Hey all!

I am thinking of having Jeff White cut me a new center stone for my three-stone ring using yellow beryl. I love the look of yellow with icy-white diamonds, and the price is great for such a lovely looking gem IMO.

This is a RHR, and so will not see heavy wear, though I plan to wear it most day. I would take it off for any work with my hands (other than typing

).

Can anyone speak to the wearability of yellow beryl?

Thanks!

A yellow beryl will be much the same as any other beryl which includes aqua and morganite with a MOH of 7.5 to 8. It''ll be all right as a RHR that is worn very gently and carefully. You will see some facet wear over time but that''s to be expected with a "softer" stone.

Thanks Chrono, that''s good to know.

I agree it should wear well as a RHR. Yellow beryl stones are gorgeous.

I agree, yellow beryl is beautiful. Here is an example that Jeff cut, the rough I am considering having him cut is from the same parcel.

I am thinking of having it cut with an emerald shape, to match my side diamonds, but with a chunky faceted pavilion.

Is it my imagination, or is that warmer than yellow diamonds? It''s gorgeous.

Gorgeous!

I agree, the color and cut are amazing. I am getting excited. He is taking pictures of some of the rough so I can decide on the color I want... I know rough isn''t the same, but I really am curious to see the color variations he has. But really, I would love something to look EXACTLY like that one in the picture.

FYI, this yellow beryl is only about $100 per carat, which is so reasonable! I think I may be addicted if I can get beautiful works of colorful art for such a reasonable price. I''ll start my collection with the less costly gems and work my way up...

Thanks for posting the picture - that stone is gorgeous.
