and can i just say that ur one talented lady !!! i LOVE those paintings!! i swear they look so professional and i would have gladly bought them from a store if i saw them!! i think u need to open up a business!!

ella: i searched for the puffs on amazon :D...i think ill end up order a few from there and try them out..and wat a scare about the fan!! eeeeek!!!! i unfortunately dont have much advice on how to best keep them away from it
7.gif

MrsS: welcome back mrss!!! cant wait to see some pics of Jake :)and i totally agree that ur niece looks like Amelia!!!

Qtiekiki: sorry to hear that M has a rash
7.gif
...i agree with the other who suggested to let her go bare for a while ...i totally depend on ''sudocream'' (not sure if u have it there?) for little K and i am so happy with it...

Diva: Good to hear from u..im glad that things have been decided and u''ll be moving with the in-laws..im sure this is all for the best and it seems ur getting the best deal out of all the options uve had :)

TGal: Amelia is so adorable!! and i love how u did the side by side comparison !!! MrsS niece does show quite a resemblance to ur daughter.....Re: stage 1 food..i pretty much did wat the others have said so far...started off with the veggies and tried to make sure that i gave him more veggies over sweet...

burk: hope all is well on ur end :)

tgal- love the pics of Amelia in the swimsuit. I swear she looks like she could be a sister to my neice. Here''s a pic of my sisters daughter...
OK, real quick as I am on a conference call (on mute, thank goodness). I just wanted to say...

Woah, yeah, mrss, I agree. Normally when people say someone lookes like so and so, I think (yeah whatever), but I looked at the photo and totally so my daugther! So obviously I think your niece is a doll...lol...
MrsS, your niece is so cute! She does look A LOT like Amelia! I thought it was a picture of Amelia! I had to double-check who posted it cause it looked so much like A!

MrsS: such a cute pic of jake opening up his mouth waiting for the next bite :)

Question: for those that gave sweet potato to their little ones, how did u serve them? just boil and mash it like mashed potato?? i was following a book of baby recipes and they said i had to ''strain'' the sweet potatoes because they had these very fine ''hair'' like threads/lines that the babies reject...it was such a hassle doing that!! wonder if u all had to do that too??

re:thread sub-division...i am honestly up for anything :) i DO have a connection (or id like to think so) with the other mommies who''ve all graduated to this thread with me...but the only reason for that is that our kids went thru the same milestones relatively close to each other and we shared ideas/research/tips and all that jazz...i would love to have ''newbies'' join as well because that will help refresh my memory for when i am ready to TTC by next year and it will help prep me to wats coming honestly...

i am not sure i will be able to keep up with the thread though as often as i do now once it starts to grow...i will still lurk and try to respond when i have something useful to say, but in all honesty, i doubt that i''ll have much time to keep up (thats wat happened with the preggo thread..it started to become way too fast for me...)

but i AM happy for the new mommies and the preggo''s and the TTC''s..i root for them and follow their story quite often, even if i dont comment on the other threads much..

Tacori, wow, I can't believe you did those paintings freehand. They are amazing! You are talented. I agree with the others, I'd buy your work! You could start a side business selling paintings and felt hair clips.
9.gif

TGal and MrsS, love the pictures of Amelia and Jake. I can't believe how big they are getting!

Tgal and MrsS--they ARE baby twins!!!! So cool/strange!

Tgal--I forgot to wish Amelia a happy 5-month the other day. I blew a kiss to my screen for her. Luv the new pics. I will have to get one of Cohen eating. I don''t have a high chair yet either so he''s been eating in the bumbo or his swing.
As i said before, if A doesn''t seem to have a problem with the paci i would keep it--i don''t mean to scare you with my tales of night terror-ha.
Love Amelia''s expression in that last pic. Does she have lots more hair or is it just the pictures?? I find Co looks like he has *some* hair in pictures, but not in person.

I hope Co doesn''t become a thumb sucker. I don''t want to break that habit (i was a thumby until age 3). I am surprised that "what to expect in the early years'' (and one other book i have) seems to advocate thumb over paci b/c it is a child-controlled comfort item. but if that habit becomes entrenched it could be so hard to break so i don''t really get that.
*sigh* who knows what will happen but I rarely see older kids with thumb *or* soother so i think it is 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other. All i know is that we both need more sleep
15.gif

Ha...I know...they really do look alike. I had half a mind to send the pic of MrsSalvo''s niece to TGuy and say, isn''t this a cute pic of Amelia? But I don''t think it would be very nice...especially if he didn''t realize it wasn''t her!

