So, like most of you...I am here patiently waiting. I met my FF back in high school, we had some rough patches as were attempting to identify ourselves and keep up with a relationship. I am now 24, and my FF will be early 2009. We have had the talk and we both have agreed that we want to get married. I have looked at rings (mostly online), and I have caught him doing some browsing as well (websites in the URL box..haha). We have just a few set backs in the process, I''m a little hesitant, as I dont know too many 25 year old men who are ready to get married. Also, we live in a very expensive area, and feel that more money would be needed for both us to live "comfortably". Lastly, my parents dont want me to have a long engagement (max 1 year for planning purposes). So once that ring is on, we know we have one year to get hitched. I feel like I have known him for sooo long, and so many of my friends are getting married, having babies, and planning their life. I want to get mine started too! But as most of you know patience is a virtue, and Im assuming the best thing to do is wait. UGHHH!

welcome to PS!!

you should post in the LIW list that you want to be added because the list keeper may not have seen this!!

it''s definitely smart to think about your financial situation before you get married, but i think you should allow yourself to flirt with the notion of a longer engagement regardless of what your mother thinks. it''s your life, you should do what makes you happy!!

Thanks for the advice! I guess I could think about a longer engagement...I guess im a little scared of "fighting" with my parents. Since im new to PS...do you know of any couples who are both under 25 and getting married. I would love to talk to them to get some advice...

welcome! while i am not under 25 planning a wedding, my best friend and her husband too were highschool sweethearts and got married at 22.
They definately set the trail for the rest of us!

I think you need to make sure your parents understand that a long engagment isnt totally a bad thing. hell, i want to get engaged today (heehee!) but i know money wise i could not get married before dec 09 (i want a may wedding. Same with the children thing - do you want to have kids that early, or your parents?

I hope you enjoy your stay here! And congrats on looking at rings!! :)
