Question on basket setting sizing?

I hope there are bench jewelers on PS who can help me. If I wanted to set a 7.75mm rb into a basket setting, and existing Stuller baskets only come in sizes for 7.5mm or 8mm, should I order the 7.5mm or the 8mm basket setting?

I had a 7.1X stone put into a 7.5 mm basket and <to me> it seems like it was too big. Like I would have thought it would Vee out more (like the shape of the diamond)

So, personally, I’d go down. Otherwise, ask the bench who will set it what they recommend?

Here are a couple more. Hopefully you can see what I mean. I had hoped it would be a more obvious \/ shape than a |_| shape. But regardless, I do love it anyway. And, the basket and the shank were both from Stuller.
