PS Mommy Thread-Newborn to 12 months!

Hi ladies and happy Friday! Just a quick note from my Iphone while pumping since we are in Hawaii. It''s beautiful here, we are having a great time with our friends. And J seems to be doing well with my mom and sis, so far staying on routine, keeping fingers crossed he continues.

Just wanted to chime in and say love the photos. Sooooo cute!!!

Monkey - How are you feeling? So odd to hear your description of Micah as a newborn...you really could be describing Calvin! He was super super alert. First thing the doc and nurses said at all of his pediatrician visits. Even strangers would comment on it! He had head control from like 2-3 weeks on...I think it was because he wants to see what he wants to see, and well, you can''t do that if someone else is deciding on what you are going to look at. He never went through that blobby newborn stage...he was always really present, if that makes sense. Calvin was rolling over from about 3 weeks on too! Our pediatrician had difficulty believing that he did it intentionally, until he did it on the exam table. I think he hated tummy time so much he learned to roll to get out of it! And Calvin was a really really good night sleeper (started going 12 hours at about 3 months) but man, he was a crap napper. Never more than 30 minutes a time, but he was really pleasant and not tired when he was awake. Anyway, moral of the story, Micah sounds a lot like Calvin. And the babymoon, so to speak, never ended with him. He was/is a happy baby...

This makes me super happy! I really hope Micah is like Calvin - a 12 hour night of sleep sounds like ambrosia. I''m not used to waking up so much and I am one of those people that can''t really function without at least 8 hours of sleep, so this is really killing me despite what a good baby Micah is being.

Gosh I love BPF. You all seriously have the cutest babies ever, I can hardly stand it. Here is my contribution - Micah and his daddy. It''s funny, in this picture they look a lot more alike than they do IRL. I honestly can''t decide which of us he takes after, but he totally has his daddys lips!

He looks a lot like his Daddy! Aw I want a newborn now!!

Such beautiful babies, everyone!

We went to a May Day event this morning. J is going to a baseball game tonight, so it will be just me and my girl. I bought Jane a playmat, she seems to like it so far. She''s been sleeping in her pack''n''play a bit more. All is well in our world.

Ginger, hope you''re doing okay.

Cute pics!

MonkeyPie - Micah is such an alert baby. Such bright eyes!

OK, I''m late to BPF, and this isn''t even a great pic, but here is my girl ready to chomp down on some grown up food!

This is the third weekend of my birthday festivities! DH talked about planning a big dinner, and then didn''t plan it, and then I got sad, and then he tried to plan a big dinner on two day''s notice, but only a hand full of people could show up, but it was fun and better than some big to-do with a month''s notice where I would have just felt sad if people couldn''t come. This way I just felt grateful anyone showed up. Plus I got a cookie cake. And three people bought me recipe books! Is that all you can think to get a woman who''s about to become Summer All Year PG? I know, all she''ll ever do from now on is cook . . .

The AP exam is this week, and then I can relax. Well, as much as I relax, I guess. We''ve told daycare that we''re pulling Claire a week after school lets out so I can have a week to decompress. It''s likely I''ll have to go in to school one or two days during that week to clear out my classroom anyway.

Phoexix - thats the cutest pic!

All the other babes are gorgeous too

Super cute pg!!

Okay, this problem might make some people mad...

Evan has been sleeping a lot.

He woke up yesterday at 9:40 a.m.. Took a nap at about 11:30 for roughly an hour. I brought him over to my moms and he fell asleep in the car on the way there (around 1:30-2:00). He woke up for about 20 minutes and he was fussy so I put him back down for a nap at my mom''s. He slept there for 3 1/2 hours! went down for bed around 9:30 (About an hour later than normal for him---we took him to see his other set of grandparents).

Today...he is still asleep and it is 11:00 a.m. (He woke up once for us to pop a pacifier in his mouth around 4 a.m.)! I even went in and cleaned up his room and he didn''t wake up!

