weekends!! She''s not prone to diaper rash either so I guess I''ve been lucky so far. I''ll admit that when she was a baby, I was much more uptight about it but now I''m not as hardcore! I''m not going to stress out about it now, it''s just another thing to put on the list of things to worry about with 2 under 2!!!

Regarding ear piercing, our pediatrician doesn''t recommend doing it until they are at least 3 unless it''s being done for cultural reasons. I have to admit that there are little ones in Lily''s daycare that already have theirs pierced at 3 months but they definitely fit into that religious/cultural category. I''m going to wait a while to do it. I was 4 or 5 when mine were done. I know mrssalvo''s girls had theirs done and I know there are threads about it because I think one of them came out crooked but I''m sure mrss will chime in on this topic.

Diver, your girl is loooong and lean!! Lots of 12-18 stuff is still big on Lily. She is still in some 6-12 and she''s 30" long. I think it depends on the brands. Lily is also in the Old Navy 2 piece short sleeve jammies or the Gymbo short gymmies. Too hot here for anything more than that.

BTW, when you guys give your babies/toddlers water do you give them bottle or tap?

Ear piercing-My sister & I both were pierced after being born. I decided to pierce Yvette's at 3? months old I think. Our pediatrician's office offers ear piercing so I did it there. I cried, Yvette cried something terrible, I told the pediatrician she may need to hold us both hehe. Anyway, the doctor that did it, did a horrible job (Yvette was moving so much). They were on an angle & poking her. I wound up taking them out in hopes they would close up since she is so young & her skin is new. The piercings themselves take less than a minute to clean you can do it right before a diaper change. All in all I dont think I would do a possible future daughter's ear piercing so early. If I did I would use their reaction to shots as a guide to how they may handle ear piercing-Yvette HATES going to the doctor, BTW. Most women like to make a mother/father daughter day out of it & I think that is cute.

Yvette drinks bottle water however I want to get a Brita or a tap attachement, I cannot think straight lately, whatever they are called.

I really hate buying 24pks of water such a waste you know? It's just the chlorine taste is sooooo strong I gag & Lake Mead water is foul.

Forgot to add that I loved the zip up pj's. They made things so much easier. I remember Target had some that were sold in the clothes section that I liked. They were $9 each. Not sure if they even sell them anymore & also the Gerber zip pj's were great & cheap.

Thanks Vegas. I try to give her water in a sippy (even though she doesn''t "get" it yet) and have been giving her bottled which is funny b/c I use tap for her bottles (formula). Guess I don''t know what to do!

Why is our Target so worthless?? They only have up to 9 mos in both the Circo and the Gerber packs.
29.gif
(I''ve used that icon more today that I all my PS days combined....
9.gif
) She needs 12 months-she''s 27.5 inches at 5 months
6.gif

diver~Yup, it''s the Gap outfit.
21.gif
The day we took the pic I was actually using it as a swim suit cover up. Such stylin ladies we have! Thanks for the PJ info! I haven''t even thought of Old Navy. WOW mommy brain. My husband is always hot so we keep the air pretty chilly (in my opinion). We have an old house so the central air is a little wonky. Some rooms get really cold, others stay warm (especially 2nd floor rooms) T''s room tends to get so cold at night so hubby can sleep in our room that doesn''t get so cool. Moral of the story-the girl would be pretty chilly if I didn''t put her inthe ones with feet.

Tacori~I still find ways to spend money on T without the BRU...if we had one it would be BRUTAL. My husband has actually tried to ban me from buying her clothes.....
20.gif
Oh, and I give Tayva filtered water when I give it to her since our city water isn''t very good. But, I used tap in her bottles when we used powder so I guess I don''t really know what I''m doing?
2.gif
9.gif

Re: ear piercing:I didn''t get mine done until I was 12. Mom said I needed to be able to take care of them myslef. I think I''ll probably go with something similar.

