Hi,
My fiance recently received my engagement ring from the jeweler. It took over 7 weeks to finally get it but I was so happy when i did, it is beautiful. I have a few concerns 1) Is that I had the ring on for less then 6hrs doing regular household tasks, and noticed that the ring had scratches, and not tiny ones, they almost look like scrapes and feel extremely rough. 2) its engraved (not stamped) with PT900 and my fiance asked about this because we thought it was going to be PT950 and jeweler said it is better because PT900 is stronger (which makes me wonder even more about the scratches). We paid a considerable amount for my ring and I looked on our receipt and it clearly states its PT950. I wanted to go back to the jeweler and have them remake it in PT950 but my worry is that since its engraved with PT900 cant he just re-engrave it with the PT950 and is there any way I would know the difference? Also is it common for platinum to scratch and nick so easily? I just want to make sure that we are not getting taken for a ride! Is it worth it to have it remade in the 950? Is it more valuable then the 900?