He just turned 6 months yesterday and I think he has a tooth coming in....so maybe he''s one of those babies that will sleep through these things instead of being a fussy pants about it???

He isn''t showing any other weird signs of being sick or anything....I brought him up to our job the other day and he was so flirty with everyone...definitely not sick.

Tao, glad you don''t have a fussy pants on your hands! I hope the good sleep continues!

Has anyone gone off the mini-pill to see if it helps with libido? I''m thinking about it, about just using condoms. They should be just about as effective as the mini-pill, right? I actually don''t really care. At this point with Summer All Year PG about to be launched and Claire 6 months old, getting pregnant now wouldn''t be the worst thing that could happen. It would be better than no libido! I guess I''m just not sure if the libido issues are from the minipill or just from nursing hormones in general.

I''ve yet to actually buy any baby food (first my sister gave me oatmeal, then a coworker gave me jarred bananas and carrots that her baby wouldn''t eat anymore), so today I''m going to enter a whole new world (the baby food aisle). My American Academy of Pediatrics book talks about giving your baby meat . . . meat in a jar? Hmmm. Sounds gross.

Oh, and we got a high chair, the Graco Blossom 4-in-1. We''ve used it once, but so far so good. Of course, it''s another giant contraption in our smallish downstairs, but we''re making it work. DH wanted just to get a booster, and the Fisher Price space saver had good reviews, but the Graco Blossom comes with a booster option, and as Soon to Be Summer All Year PG, I wanted to have the option of a full sized chair if I''m going to be using it every day, 3x a day.

Just popping in really quickly to say how much I love seeing everyone''s babies. They''re all so adorable!

Drk -- that''s the BEST picture ever! You''ve got one HAPPY girl on your hands!

Question - those of you with c-sections, how long did the bleeding last? I was under the impression it would be a short time, but it''s been three weeks and I''m not sure what is the norm.

SO ADORABLE!!! All the babies are just so cute!!!

Sorry I''ve been MIA....I''ve just been busy!!!

Just wanted to pop in quickly for MP re c-section bleeding. I bled for almost 6 weeks....and then I had one or two weeks off...and then I got my period! haha. So hang in there...

Tomorrow my little guys get their shots
14.gif

I''d expect the same as a vag delivery - I bled/spotted for 6 weeks.

Aw, nuts! Thanks ladies - I thought it would be less time. Crud!
3.gif
I am dying for some sexy time.

ETA: I hope all goes well for them, Mandy

wow i thought i''d have pages and pages to catch up on when we got home but it''s only 1/2 a page!! where IS everyone??

we got home from Maui tonite and it was such an absolutely wonderful time..it was amazing to get away, we joked about our vacation routine and how quickly we fall right back into it...basically it consists of get up, work out, eat breakfast, pooltime, nap, then dinner out. rinse and repeat. if we had a longer trip we would have done a bit more like ATV or snorkeling but since it was really only 3 days and we had to much catching up to do with our friends we were busy the whole time when we weren''t poolside. anyway, the group time was fun, the resort was fabulous and the wedding was beautiful. i actually wished we had one extra day when we had to get up early this morning but i think it was just the right amt of time.

and J was a STAR for my mom and sis apparently. other than them realizing (HELLO) that he is ''high maintenance''...aka you can''t just put him down somewhere anymore and expect him to blob out there, he wants constant entertainment or ''input''... he slept his regular hours for them, totally stayed on his schedule and was apparently a good boy. there were a few small snafus but nothing big. and they really enjoyed the time with him too.

when we got home tonite he was freshly bathed and ready for bedtime bottle...i was a little sad to feel like he didn''t really miss us at all. he didn''t break out into smiles when he saw us or anything. but i know he is still young and maybe he didn''t even realize we were gone. and mom was like ''of COURSE he missed you''...hehe..not sure how you KNOW but ok. we fed him, cooed at him, wrapped him and put him down and he was out within 2 minutes!! so maybe he is happy to be home. i can''t wait til he gets up tomorrow and we do our morning talk-show routine where i unswaddle him and he talks to me.