Tacori, we give Lily tap water but NYC water is excellent so it''s not an issue.

tgal- both my girls have their ears pierced but I wanted to wait until they were old enough to ask and take care of them. my oldest was 4 and alot younger than i had planned. it was a spur of the momement request when we were at the mall one day and passed a Claire's. she did cry but after it was done, it was done and she took/takes great care of her ears. Lily, a whole other ballgame. she was 2 and of course after seeing her sister wanted her ears done too..

here's the story:

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/ear-piercing-for-lily-uneven-holes-what-would-you-do.53702/

if I had it to do over, I'd make them wait until they were a lot older. it's still a pain when i'm trying to change their clothes in a hurry and you have to watch that the shirts don't snag on the earrings as they are getting pulled over their heads.

that said: they are super cute and my girls look adorable with their little earrings
41.gif

if you do decide to do it, make sure there are 2 gals working and can do both ears at the same time.

tacori, i always gave ny girls bottled water but when i watered down juices (when they were older) I used tap. My 6 year old can tell the difference b/t tap water and the fridge water now though..

ETA: just re-read my thread above and wanted to say that Lily decided about 6 months after i let her left earlobe close up to get it re-pierced so her earring holes are now perfectly even
36.gif

Burk, where do you live?!? That sucks. Have you tried Kohls? I see footed PJs all the time. I do the same thing with the water. Too funny! I am so tempted to send you some!

Curly, that is great you have good tap water!

MrsS, sounds like a mixture is good. I was going to buy the nursery water but my neighbor said it was a gimmick.

Tacori~I keep wondering why this is so hard to find footed Pj''s in 12 months! I live in Lincoln, Nebraska, so maybe that''s why
28.gif
. I''m going to try at a different Target tomorrow if it works out with T''s naps and our other plans...and maybe Kohls too.

Thanks ladies for your input/opinions on the ear piercing thing. MrsS, I''ll go read that thread now.

Tacori, when I mix Amelia''s formula, sometimes I use bottled, sometimes tap. Both the ped and the NICU nurse said tap was fine.

Curly: Delaney is 9mo & 31 inches long!!!!! LONG GIRL! Don''t worry about pt-ing Lily if she''s not ready. I don''t change both kids simultaneously unless they both muck their dipes at the same time. One thing I''ve heard is that kids sometimes regress in potty training when the 2nd child comes, although that isn''t guaranteed. Some kids do just fine.

I give my kids tap water. I have since they were both 3 months. But this is Oregon, we be green. :-)

Burk, well I noticed T''s outfit because D has hers on today!

Today was a 3 glass of wine night after the kids went down. I''m on #3. Man Jakey''s whining can really get under my skin lately. What is his deal? He was so easy until he turned 3. He''s still good, but he''s so much more challenging. I took him to the library tonight to entertain him, he loves it there, but then its hard to keep D entertained. My mom''s club is part of this huge, non-profit international organization and we have a ton of amazing events each month, and on friday is the 1st of a 2 part parenting series called "Parenting with Love". I am so there. Any good info & tips I can get are greatly appreciated. I stay calm with them, but I can feel my ears getting hot a lot of the time.

Ok, my show I was watching on DVR just went off & John & Kate+8 is on. I''ve never watched it (shows like that stress me the hell out) and is it just me or does Kate look like she''s on tranquilizers? LOL...xanax much?

Tacori
Now that Tessa is mobile, is it harder?
1.gif

You and TGal are so lucky to be able to work from home -- get to see all the developments.

TGal
Did Amelia''s get her shots at her 2-month appt?
Was there something different in her routine?
Or is the spitup normal for infant at this stage?
Hope she feels better soon.
It is just heartbreaking to see your little one gagging and spitting.

Regarding the ear pierce: I''m thinking of taking J to get hers done some time next month.
It''s not a cultural thing for me. Just that all the girls in my family pretty much had theirs done by 1 month.
Probably a good idea to get them done since people kept mistaking J for a little boy :P

Burk
J''s spitting up is getting better.
Not as often and as much. I don''t have to burp her (or hold her upright) for as long after her feeding.
I do noticed that she threw up on days following nights when she had a big screaming fest.
How is Tayva doing with the new formula?
Is her spit up under control now?
Bummer about AF. Is this the first month AF is back?

