PS Mommy Thread-Newborn to 12 months!

omg ginger J is talking up a storm too and i just love it. we lay him on the changing table and the convo begins. hahaha. and when i lay him down to sleep lately for naps he gets all serious and starts babbling at me. i''m like ''really? tell me more'' hahaa. so funny! and cute. and yep i love the bedhead...J has a constant case of it. A is so cute.

mtj... what a cutie she is!! i love her features. i''m half mexican, half persian and greg is norweigan and ukrainian and umm my kid is a whitey. a serious pinky whitey....hahaa. i just hope he doesn''t lose his dark hair or else no one will think he''s my kid at all!! i keep hoping maybe he''ll olive up as he gets older hehe.

so i''m happy to report i got the gray and black bumbleride indie today...YAY. WE HAVE A STROLLER. we saw it in the store and it was sooo easy to push, i can push it with one hand. and it fits in the trunk so sweetly. i got a 2009 on closeout but that CA tax just kills ya. however i could have gotten it online for about $50-60 less but it''s worth that to bring it home with us today AND online they mostly only had the orange and red ones. we saw the orange in the store but the lining was blue and i loved it but the light lining would prob show way more stains and dirt. AND the guy who helped us was so great so i forked the extra for the local support.

so THANK YOU mandarine for mentioning the bumble because that is a stroller i hadn''t even seen before much less considered!! almost no one carries them around here...it''s crazy.

creature is not napping so i better go tend to him... greg''s dad and stepmom are coming into town today for the wkd and are so excited to see their grandson. happy weekend all.

mara-LOL! J is a cutie! Jacky''s hair is black but she has patches of blonde hair on her right side of her head. It looks like her hair color will be changing!
8.gif

Thanks for all of the good birthday wishes! I really can''t believe that it''s been a year.

And I love all of the baby pictures!

Fiery - re: alarmist Dr Google. When DH gives me the "really?" face when I''m consulting Dr. Google, I tell him that Dr. Google just told me that I have testicular cancer. LOL. I got baby fever bad right now. I love the thought of smelling and holding a little little one. But we need to wait still. And you horrible modern mother you!
20.gif
(I think it''s funny that modern is an insult.
3.gif
)

Viz - 5 hours!!!!! I hope there''s much more of that to come.
I''m minorly paranoid about leaving G unattended in the bed. I once mistook him for being in a deep sleep and left him unattended on the bed just to go pee, and in that minute or whatever he fell off the bed. Such a horrible feeling. We now leave him in the crib for naps and early night (ie tv time!), and then cosleep later when we can be there with him.

Mara- I''m glad that you finally found the right stroller for you!

Viz Yayyyyyyy!!! Go Charlie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe he's feeling better form his ear infection and will naturally start stretching it out!!! Keeping my fingers crossed! You're such a good mama!. Love that picture, he looks like "whatcha looking at?"

Mara I somehow knew the bumbleride would just match you! hehehe. It's an awesome stroller! I have loved it from the very beginning and the only reason I didn't get it was because it wasn't a true jogger. If I had "just" one baby though I would have definitely gone for that one. Cute, stylish and functional!. That pic of J is hilarious! haha

Ginger OMG, that little smile
30.gif
30.gif
30.gif
ADORABLE!

MTJoya awww, she reminds me of my friend's baby girl! So precious!

Pandora I don't know what it is, but your pictures always somehow SHOW your bond with Daisy. Seriously, you can just tell you guys have this unspoken bond....that is very hard to catch in pictures!!! I love it!

Well...I forgot what else I was going to say...so that's all for now!

**

Little falls met their great-garndma tonight. Alex reacted by crying and screaming his head off. It was lovely!

Tomorrow they're getting baptized! I think I went over board with food and preparations...but it's going to be fun/special! I'll post pictures sometimes next week!!!

ETA: My spell check works whenever it feels like it...so I apologize in advance because I type while looking at the keyboard and I know I always mix up letters or miss letters all together!. So no spell check+vino = messy posts
9.gif

CDT: Yeah for Lex feeling better (and especially sleeping better!)

Steph: Cute Picture....and glad to hear that he is doing a bit better

Mandy: Great picture of the boys...have fun with the baptism and stay sane with family in town!

Viz: Woohoo on 5 hours! Woohoo on no more ear infection!

Mara: J is too cute!

Socal: Ahh those eyes!

Fiery: I always put E in the crib during dinner. I want to enjoy my meal...normally he just plays in there quietly until we done. Such a nice gentleman already!