MrsS, Jake looks like a much better eater than A. She doesn''t open her mouth like that. She still is not knowing what is hitting her. But like Tacori said, I''ll expect it to be kinda tough for a month or so.

Jas, thanks! And I think she does have little more hair but it is still sparse looking, both in real life and some telling photos.

I noticed the same thing about thumbs vs pacis in those books Jas. Sometimes, it''s just too nutty being a mom with all we have to figure out.
40.gif

Yay for new photos!! Wow, look at Jake go - he looks pretty happy eating! Super cute
9.gif

And the resemblance between Amelia and MrsS''s niece is incredible - both beautiful girlies! They could definitely pass for sisters, no question about it. TGal, I think it would be hysterical if you pulled that photo prank on TGuy - let us know if you do! It''s funny when I see a single Bob because it looks so small to me, like "Where''s the other half?!"

G & K had their nine-month appt. this morning, and all is well. Gabe is 20 lbs, 1 oz and 29 inches long; K is 16 lbs, 14 oz and 27 inches long. They''re getting so big!! No shots at this appt. thankfully, so it was pretty smooth sailing.

msb, when I did sweet potatoes in the past, I baked the potatoes for 45-60 minutes until very tender and then pureed them, adding water if necessary. For my next round, I''ll just bake and mash them though. As for cheese, K can have cottage cheese, any hard cheese (cheddar, American, Colby, Parmesan), string cheese ... that''s all I can think of at the moment (and wholesomebabyfood site is down so I can''t check) but maybe Jas''s book has some others she can tell us about ... ?

mrssalvo!! Welcome back, we missed you!!!!!! Hope Jake is doing well, can''t wait to see more pics of him. And it is crazy that your niece and Amelia are like twins!! Too cute! Looking forward to catching up with you.

q, sorry about Meena''s diaper rash. We''ve been fortunate to have avoided it thus far but I agree with the others who said to keep her bottomless for a while. I know it''s tough with the poop and pee coming out but I think fresh air is the best thing. Which butt paste have you tried? I think Triple Paste is supposed to be really good...

Tacori, your artwork is fabulous! Girl, I would totally buy stuff from you--have you considered an ebay store?! I''m a dot whore too--it''s kind of ridiculous! I don''t know what it is about them...

Diva, I''m glad you made a decision about your situation. I think it''s probably the best thing for all of you. You must be relieved to have a solution for now. Sounds like James is doing well. Good job, mama!!!

Jas, I''m glad to hear Lily is properly attached! I was actually worried that she was a little too attached but I couldn''t figure out how that was possible since we''re not together 24/7 and haven''t been since she was 12 weeks old and I first put her in daycare. I guess it''s just going to take time. She cried when I picked her up last night but it wasn''t as bad. And she cried again this morning when DH dropped her off but he said her teachers intervened right away so at least they know what they''re doing. I hope another week will help get her on track.

Burk, hope you''re feeling better today.

lili, I think those clips are pretty expensive too, even though they are really cute. I wish I was creative enough to make them myself but I''m not!

ella, this is the one time in my life that I''m ok with being called a "senior"!!!! You are too funny! But I agree with everything you said. I''m excited for the new mommies but it''s going to be hard to keep up. I mean, I forget that I''m having a baby too--I relate more to being a mom than a preggo!

TGal, first of all, Amelia is toooooooo cute and totally the doppelganger to mrssalvo''s niece! She is just precious!!!! Regarding food order, we started with green and then moved on to yellow/orange. I just wanted to get peas and green beans out of the way first and she loved them so it was good. We did all veggies first and the fruits. Just keep in mind that pears and prunes make them poop and bananas stop them up! We actually only gave her prunes when she was constipated--didn''t feel any need to force that issue if it wasn''t necessary!
3.gif

msb, do you have string cheese there? Something plain like that is a good one to start with. Mozzarella is good or jack cheese that really doesn''t have a strong odor but a good consistency. Just cut it up into small pieces and see if he''ll give it a try. I can''t remember, does K like yogurt? You want to make sure he''s getting his calcium! I made my own sweet potatoes once and I know what they mean about the strings but it wasn''t really that bad. I just baked them in the oven and then mashed them up. But then I got lazy and my chef Gerber took over!

