Hi Mara,
Love reading your posts!
I am interested in an prong set eternity setting for my e-ring but FI doesn''t like the bumpiness he sees on the sides of them. I understand you had your band thinned somehow. Did that affect the bumpiness? Yours look flat. Are you aware of a style that''s flat on the sides but is a shared prong on top? Also if I want a custom band where do I get melee from? Is it worth it for ACA melee? How much extra is that. I''m think 2 point stones.

Thanks for being such a font of info. Your new stone is georgeous!

Sparkling, I think part of the reason Mara''s ring looks so "flat", as you say, is because hers is not a shared-prong ring. Hers is 4-prong set.

I had my wedding ring made with ACA melee from Whiteflash, a size 5.5 ring with 3 point stones. They used 25 stones in a 4 prong setting (identical to Mara''s). Email them for a quote. Price is based on the amount of st ones and metal they need to use.

Hi Sparkling - Has your guy seen the prong set eternity bands in person, or just blown up in HUGE pictures on the computer monitor? That bumpy pattern really isn''t noticable in person in my experience. The ring just kind of blends a lot more than it seems to when it''s magnified so much.

Another example, I thought I HATED channel set eternity rings, because of "all that metal showing", or because they looked heavy or clunky in pictures. Well, I finally saw some in person and tried them on - I didn''t even notice that it was channel set at first, because all I saw was sparkle. Then I looked at it close up, and realized that it was your standard channel set eternity ring, but it just looked so much more delicate in person. Wasn''t the same at all.

Just my .02!