Mt: She''s beautiful!

Pandora: Daisy must have had fun at the aquarium....I love Daisy stories.

Ginger: I''m starting to fee redundant here---but soooo adorable!

Nothing new to report on my side. We are all happy and healthy and sleeping great! Now that I''ve said all of this I''m sure it''s all going to go down the toilet...but whatever!

Here is Evan at Easter going for his basket

Viz - yay for 5 hours sleep!!! Awesome!!! I hope this is the start of regular sleep for you and charlie! cute pic of him, too.

cdt - I like the hot pink shirt too. So cute!

steph - Evan's smile is darling...

Mandarine - such a contrast between the two expressions. Lol! Their hair is really growing.

Sabine - Jacks is so cute in his little outfit!

Mara - love Julian's expression!

socalgirl - love those big blue eyes. Stunning!

mtjoya - it's nice to see another girlie around here. Love those big cheeks!

gingerB - what a cutie! Love those twinkly eyes.

Pandora - wow....that aquarium looks so amazing. I would be so mesmerised...I can imagine how much Daisy enjoyed it.

tavo - cute! Evan really seems to like his Bumbo.

Here's a photo of Dalila from yesterday, at 4.5 months...

I think the whole daycare thing is confusing to her. All of a sudden I'm gone for hours, then I pop up at luncthime, then I'm gone again and back a few hours later. On top of that she has to get used to all these new faces all at once. There are three women at the daycare place next door who watch her from MOn- Tues, and then my mother has her for the next three days. I don't think she knows what to think with all the people popping in and out, holding her and reading to her and what not.
40.gif
Today I came home for lunch and tickled her chin as usual, thinking she'd break out into her usual grin, but she just stared at me....
7.gif
After a few minutes she seemed to 'warm up' to me again, though.

This photo is a bit blurry, but I thought it was cute, too....

Aww! Thanks ladies for the bebe comments! I always seem to take pics when she looks mad! LOL..here goes around one!

Sha-What a cutie! I luff the hand pic!

Tao-You seem to always take the cutest pics of your LO. I luff them!

mt: Ha, she''s probably like, "ugh! Mommmmm!!! Stop with the pictures already!" Evan gets that way sometimes too. He just kinda stares the camera down and then I put it away in shame..hehe.

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures!

And yup he enjoys the bumbo a lot more now. About a month ago he couldn''t stand it and would only go in for a few minutes. The only time I managed to get him to stay in it longer was when American Idol was on. Now that we feed him in it...he associates it with food I think so he will stay in it even longer. hehe.

Evan woke up at 8:48 today!!

E B - Meant to say earlier - thanks for the tip on ordering the Earth''s Best boxes from Amazon. I''ll check out the link.

tao i put J in the bumbo now but kind of still hold him up for a few minutes so he can start to get used to it, but he totally doesn''t seem to like it much right now. hehe.

mtj so cute..! i love the little angry faces they make.

quick Q re: pumping. lately it''s been taking me a good 10-15 min to experience the right let down for pumping. but when i feed J i know he gets the milk within a minute or two. why is pumping taking so long now to get going? any tips? i end up sitting there for 30-35 min pumping now when it used to be 15-20.

AND i think these stupid larger flanges are too big. its so hard to tell, i can''t find a flange that doesn''t hurt when it pulls or feels like it''s sucking extra skin in. so i''m going to get the middle size and figure something has to work. on a yay note... i pumped 6.5oz this morning.

Aw, Sha, love the hand shot!

Mara, glad you finally settled the stroller debate!

Since I"m late to BPF, I''m going to add two pics.

Got to sleep in (after feeding Claire at 3 and 6 a.m.) until 10 this morning. Yay. When I woke up DH had dressed Claire in a ridiculously cute outfit (the second pic with the hair bow). The first pic is one of our better attempts at tummy time -- the girl just does not like it and flips herself over immediately unless I distract her with her piano toy or the camera. She''s definitely aware of the camera and Flip video now and will stop what she''s doing to pose.

clairetummytimeapril.jpg

I love how expressive she is in this picture.

clairecutehairbowapril.jpg

Your husband definitely dresses the baby up better then mine does!! So cute!!

look. lol

we have to run -- going to grandma''s for A''s first crawfish boil
18.gif
well, mom and dad get crawfish, A gets his usual BM
3.gif
. but i had to stop by and say 6 hours last night people -- 6 HOURS! of course most likely it''s a fluke and we didn''t get to fully enjoy it as it was the early portion of the evening and we were so jumpy waiting for him to wake up. but that means it IS possible!! i don''t expect this again tonight but it was a very nice surprise last night

Awwwww........