and apparently he is doing more GIGGLING now which i realized when i was swaddling him and had to pull the blanket down from being too high around his shoulders and it kind of shimmied him down a bit when i was pulling and he started totally giggling from the shaking of his body. SO cute...so of course i had to do it like 10 more times until he was giving me the look. anyway, we were gone only 4 days but i feel like he already changed!

butttt the time away was so great, i am already mentally planning our next trip, probably this fall.
3.gif

tao...maybe a growth spurt? but yay for sleep!
drk...that was the best picture ever!!
mp...glad to hear you guys are doing well! J is like LL''s C...always wants what greg calls ''input''...if he is bored he''s unhappy but if he is being entertained or in a new environment he just loves it. people always say how good he is, and i tell them it''s because he''s interested in them or where he is. if he wasn''t, oh boy we''d all know!!

hope everyone is doing well...!!!

tomorrow i start work

. well technically today as it is 1230 am as i type (and pump).

had a nice last eveniong of maternity leave. we took a walk through the neighborhood and i just carried A in my arms. it was hubbs, me, A, and chewy (our yorkie for those who don''t remember/know) two popsicles and an uncharacteristically nice day in houston.

gave A an extra long snuggle before putting him down for bed tonight.

i''m blue

===================================================================================================
kim - thanks for checking up on me. so glad J is doing so well!

tao - ooooh...so jealous of your problem. wish A would sleep through a growth spurt. wish A would just sleep!
3.gif

pg - yay for a good b-day!

drk - how goes the supply? any progress?

mara - sounds like an awesome trip! glad J is still on point
36.gif
. and rotfl on other ppl (grandparents) realizing our bitty babies aren''t always the cooing bundle of joy they seem ALL THE TIME. it takes a LOT of work to keep them happy that way!

Real quick question before heading to work:

Do you think 10 hours with a dry diaper is a big deal? I called the advice nurse and she said to give her a bottle and wait until 9am to see if she urinates. It''s just weird that she would wake up with a completely dry diaper. There wasn''t even a little drop of urine and normally she has a full diaper (which is why we use overnights).

Whenever it comes to her urine I freak out because of her kidney reflux. Just curious if this is something that just happens sometimes. She has never woken up with a dry diaper.

Her pedi called and said he wants to see her anyway. He''s worried she either has an infection or is dehydrated. She doesn''t have a fever so I''m hoping it''s not an infection (both because I don''t want her to go through a cath again and if she doesn''t have a fever that means I can''t easily identify when she has an infection). And if she''s dehydrated then that pretty much means I suck as a parent so either way
14.gif
.

She seems to be in good spirits though which is most important.

fiery - i'd be concerned... let us know what the pedi says! hopefully she just didn't feel like going last night and isn't related to her reflux.

ginger - the first day back at work is the worst! fwe are here for you if you need to vent or just talk about how stinky today is! ((HUGS))

__________

can i do a whoa is me post??? on top of the FIFTH FLIPPING EAR INFECTION we are dealing with........
........i'm feeling really confused/sorry for myself. i'm about 1 hour of sleep away from completely losing it and doing CIO!! i really really really don't want to but i'm at my whits end! i can't get this kid to sleep for more than 3 hours! - and even that is a joke b/c he wakes up every hour and requires a little pat on the bum to go back to sleep for another hour.

HELP!!!!

a "typical" night is as follows - i can't even talk about his napping situation b/c it's just as bad (the short version is that he gets 2 30mins naps at daycare)

7:30p - bedtime routine - by the time he finishes his bottle, i burp him and hold him for a few mins he is practically asleep. but the SECOND i lay him on the bed he wakes up!

7:45-8:15p - c rolls around on the bed for about 30 mins pulling his paci out then getting ticked that it's out of his mouth - i put it back in (rinse, repeat). after about 1/2 hour of this i see the tired eyes again. i put the paci back in, hold his arm down and he falls asleep.

