i am considering having my bm wear qi-paos. i know the bride traditionally wears it during the reception, but is this limited to the bride only?

What''s a qi pao? One of those chinese dresses? My g/f is having her bridesmaids wear the chinese dresses. She''ll just be in a different color (and much shinier) during the reception.

Yes, qi pao''s are the chinese dresses. I believe traditionally the bride wears a red one, so I guess as long as your BMs don''t wear a red one you''re ok. But IMO it''s your wedding, so the BMs can wear whatever you want them to!

hm... I was thinking of doing this too... not sure about the etiquette though! I figure, as long as they''re not wearing red, it''s gotta be okay!

Well, my fiancee''s bm''s are gonna be wearing white ones w/ various shades of purples accenting the patterns. I know white is supposed to be a no-no for both American culture (supposed to be the bride''s color) and the Asian one (signifies death). We''re doing it anyways.