Your DH got skillz!

gingerB- that''s fabulous!
1.gif

Thanks for the compliments. DH is pretty good at stuff like that. My coworkers call him a "metrosexual" (but keep in mind that we live in the city, and they don''t, so I think it''s a cultural thing).

OK, so guess what . . . Claire can sit up for a whole minute by herself!!!! I was getting really nervous after the daycare "homework" and Evan being a sitting up prodigy that we were behind the boat (J/K Tao, although I am impressed!). Just a few days ago she couldn''t stay upright by herself for more than a couple of seconds. Yay!

Ha...Evan can''t do it for a full minute everytime though! And he only does it when he wants to do it...otherwise he will lock his knees and force us to lay him down!

CUTE babies!!!

Viz~yay for C!!! Any more 5 hour stretches?

Ginger~yay for 6 hours!!

Things around my house are busy. Sold our house, building new house, bought another new house as investment/to live in while other house is being completed. And, K has thrush, therefor I have it. BOOOOOO.......

Sorry for the crappy attempt at catching up. Kids are both in bed so I need to pack. I hate moving. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

in laws are gone. it was a great weekend with them and they of course are just enamored with J, first grandchild on both sides. the poor kiddo was a bit off his routine what with all the things we were doing this wkd but it was fun. he will be sooo disappointed to realize tomorrow he's stuck with just mom again and all the fun is over hehe.

ginger, yay for A sleeping better!! i hope he continues...!
viz, hope you guys are also enjoying the longer stretches continuously.
burk, boo on thrush, you poor thing and poor K!!
pg, those pics are so cute! i hope J likes tummy time soon. and yay for sitting up.
rps, i hope you are still hanging around, please post, we need a ben update!

yesterday we got to drive the new stroller around and do a little 'offroading' on some packed sand roads and it was a dream. it even went over bumps and ditches quite well. the kid seemed to like it too, he was all blanketed in on the reclined position with his pacifier and was just chillin' out looking around. i can see how moms would want the sun shade to be a bit lower but i think we can toss a blanket over it if we needed to. so far that's the only thing i can see being a bit of a drawback.

J seems to be in the middle of a growth spurt. greg mentioned his ribcage seemed bigger and he was doing a fair amt of chilling out then letting out a bloodcurdling scream from nowhere thing this wkd. and he is eating and wanting to suck a lot, more than usual it seems.

a late confession from friday... we only give J a bath maybe every 4 days. i figure he's still pretty sterile but we do want to try to get better about fitting bathtime in like every other day. it's hard during the week because most days by the time G gets home and gets us dinner it's time to start J's bedtime routine. i do wipe him down with a wet towel every morning but it's not quite the same.

oh also forgot to add that i am so glad that my boobs seem to be producing more once again. i just added J back on the boobs for like a snack feed in the afternoon which seemed to do the trick, so now i am building a stash in the fridge again. whew.

burk - i can not believe you can PACK and MOVE AND have a little bitty one and a toddler.. holy crikey woman! i can barley find time to take a shower... what am i doing wrong? YUCCKKOO about the thrush! i was always fearful of that w/C - a compound pharmacy can make dr newmans nipple cream - it also has a tiny bit of a steroid in it that will prevent further thrush and clear yours up.. anyhoo i LOVED it when BF - healed those suckers right up ;)

ginger - wha wha whaaaaaa????? 6 hours girlie????
36.gif
36.gif
36.gif
36.gif
36.gif
hip hip hooray!!!! do tell, what has he done it again?

yeah, that 5 hour stretch was a fluuuuuuke... hasn''t done it since - HOWEVER, he now - seemingly - only likes to sleep on his belly and will go for a good 2 hours that way. i guess i''ll take 2 hr stretches over 45min ones
5.gif

pg - lol about the sitting.. i was all about practicing sitting too after your LOs were either told to do homework or were already stellar sitters (ahem tao).. anyhoo.. C is sitting on his own for mins at a time too! and LOVES it... doesn''t really want to be laying down anymore. if he''s not in his exersaucer he''s in this little seat on the kitchen counter - one of the BEST seats IMO because it has toys and a tray that surround it so no chance in falling out.. i have no idea who makes it because it was a hand me down but i love it soooo much more than the bumbo.. and the entire circle tray detaches too.

this is the best picture i have of it...

csupercoolseat.jpg

Ginger-A is adorable!
Tao-E is sitting up really well! He''s so cute!
Sha-D is beautiful! S has her moments when she does the same to me.
Phoenix-Claire is beautiful as well! She''s getting so big, I can''t believe it! Sophia hated tummy time too and it took her FOREVER to learn how to roll.