(five mins after falling 'asleep')- he is up again - i pat his butt until he falls asleep.
(if we are lucky, he doesn't wake up again.... but sometimes we can do this 3 times before he is out out)

8:30-9:30p - DH and i have 'alone time'

10:00p - my bedtime

11:30 - c starts rolling around and cries - feed him 6oz

12a-2a - if we are LUCKY he will go back to sleep after some holding and patting

2:30 - wakes up, rolls around and cries - feed him 6oz
then he's UP until like 5!
his eyes are closed but he's rolling around, grunting, whining
and it's usually at this point where he has peed so much that his pjs are soaked so we have to change him
39.gif
which wakes him up even more and then it's back to hold, pat, rock.

5:30 - wakes up, rolls around and cries - feed him 6oz
and then he is up for the day (but gets tired again at 7:00 - right when i have to go to work!)

i'm LOSING IT!!
and i don't even know at what point in the night i would even attempt CIO - he's still eating sooo much. i don't know if i would do it when he's going to sleep? or when he wakes up at 11:30 or when he won't go back to sleep after the 2:30ish feed?????

he's sooo tired when he wakes up in the morning.. but smiling.

i'm grumpy viz today....

ETA: aaaaaannnnnnnndddddd i'm pretty sure c is allergic to peas. i tried them last week and his poo for the next three days was DARK GREEN w/ black flecks... which was how his poo looked when we discovered his milk protein intolerance. so i feel awful that i gave him food that made his little bowels bleed.

Fiery- Hopefully it was just a fluke. Let us know what the ped says. And btw, you are a great mom. In fact, I had this weird dream last night where DH and I were on separate flights and somehow O was on his OWN flight as well and you were at the airport and when I saw you I had this huge feeling of relief b/c you were on O''s flight and I was all, oh, well FIERY is with him and I totally trust her to make sure O is ok. NEVERMIND that in my dream I didn''t throw a fit with the airlines or that the airlines would even allow that. So silly.

VIZ- How is he getting so many ear infections???? Poor little man. I don''t have any answers for you right now, but just wanted to pop in and tell you that something''s gotta give here. You NEED some sleep. I bought this book called The Sleep Lady''s Sleep Tight, Good Night and is more of a "gentle" approach to help wean the baby off night feedings, teach them to self-soothe, etc. but not using CIO. Have you read it? If not, I am happy to skim some of what applies to you and let you know so you can see if it''s worth picking up. I bought it b/c it has a chapter on how to stop rocking to sleep. It also has chapters on different ages, which I find really helpful as they change so much. Haven''t really read much of it so can''t say whether it''s helpful or not BUT at this point, you gotta try something!

Ginger- Hope your first day is going well. Just remember that it does get better/easier. The first two weeks were absolute misery for me, mostly due to exhaustion of trying to work and then O started getting up again. But he will get into a routine and so will you. Glad you guys had such a lovely day yesterday. We''ve been having happy hour on our porch in the evenings and I am going to be so bummed when the heat really settles in and that becomes impossible. Thinking of you today!

fiery... you seriously don't suck for not knowing she might be sick or dehydrated, esp if she is not showing any signs of discontent. i hope it's all ok and she just didn't feel like going. once or twice after 11 hours of sleep J has had a really dry diaper but i can't tell if its ENTIRELY dry or just feels that way since they are the baby dry. but then his next diaper will be FAT.

viz... i am sorry i have no advice on the sleeping situation since it seems like you have tried a lot of diff things i wouldn't even know what to suggest. i am a sleep freak, so i prob would have done CIO a long time ago because the whole 'needs' rocking, patting, etc alllllllll night long just does not seem like it really ever works long term (plus i would have passed out from sleep deprivation by like 3am, forget going til 7am, you really are superwoman!).

