Questions about Amethyst

I acquired this Quite a while back and I don’t know much about it. I was hoping I could get some insight??

I’m a novice, and don’t know anything about gems. I just always loved this and wanted to know if it’s of any value

thats not a amethyst, its a fluorite.

Thanks! Like I said I don’t know much. I just assumed it was Amethyst by the color

Amethyst is harder than fluorite. You can scratch fluorite with a knife, but not amethyst. You can scratch glass with amethyst, but not fluorite.

Yup, that's fluorite. It's a lovely specimen, but not an expensive stone.