For those that read my ''Sacrifices'' thread - we''ve made the decision to move in with my in-laws. We''ll probably be moving in about 2 weeks. DH and I think that it''s the best decision for our family. If I want to work full-time, part-time or just quit I''ll be able to do that and we''ll be able to survive financially. Plus, as long as I am working at least part-time we''ll be saving a lot of money - for a downpayment on our own place
36.gif
. We are so sick of renting and moving in with the in-laws will allow us to save for that downpayment decades faster. Also, my MIL will be available to watch James at least 1 day a week while I''m working and and we may have a great-aunt that will be able to watch James at least 1 day a week so he''ll only have to go to a sitter a few times a week - saving us more money and my sanity.
Diva that is wonderful news! It sounds like a great plan and in the long run you will benefit financially and your son will benefit so much from living with/near so many loving family members. My grandparents were very involved in my life growing up and it is something I cherish so much now. What a gift to your son, even if you occassionally rue to day you moved in with your MIL

I have come up with a solution to the conundrum of whether or not to post baby pics! Below, I have used a random photo of an internet baby to demonstrate my brilliant solution
3.gif
Granted, it lacks a certain je ne c''est quoi, but no solution is perfect!

Tee hee. Actually I had never though of this issue. I love looking at the baby pics and would hate for them to stop, but I can understand not wanting one''s baby''s identity to be recognized!

Burk, Tessa loves her veggies too...well she loves everything (except some of the meats). I ALREADY think about what I am going to do for T''s big girl room. I can''t wait (but I can)!

TGal, she looks so cool in your BOB. Don''t worry about difficult feedings. She will get the hang of it and it will be much easier, quicker, cleaner! But I love the naked, bumbo style. I resorted to putting it right in the bathtub too for easy cleaning. The first month is MESSY! I don''t really know the color thing since my doc said to ignore it but it was something like start with orange, then yellow, then green (veggies first then fruits). 3 day wait in between (which I did do).I only have two other paintings I did here (my college one which is modern and a train) I''ll have to take some pics. My mom has a few I did (ballet dancers and tulips) but she wouldn''t give them up.

Snlee, I agree. My mom said she would help me (she used to quilt) when she comes for halloween. I am excited to try! Maybe someday I will sell some paintings. I just not sure I could sell them high enough to make it worth it.

msb, I give her colby but you can give them any hard cheese. My neighbor gives her boys string cheese. I have also given T some all natural cheese puffs. She LOVES them. They melt very quickly. Since K has teeth I wouldn''t mash up anything too much. If T can chew with 2 teeth, he''ll be fine!
2.gif
Thanks for the compliments on my paintings. I really enjoyed doing them. I am out of practice though!

Ella, sounds like the twins are doing great. K is such a little thing!

curly, glad I am not alone! DH teases me. You need to get Lily the dot pedipeds! SOOOO cute! I should look into what involves an ebay store. I have no idea. I guess I would need to do some inventory first. I did has a friend who is a lawyer about copy writes (since it was a PB design) and how much needs to be changed. She said she would ask a friend but I haven''t heard from her. I''ll have to find out. Obviously I would never want to get in trouble!

Tacori, we totally have those Pedipeds! Lily has outgrown them now but I think those were the first shoes I bought for her!! LOVE THEM!

T is still in the 0-6 months (yes she has tiny feet like her mama) but I have the 6-12 months ready and waiting! I love them. BTW I forgot to tell you I really love the name Lucy.

Ella, I did send the pic, but didn''t say it was Amelia. Just sent th two together and said "isn''t it amazing?" He saw very quickly it wasn''t Amelia and just wrote back "Who''s the other kid?"
1.gif

K is such a petite lady! I am sure that at 5 months Amelia is about 17 pounds and over 27 inches in length. I may measure her at home since we have a yardstick. Both of your babies are growing up so fast. I just love them. I was perusing through this thread looking for info and saw the Gabe "Tony Soprano" pic again and just started cracking up. It does it for me EVERY time!