Curly
Wow, molars already. She''s growing so fast!
Is she fussier with the molar coming in than the first 2 teeth?

pavelover
Good to see you over here
1.gif

I''ll be going back to work in Aug, so not too much time left at home
7.gif

DH is okay with me staying at home, but that would mean we''ll have to juggle our budget around a bit.
Also, my line of work is not something that I can hop back in after so many years away....
so if I decide to become a SAHM, it''ll be permanent.
I have heard from many moms deciding to stay at home once the babies come.
Sorry I''m of no help to you.

Diver
Hehe, so we should be seeing you more often on this thread then
2.gif

Wow, 31" for 9 month. She is going to be a tall model.
How''s about showing off your kiddies to kick off this thread?

Curly I''m fascinated to know what it is like having small children in NYC...

Curly: thanks for the tips..i guess i just have to keep trying and see wat works for him..thing is, i always fuss that he ''has'' to eat or he''ll starve (i know i know, if hes hungry he''ll let me know loud and clear, but still!)..i guess ill just try with diff types of food, but always have a back up pureed meal in case he does end up gagging and doesnt want to eat the solids...

pavelover: hey there!! i work a full time job outside the house (both my husband and I do...) we would both like for me to stay at home and take care of the little one, but in financially that just doesnt work for us rite now, plus jobs out of home are veeeeeeeeeeeeeery limited in this part of the world... its tough both of us being out of the house most days and only get the weekend to spend quality time with our son, but it was something we both knew would happen when we decided to get pregnant and adjusted to that fact....we did decide though that when we have #2 that i would sit at home and therefore we would plan the second pregnancy at a time where we could afford to have only one pay check coming in...

Tacori: i loved the sleeping sack!! i would sleep better knowing that he was ''covered'' thru out the nite...

curly- my girls are 20 months apart. I didn''t even try potty training my oldest until she was almost 3. her b-day is in april and i think we started in the Jan. prior. anyway, she got it no problems. i also bought the "princess" pull-ups and she got new princess panties when she was totally into, so no trouble getting her to give up her diapers.

i won''t lie, having the 2 of them in diapers was hard. i don''t even remember a lot of lily''s babyhood, it''s all about just staying sane. But now they are 4 1/2 and 6 and just the best of friends. they play together all the time and really miss each other when they are apart..it''s cute.

diver-lol..on Jon and Kate. I actually love that show. my hubby wonders how I can watch it b/c it totally stresses him out. he''s like, we already hear crying, whining everyday, why watch it? I still do though. i have days i struggle with one baby, I can''t imagine 6...

re: jake''s whining..i wish I could help. Lily is going through a big whinefest herself and it drives me nutso. When she does it i remind her she''s a "winner not a whiner"...lol I try to explain it''s not what she''s saying/asking that''s the problem it''s the tone and have her re-ask/tell in a normal "big girl" voice.

My dentist said something about using tap water, as it has flouride in it for their teeth?

Diver~Too funny that T had it on yesterday! Sorry Jake is in a whiny phase. Our nephew is 2 1/2 and he''s been supe whiny lately....actually I''d say he''s more naughty and throwing tantrums constantly than whiney.
7.gif
My SIL is preggo and ready to pull her hair out! Oh, and I was so watching Jon and Kate + 8 last night!
2.gif

lili~So glad to hear J''s doing better. It''s not fun having an unhappy baby! Tayva seems to be doing better on the new formula, however she is still spitting up a lot. No crying spells, though. And, no, not the first month AF is back, that''s why it''s pretty confusing. I''ve had 2 normal periods prior to this craziness.
20.gif

msb~I work too and I can totally feel your pain! We could afford for me to stay home, but things would have to change (eating out, trips, ect) and I have it pretty good with my job (I"m a teacher-and I''m only working part time next year so I work 9:30ish-3)

mrss~I like Jon and Kate too! My hubby thinks I''m nuts but it''s interesting and I even have favorites (I love Hannah....think she''s so darn cute) Ridiculous. I know.
9.gif
2.gif

