Questions about tension settings

How secure are standard (straight) tension settings? How about the slanted or "helix" tension settings? Anyone know if tension settings are available in other metals besides titanium? Newbie needs help!

Gelin & Abaci makes something like that in platinum and gold...

The straight tensions are stronger - that helix does reduce the tension in theory, but if that is an issue I could not tell.

IMO, Ti is safer than the traditional jewelry metals for tension settings, because the crucial resilience is a natural quality of the metal as oposed to something induced by special treatment (which, as any technology, might fail).