i think i have said this before and not sure if you considered it but have you looked into a local sleep trainer? i have a coworker who did this and i think it worked pretty well...i haven't talked to her lately but she took some classes and had a consultant try to help her with her 9 month old. if you have something like that, i would TOTALLY try it before doing CIO. i think they come in and watch your habits for a few hours or maybe a whole night, not sure, and then try to fix things, maybe like supernanny.

a lot of times i feel like as parents we are so close to what is happening, that sometimes it is hard to take a step back to SEE, forget even knowing how to 'fix' it. if you have access to an experienced third party that can help, i would totally get them involved.

was C early at all? i remember reading somewhere that early or premature babies can have a harder time with sleep regulation, not sure exactly why but it just stuck with me.

and it is amazing to me he eats 12oz at night! is he still eating less during the day? its too bad you guys can't get him to take that during the day instead of at night, i wonder if some of it is comfort feeding. not quite the same but when J wakes up a few hours early, i know he is probably not HUNGRY but it's almost like he needs the 'routine' of unwrapping, feeding, rewrapping to fall back asleep sometimes. sometimes he doesn't but the days he does i don't feel like it's hunger that is keeping him from falling back to sleep but maybe he gets 'too awake' and then can't sufficiently self-soothe.

my big news for today is that my bb's seem to hate my pump now that i was on vacation for 4 days. it's like they are on strike. i have to keep the suction on too high for my taste to do anything...boo. i hope they go back to normal before my nipples fall off.

ginger..BOO on first day of work and even returning to work! these are my last 2.5 weeks and i am already hating it. i hope it goes well and that A is super snuggly when you get home.

viz..girl don't feel a whit of bad for feeding your kid peas, you're not psychic and couldn't know he was allergic. trial and error. and UGH on the 5th ear infection? did you ever say why he's so prone? is it just a kid thing?

so, at what age did you all start putting your little one in their own crib in their own room? i think i recall mara saying 3 weeks? what about everyone else?

also, anyone have any tips on burping? e just doesn''t burp. well, if she does, it''s rare! we''ve tried the over the shoulder pat/rub and the sit her down and hold her jaw pat/rub on the back. she gets upset tummy and i think if we could just figure out a way to burp her, she''d feel so much better!

since i'm sitting here pumping for what feels like for-friggin-ever...

jcrow... re: burping. when you do the jaw/sit burp, does she kind of slump onto herself or do you try to pull her upright more? when we let J slump onto himself he will prob burp but it also folds himself onto his stomach and tends to exacerbate spitup and reflux and upset tummy. we have to help him sit upright more when we do the burp that way. also are you guys hitting her hard enough? i know it sounds funny but at first i was just not aggressive enough with the hitting to burp him...greg had to make me hit harder to get him to burp. when they are so tiny at first you are like REALLY???.... but it didn't seem to hurt him. also you can do a tummy kind of burp by flipping her over onto the palm of your hand and holding her head upright and patting her back. J will usually burp that way if by no other means. also in the first 6 weeks J loved to sleep on his tummy for naps in the boppy next to me and i think that helped his tummy. i would fill in the boppy center with a blanket then place him on it and his head would be on the boppy and his arm would like flop over the side. he would sleep really well in it...but around 6 weeks he was totally over it.

re: room at night... we moved him into his own room still in his bassinet at 3 weeks. we only did it because one night G had a late rehearsal and we didn't want J to wake up when G got home late, but it was the BEST thing we could have done. he was totally fine on his own that night, and we were ready to have our room back plus he's literally steps down the hall from us so we just left it like that and never went back. the crib move took longer, he just seemed so SMALL in the crib and he liked the bassinet coziness. we started him with naps in the crib for about 3-4 weeks then moved to one sleep in the bassinet and the next sleep in the crib. then we did all crib at about 8 weeks i think? while i am fine with how slowly we did the crib move, i think he prob would have been fine in it earlier. they seem pretty adaptable. he was in bassinet at my moms for the last 3 nights and slept fine, and last nite he was back home in crib and slept fine.

the only downer about the crib move for us is that since J is a mover and shaker crazy man he totally moves all over the crib so we had to take the bumper out sooner than i'd expected. last nite i got up at 4am to see him at the bottom corner of the crib totally 360'd. literally his head was in the corner of the crib. crazy man!