Thanks again for the food tips ladies. Amelia is not interested after the success of her initial feeding. I''ll keep trying, but not forcing. I figure maybe it''s because the rice cereal is so blah. I have a jar of earth''s best first stage sweet potato that I''m dying to try but I am going to hold off.

DD, lol...kind of takes away the cuteness factor, no?
41.gif

Tacori, please do take pics...I really like seeing your work!

I need to look up what the pedipeds are....

Ella--i forgot to mention that your comments about the mommy thread were well spoken. i am totally open to having all the other moms to join but you got me thinking about an ''ages and stages'' division. Possibly a division like infants, toddlers, preschoolers etc. as we all ''outgrow'' one stage the next set of PSers step in to keep the thread going. It''s not so much a clique or purposeful exclusion as it is a form of organizing the dozens of new posters who will undoubtedly join each year. Who knows how long each of us will keep communicating via this thread (could u just imagine us posting our grandkiddies photos for each other one day?!) At some point it will be too ''crowded'' to work effectively no?
33.gif
...anyway, just some additional thoughts for everyone to mull over.

(and i apologize in advance if someone already brought up all these points, apparently i''ve just been scanning lately

TGal, for you...these are both paintings I did in college. This is of a train in Madison, WI (maybe you have seen it

For the circle mamas (Jas12, curly, Lili, anyone else I missed) This painting took me an entire quarter. It has 880 1" squares. I am inspired (and in awe) of the artist Chuck Close. I did a series of figures out of circles like this and my teacher said the circles NOT the figure was what was interesting. So this idea was born. I divided the canvas in 4. It was all about randomness. 1st section I picked colors out of a hat (blue, red, orange, green and purple). 2nd I made a mini canvas (of 220 mini squares) and threw M&Ms on it (assigned brown as purple and took out the yellows). 3rd I asked 220 strangers their favorite color (boy did guys think I was picking them up that night!). 4th was done with an old slot machine my parents have (with fruit) I assigned each fruit a color. It''s a huge painting and hangs in my dining...errr...I mean pool room.

Blah! Forgot to attach it. Jas12, I think that''s a great idea

Jas12, I like your idea about having threads for different ages and stages.

Tacori, I love the circle painting! Very cool!

Those are awesome Tacori! Oh my god, though...the work that had to have gone into the circles one. Was it tedious? It''s really cool....

Well, with the threads, we still have some time to see how it all goes, yes?

Thanks Snlee and TGal. TGal, it took forever! Plus it is in oil paint which takes forever to dry (but does give a cool texture). I remember driving it to class (b/c it is so big I didn''t want to walk to class with it) and getting paint (which I thought was dry) on the inside of my car
20.gif
Luckily my teacher only needed me to bring it in a few times. I always wanted to do more versions of it (even did some research) but time just slips away.

Tacori, your paintings are AMAZING!!! You are so talented!

Thanks Skippers!

WOW, Tacori you are one talented artist!!! I just LOVE your paintings. Very impressed, yet not surprised!!!

Ella, how cute! T is obsessed with a/c vents too. I think she likes to feel the ''wind'' blowing on her face. K looks darling in those clips. Makes me want one (or five)! Also I can''t believe how many teeth she has. Gabe is so cute too. Someone told me you aren''t suppose to cut their hair for the first year. Not sure if that is true or not.

Why is that?
Asian culture seems to be the opposite.
They shave the kids bald by first month of something.

Ella: I just saw G and K''s pictures OMG are they adorable or what??? They are the cutest twins!!! Love how she is bending over the vent. Just toooooo cute!!! You must have so much fun with the both of them. I would be snuggling with those two cutie pies all day.

Sorry to hear about the eggs allergy.
That''s great that they have egg free MMR shots.
I was wondering how you are going to handle it.

LindaW
What adorable costumes.
I''m curious as to what all the kiddies are going to dress as.

Tacori
Wow, you are talented.
Love all your art work.
And I know you can totally make those clips (probably even more creative).
Oh, in case you are wondering, they use the 30 mm snap clip for infants and toddlers.
40 mm for the big girls.

So what is Tessa going to be?
You like dots...the only thing that come to mind is a M&M