Mara-Glad the boobs are working properly again

*********
So we didn''t go to the party on Saturday. We left the aquarium early because I noticed she was starting to sneeze a lot and her eyes were a little puffy. At around 8pm I was getting ready for the party and putting her to bed when she felt hot and sure enough she had a fever. Not a high one but I could tell she was feeling weak so we stood home. I slept on her floor that night and took her temp throughout the night. When it got higher I gave her some tylenol. Yesterday she was fussy all day and really only wanted to be held which was fine. I was giving her some dinner and she threw up everywhere which was good since it got a lot of stuff out of her system. Then around 6pm, I had her sitting on the floor with me and she put her head on my thigh and fell asleep. She slept until 7am. I snuck in there around 11 and gave her 4oz since she threw up all of her last bottle (and also changed to her overnight diaper since I didn''t anticipate her falling asleep like that). Poor girl.

I hate that she''s sick and I''m at work
14.gif

cuuutte pic of C viz. 2 hours is better than 45 min for sure...! hope it keeps improving. are you guys doing the cosleeping with him on his tummy?

fiery sorry to hear about sophia being sick...poor thing!! sounds like all this sleep is what she needs. hope she is better soon.

i've started experimenting w/J to see if he can be left to nap with his arms out or one arm etc. it seems like if he has arms out he won't ever fall into a deep sleep...not that his reflex startles him so much anymore but he just seems more 'restless' if left with limbs exposed. so i'll start with him down with one arm out, he will get the other out and kind of entertain himself for 15 min usually, sometimes he will sleep intermittently for a few minutes then wake up. eventually he gets fussy and starts flailing madly. so i go in and swaddle and shhh him til he falls to sleep. i am hoping that just getting used to being arms out in his crib out will eventually lead him to be more relaxed with them and able to really fall to sleep.

(lol i just realized how funny it sounds to hope that being alone with his arms will make him more comfortable for sleep...well you know what i mean)..
5.gif

on the flip side to this day i love to be 'encased' in blankets and mostly prefer my arms in and sometimes nestled up near my face which is how he also likes to sleep, he often gets out one arm and then tosses it over his face and sleeps long stretches that way (with me going in to make sure he's not smothering himself!)...so maybe he will always be one of those that prefers fabric or limbs near his face. who knows.

when does the risk of SIDS decrease for the babies? i would imagine once they are able to move more easily on their own...so maybe around 5-6 months?

it's gloomy and rainy here today so we're just hiding inside.

Hello all, waaay too far behind to catch up on anything.

Fiery: so sorry little Sophia is sick!

Mand: I hope the baptism went well! I''m still working on Piper''s- we at least have the Godparents planned out!

Sha: love the pic of Dalila!

myjoya: I love the pics of Jacqueline!

Tao: I love that Easter basket picture, I feel bad because we really didn''t do anything for P''s first Easter, we''ll probably get her a PBK basket now that it''s all going to be on sale!

PG: Love the outfit on Claire, my husband does a pretty good job of keeping Piper looking cute, which is great for her, I can barely put an outfit on her! Yay for sitting up!!

Ginger: yay for the 6 hours of sleep! Piper didn''t do that for months!!

Burk: So sad about the thrush!! I can''t even imagine how you do it all with a toddler, too.

Mara: I''m glad to hear you love your new stroller! We have a Baby Jogger (City Mini? it was a gift from my SIL, I know it''s Baby Jogger, but that''s it), but have yet to actually use it. We still need to fill the tires as they are the bicycle type ones. Awesome on the more milk production!

Viz: C is sitting on his own, too? Awesome!! Bummer about the super long stretch of sleep not lasting another night, but yay on the two hour stretches instead of 45 minute ones!

As for me: I FINALLY moved Piper to her room. Sure she''s in her bassinet, but she''s in her nursery!! She seems to like it okay, since I did it she "talks" ALL NIGHT. I''ve noticed she talks when she''s sleepy, just kind of chattering while I''m trying to soothe her, but now she wakes up and talks. Sometimes she''ll talk herself back to sleep, other times she just wakes herself up more. Is this common? It''s so weird. It''s like she enjoys the accoustics more in there than our bedroom. When I went in to get her to go to work this morning she had rolled on her side and tucked her lovey in, it was super cute.