JCrow- We put O in his room at around 3 or 4 weeks. He was in a Moses basket. At first I "slept" in the guest room with the basket beside me, then the basket in the next room and then in his own room (2 rooms over) all with the monitor. Then I moved back downstairs to my bedroom once I felt comfortable.

As for burping, O was not a great burper either and really didn't do it that often. If Emily is EBF, she may not need to burp that much. At first I spent a lot of time trying to burp him but got over it as it didn't really bother him. But what worked best for us was to put him high up on my shoulder and stand up and bounce a bit. Sometimes it just takes awhile.

ETA: Move to crib we did late. Like around 4 months or so. He conked out in his Moses basket and plus he couldn't really move which gave me peace of mind since he's upstairs. He was rolling over early but he couldn't do it in his basket.
11.gif
Gave me more sleep that way. But once we moved him, we did it cold turkey and he had zero problem. He did nap in his crib much earlier.

mara - e is a mover too. we just started putting her in the arm''s reach and when it''s time to feed, i see she''s all the way in the corner and totally crooked. that''s a good idea about starting her with naps in her own crib. she''s only a little over 3 weeks, so i''m thinking we''ve got time. i thought you had j in his crib by 3 weeks and i thought, gee is that what we should be doing already? so, i thought i''d ask :] hum, i''ll see about sitting her upright more to burp. honestly, i rarely burp her that way because it just seems so uncomfy!

chinacat - yes, she''s EBF. i just think if she could burp more then maybe her tummy wouldn''t hurt her so much!

yeh, i''m pretty sure i''m not using enough umph to burp her. will work on that and see if we get better results!

Thanks Viz, China, and Mara
35.gif

It turns out it was just a weird fluke. The pedi told her to stop being a camel
3.gif
. They checked her urine and she had no signs of an infection and she wasn''t dehydrated. She actually urinated while the pedi took off her diaper lol. Luckily she had a urine bag so he didn''t get any on him. He did say that she needs to have a little more fluids because it''s so hot and humid here so we''re going to give her 4 oz of water with her afternoon meal and then let her sip on water throughout the day when she''s thirsty. She got her 9mo shots today and only cried for a second.

She''s 20.2lbs (50-75%) and 29.5in (75-95%).

Steph&Tao-The Evans are adorable! (lol)
Sabine-Jacks has so much hair!! Happy 9 months to him
36.gif
. For breakfast Sophia is getting the same as Jacks-oatmeal, fruit, and yogurt.
Blen-Hope the boobs start feeling better!
MP-OMG Micah is adorable
30.gif
30.gif
. I think he does look like a mix of the both of you
5.gif
. I bled for 5 weeks and spotted for another 2 weeks.
PG-Claire is beautiful and she''s getting so big! How did the baby food shopping go?
Mandy-How did the shots go?
Mara-I''m glad you guys had such a great trip
36.gif
I''m still jealous
27.gif

Ginger-I hope today goes by quickly and goes well for you
7.gif
. First day back is hard. Hugs.

Viz-I would try that solution that China gave (the nicer approach to CIO). I''m a fan of CIO even though we only use it occassionally but the decision is totally up to you and how you would feel. I also think that maybe it''s time to put him back in his crib so that if he does wake up and is moving around/grunting, you can still sleep through it. It may be that since he''s in bed with you, you notice/feel the movement a lot more than if he were in his own room. How many ounces is he getting again during the day? I hope the book works for you! If you do try CIO, I would do his normal bedtime routine and start it from the very beginning. If you do it once he''s crying/overtired/or you are frustrated, it may not work as well.