Diver, I''ve heard about kids regressing with the pt after the 2nd one comes along, that''s why I''m also in no hurry to try to do it now. I may buy her a potty just so she sees it but she''ll probably think it''s a toy! And you''re right, they don''t BOTH have to be changed every time, only if they need it. I guess I''ll figure it out--it''s not rocket science!

mrssalvo, I''m glad to hear that you didn''t even start potty training till your first was almost 3. And it makes me so happy to hear that the girls are such good friends now. I, too, fear that #2''s baby experience is going to be a blur to me! I told DH to make sure we capture EVERYTHING on video because I want to have some memories!

pavelover, sorry, I totally missed your post. I am a work outside of the home mother. I went back to work when Lily was 12 weeks old and while it was sooooo hard at the time, I think it has helped me maintain my sanity to be out of the house. I honestly think the most difficult job on earth is that of the stay at home mother. It is HARD WORK! When it comes down to it, there is no way we could afford to live on one income and truthfully, I love my job and would be sad to leave it. Lily is in a great daycare and we will also put #2 in daycare so I will continue to work. While I love my children and am beyond overjoyed to be a mother, I need to maintain some of my identity beyond being a mother and really appreciate the adult conversations and stimulation that I get from my job. I''m not trying to start a debate or insinuate that there is anything wrong with staying at home to raise your children--I have the utmost respect for anyone who can do it, I just know that it would be really tough for me financially and mentally! Ideally, I would like to stop working once my girls are in school and have outside activities to get to but I think we''re pretty far from that concept right now!

lili, she got 2 of her top molars in without us even knowing it so that wasn''t bad. But now she has 2 coming in on the bottom and she''s not handling it too well! At least that''s what I''m blaming her fussiness on!!!! She constantly has her hands in her mouth, she''s drooling like crazy and waking up during the night screaming. It''s not fun but hopefully it will pass soon. She really never had any problems with her front teeth.

softly, I absolutely LOVE having a child in NYC!! It is definitely tough on the finances with daycare and the high costs of everything else in this big city but it is so much fun and we are going to try to stay here as long as possible. We don''t need a car so it''s just really easy to pop her in the stroller and go for walks, shopping, the park, etc. The city is very child friendly for the most part. We take her to restaurants and nobody really gives us dirty looks! There is just always something going on and you never feel lonely or isolated here so I think it''s exciting and stimulating for children. I could go on and on...

Ack...I forgot to complain. How could I do that?
11.gif
Tayva had a HORRIBLE night last night. She was up at 1 and would not go back to sleep in her crib. I brought her into our room and she slept until 5am, when she woke up screaming. At this point Dh''s lightbulb goes off and he realizes he forgot to give her her meds before bed. Now, I love DH to death and he was super dad last night-did her whole night time routine without me even asking- I usually have to lay out her PJ''s, get a washclothe for the bath, ect and he did it all by himself...but he forgot her meds! Ahhhhhh. She has been crabby all morning. I was trying to wean the swing naps but that is out of the question for today. I need my sanity! Ok. Vent over.

Lili, it is harder that she is mobile. I miss the days she just lounged on the boppy in the middle of our king size bed. No more! She never sits still. But it is darn cute watching her crawl around and interact with her surroundings.

Burk, good luck! I tried to look around the net but had trouble finding some! T is too tall
2.gif
Poor T. Hope you have a better day today.

diver, I think he is just at that age. J&K always makes me feel better about my life! Hope things get better for you!!!!

Thanks for all the water suggestions.

BTW DH is doing some painting. Should I worry about the fumes with T? I keep her out of the room.