? for EBF moms who are feeding cereal: do you pump breastmilk to mix in or just hand express it? We''re still a month and change off from solids, but just keeping track for myself.

Hello, ladies. Hope you all had a nice weekend. We had a fun time getting out and about in this wonderful weather we''re having here. E slept 10.5 hours last night and has been sleeping pretty much all day today, so it''s given me a chance to catch up on cleaning our house. But now it''s time for him to wake up and play so he''ll sleep tonight! He pretty much fought off the cold he was getting. I called the doc and they said not to worry about bringing him in unless he had a fever and/or lost his appetite. I guess he just needed to rest a lot. Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

Mara, funny pic of J from the weekend. He''s still a cutie even when he''s mad!! And congrats on the new ride for J, I''m sure he''ll love it!

So Cal, very cute...love E''s pretty blue eyes!

Pandora, Love the aquarium pics...I''m sure D had a great time!

Fiery, so sorry S is sick...hope she feels better quickly.

Viz, cute pic of C and yea for healed ear infections!

Mtjoya, J is so adorable...I just love her dark hair!

Ginger, A is such a doll...love his little smile!

Mandi, hope the Baptism went well.

Tao, E looks really into his Easter basket...so cute!!

Sha, aww D is too cute...she looks like such a calm and happy baby!

PG, C is so adorable! Love all her pink everywhere!

Burk, I can''t even imagine how you are moving with 2 little ones. I hope you get a few minutes of relaxation soon!

Amber, yea for moving P into her own room...that''s a big step!!

Hi, CDT, Dreamer, Blen and anyone else I might have missed!

FL, glad E is on the mend, and Fiery, sorry Sophia is sick! Is this her first sickness (other than the kidney reflux)? Jacks has yet to actually get sick, but I''m paranoid that he''s getting sick all the time. I almost want him to get a cold at one point to just get that "first sickness" over with.

Mara, I *believe* SIDS risk goes down significantly around 6 months, but it''s still a risk up to a year or so.

Viz, sorry you didn''t get any repeat 5 hour stretches, but hopefully the tummy sleeping will help him go longer and longer. Love the pic!

Hi
35.gif
everyone else!

Today is a big day for us...Jackson is officially CRAWLING!!! I still can''t believe he pulled to stand before he crawled! I think he''s had the ability to crawl for a while (could get to hands and knees, just had no desire to move forward) and he''s been getting around for a while, but I''m glad he can finally crawl...

Especially since Robbie and Des are on their way! Can''t wait to see Jacks and Des playing together now that they are both mobile!

Mara-Ditto Sabine on decreasing after 6 months. I think its because babies are just more aware. When I''m in Sophia''s room putting laundry away or cleaning up and she''s napping, I can tell that she''s a lot more aware of her space. We have bumpers in the crib since she has this obsession with putting her hands/legs through the slots and then screaming
20.gif
. Once she scooted while sleeping all the way to the top corner and had her face digging into the bumper. I waited to see what she would do and within seconds she turned her face. Doesn''t mean she''s 100% free of dangers but it makes me feel a lot more comfortable knowing that she can recognize when she''s uncomfortable.

That and she sometimes sleeps with her butt in the air and her face on top of her 2 hands
20.gif
.

Amber-Yay for Piper being in her room!! Totally normal on the talking and it''s a blessing in disguise. It means she can entertain herself which comes in handy when you are dragging your feet in the morning
9.gif

Steph-Yay for E feeling better!

Sabine-Have a lot of fun with Robbie and Des! Please post pictures
9.gif
. They are so cute playing together. And a big
36.gif
to crawling! Sophia still doesn''t get it although she is finally learning how to go from sitting to her belly without flopping on to the ground lol. Re: sick, she''s been sick a bunch. I think she has a weak immune system. She got her first major cold while I was bfing, has had another cold since then (this would be her 3rd one), and got a stomach virus. The nasal congestion is the worst because she HATES the saline drops.

Anyone have a cool mist humidifier and can tell me what it does exactly? I don''t get it. We bought one Sat. night and used it but I just feel like it''s spitting out cold and wet air
14.gif

Fiery, the cool mist actually stuffs Piper up, which I realized the other day. I don''t know about other babies, though.