China-That dream made me LOL! Thanks
3.gif

Jcrow-We moved Sophia into her room when she was 2 months. We had to because she''s a really light sleeper and just adjusting our position in bed would wake her up. As for the burping, when I was doing it I would either put her chin on my hand and burp her sitting down or I would lay her across my nap on her tummy and rub her back.

Happy Monday all! We had a great weekend full of tball, eating out, shopping and relaxing....now I am back to the Spring cleaning grind. I''m cleaning and organizing every room, top to bottom so it''s a big job to balance with 2 kids! Anyway, hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

Kaleigh, thank you!

Amber, hope you and P are doing better. Yay for the jumperoo!

Sabine, cute pic!

Tao, LOL at the baby food pic...that is priceless! E sleeps a ton when he''s going through a growth spurt. I think that is just how some babies deal with it.

Blen, sorry about the bad doc experience.

MP, aww such a cute pic. Oh and my bleeding lasted about 4 weeks after my C.

Kim, glad she likes her playmat, E loves his too!

Hi, Sha!

PG, that pic is too cute!

Hi, Zoe!

Mandi, sorry they have to get shots again...no fun!

Mara, glad you had a great trip and haha on already planning another for the fall. We''re planning an alone trip to Vegas in Nov. for our anniversary, I''m so excited!

Ginger, thinking about you today.

Fiery, hope S is okay, I would worry about it too.

Viz, oh girl...I am feel so bad for you. He has another ear infection? Did your ped say it is time to explore tubes? I would be willing to bet money that that has something to do with him not wanted to lay down to sleep. I would wait to do CIO once he is over the ear infection. Also, what are his sleeping habits at daycare? Does he sleep in a swing or a crib? Could it be reflux (even silent?) and also how often is he sleeping there? Maybe it is too much and he is just not that tired at home? I don''t know, just thinking out loud.....I hope things get better for you both really quickly. Come here to vent all you want.

Hi, CC!

Jcrow, we moved E into his own crib between 3 and 4 weeks.

I have no smiley pictures to contribute to BPF since she was Ms. Attitude all weekend lol
20.gif
. We went to 2 bday parties and she was all smiles for FI and I but when someone would come near her, she''d give them a weird look. BUT I converted all of her 3-6mo dresses that she couldn''t wear when it finally fit because of the weather into summer tops! I''m really excited about this lololol!!

JCrow We moved the boys to their nursery at 4 weeks. It made such a huge difference. Everyone started sleeping better!. We started doing naps in their nursery at around 3 months (I think)!. Re burping...I STILL have to burp these guys. They do burp themselves...but sometimes need help, plus that way they spit up less (they still spit up!). With my guys though not burping wasn't an option...they would spit up a LOT or get really uncomfortable otherwise....and it would take forever!. My only tip is that sometimes I would burp one way, then another way. If nothing then I would lay the down in their boppy (while I did the other baby) and then burp the first baby again. Sometimes they just needed to be still for a while and then the burp would come out!.

Fiery Yay for being a fluke!!!!!

Mara I received the breatable bumpers I oredered and they don't look bad at all! And it helps with the crazy limbs out of the crib!

Sounds like you guys had a great trip!!!

Viz Woman, I just don't know how you do it!. I think (what I would do anyway) is to attempt a bit of CIO for the first bedtime and maybe for naps)...so at that first 7:45pm thing. I would continue doing what you're doing for the rest of the night, but work on that first part. That should help teach him some self-soothing and at that point you know is not hunger or anything else. I would also have a time limit, that helped me anyway. Once he has that down, then I would start waiting 15 minutes or so for middle of the night stuff (unless you think he's hungry).....so after the 11pm bottle, then maybe try to put him down and see if he can put himself back to sleep without your help.

I know CIO is hard...but what I can tell you is that I thought it would be MUCH harder than what it was. I think the trick is to do things slowly. Not all or nothing kind of thing but tackle one thing at a time. Not sure if I'm making much sense!.

Sometimes when I put my guys down for a nap and they fuss, I wait like 15 minutes, THEN I go in and pat them. Sometimes it makes them more upset, sometimes they fall sleep as soon as I lay one hand on them...but what I do know is that waiting before going in is always better than me trying to put them to sleep from the get go.

Ginger sorry

We're back from the pedi. I hate it when they take forever. Not to self: Never make an appointment for Monday morning ever again!!! Not sure what I was thinking. The office was a zoo!

They are in 25% for weight...and 75th and 90th for height!!!...and they still got tiny heads (5th percentile..hehe). They don't look like they have tiny heads, but hopefully they catch up at some point! haha.

They took the shots like champs, but they ALWAYS do. It's the three weeks after the shots that absolutely SUCK. So I'm warning you that I may eitehr not post much, or come posting very tired and grumpy!. Hopefully not, but that has been the case the last two times

Sophia is just precious!

Steph I so need to do a spring cleaning. My closet is a DISASTER. Dare I say all my maternity clothes are still in there (6.5 months after the fact). Stuff from the HOSPITAL is still in some bags in there...and I can barely walk in there?. It's a huge mess. I went to a friend's house the other day and she was showing me around. I nearly died when I took a peek at her SUPER organized closet. I'm so jealous!. My pantry is another hot mess....and don't even get me started on my office/storage room. So good for you! Got any tips to get me started?

MP, I had a c/s and had pp bleeding for 8 or 9 weeks. I''m not sure because it may have stopped and then been my first pp AF, but I definitely still had it at my 6 week check up and the dr. said that was normal.

Kim, how was your night alone with Jane? And did I ever tell you I LOVE the name Jane? It would have been one of my top picks for a girl, but dh wasn''t a fan.

PG, glad you got some birthday fun in! Oh, and Jacks hated the plain pureed meats (and they smelled nasty) but he loves the ones with meat and something else. Beechnut chicken with apples is his favorite, he also likes vegetable beef and ham, pineapple and rice.

Drk, how are things going with you?

Tao, if he keeps it up, I would maybe just call the pedi to see what they say. But Jacks has never been one to sleep extra for things like teething, so I don''t know.

Mara, glad the trip went well...so jealous! Hope the pumping gets back to normal soon!

Ginger, hope your first day back is going well!

Fiery, glad it was just a fluke! Sophia is a lb heavier and an inch taller than Jacks!

Viz, I hope things get better soon. If you do decide to CIO but still want to feed him, I would do it at the beginning of the night, and then any time he wakes up that is less than x hours, and I would make x the amount of time he goes between feedings during the day. You KNOW he can go that long without eating since he does during the day, so that could help reinforce that he''s not crying from hunger.

Jcrow, I''m probably not much help. We put Jacks in his crib from night #2 on because we didn''t want to both have to get up when one of us would get up with him. Then we coslept from months 2-4, and he''s been back in his crib ever since.

Steph, yay for spring cleaning!

Mandy, we must have had our appoints at the same time, just got back from Jacks''s 9 month one!

Jackson is 19lb 2 oz. and 28.5 inches. He''s falling off a bit on the weight curve, but the pedi said that''s normal once they get mobile. I''m annoyed that the pedi. had no insight as to his allergic reaction a week or so ago...she said it may have been to some random additive or dye because he''s had stuff with raspberry puree in it with no problem. I still wonder if the raspberry puree is so cooked/processed that it no longer has allergens in it, whereas the sherbet he reacted to had fresh raspberries. She said that''s possible and to just not give him any fresh berries, but I''m still going to be paranoid about anything with raspberry flavoring, etc. in it. She said there''s not much we can do now, but to get him a blood allergy test at a year (we''ll move before then so we''ll have a new dr).

I also forgot to ask her about the transition to milk. I might need to ask over on 12-24 about that though...I just feel so lost as to how to do it!
