Ragdoll "parents" -- this thread''s for you! Brag and post photos here!

Omieluv - I think he definitely deserves the benefit of the doubt, seeing as he's an adorable, giant ball of gorgeous fluffiness

ooooooh the tummy fur! Boo is SO adorable! I remember when Chen looked like that--perfect little ball of fluff!

RE: funny things they do for attention. Chen''s funniest thing has to be the crawling under the covers with us. Usually we don''t notice/it''s just funny--but occasionally he gets down there right in the middle and we''re terrified we''re roll over on him!

Most memorable--lying in bed, almost asleep. Hear a impressively high-pitched yelp from FI and Chen is uncerimoniously tumped to the floor. I say, "What happened?" "Well, he just *dove* right under the covers...and I wasn''t quite sure what he was going for...and....err....well, he has sharp claws! Stop laughing!!"

Close second is the time we left some cinnamon raisin bread on the counter and the darn cat nibbled the crust on one end off! He was sick for DAYS. What kind of self respecting cat eats BREAD?

Oliver (Ollie) is a seal-point bicolor Ragdoll (presumptive).
Don''t forget AG, he''s also "mitted"!

And oh, I LOVE those mittens!!!

His story is sooooo heartwarming. Do you know who the wonderful person is who saved his sweet life? Wouldn''t it be nice if she could know how happy he is and what a wonderful home he has?

Godiva doesn''t look much like a Coon to me. I owned one once and his body shape was a little different, little more tabby, etc. Solid M. Coons are quite rare I think. Pretty kitty no matter what, though!

You asked for it!!! Leo is a red mitted male Ragdoll. My family members will all agree that I am obsessed and in love with this cat! He is the biggest love! DH says my love is ranked like this: Leo, the kids, diamonds, furniture, somewhere down the list is him. Poor baby, huh? I''m having issues with all of the computers in the house (one shot a flame out of the back last week - very exciting) so let''s see if I can post some pics!

WHERE ARE THOSE PICTURES??! We are dying over here!!! Must. Post. Many. Photos. of. Leo. PLEEEZE!

Lynn - I thought the bicolor implied mitted (i.e. a Ragdoll can be just mitted, like just the white paws, or it can be bicolor, which means some amount of inverted white V on the face and some white on the body, plus the mitts)? I read up on all of the cat color genetics, but its pretty confusing so I may be getting that wrong...

Miranda - I completely agree about the pictures of Leo!! We must have them!!

RT - that is such a funny story about Chen. Amber is the only one of our kitties who likes to sleep under the covers with us, but we''ve definitely had a few...ahem..."clawing" incidents too...

Hmmmm... it can get confusing, for sure. I think *most* bicolor Raggies are mitted, but not all. I do know that Boo is not considered mitted.

BTW, have you ever seen the LYNX Ragdolls?! Ohmyword... heaven in a cat suit. SO gorgeous!

Aww, thanks for letting my Godiva be an adopted Ragdoll! I like the truffle description because it is so true. Here is a picture of him upside down which really shows off his coloring. I love the new pictures! Such gorgeous cats everyone has. I especially love the tufted feeties. There''s just something about feet like that.

I''m sorry! I''m a naughty evil tease! I''ll try again tonight!!! This thread is the best! When the boys are home from school and DH is out of town (my live in tech support) I get crazy busy! I can at least link my thread... https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/new-baby-of-the-feline-variety.54656/ Leo was little here. He''s so much bigger now!

OMG - I LOVE the new Godiva pictures...even cuter than the last batch, if that''s possible.

OK, so to tide us over until Ms. Miranda has pictures of Leo to share (SUCH a handsome boy!!!

), I''ve got one last batch of Ollie pics to share - the most recent set. Here he is with his surprised expression:

Olliesurprisedsitting1.jpg

And here''s a picture of our entire cat family. This picture was taken about 2 months ago, so he''s grown even more since then, but you can really see how big he''s gotten in comparison to the two girl cats. From left to right, that''s Amber, Gretchen, and of course, Oliver...

catfamilyonbench.jpg

Let''s have a closeup of that sleepy fluffy cuteness, shall we?

I love this picture because it captures his crazy, slightly scary look he gets sometimes when he wants to play (all feet and other moving body parts buried under covers better watch out when that happens!!)

another darling fluffy shot...

And even though he''s turning into a big grown up boy, he still enjoys helping his daddy study

OK, that''s all for now. I''m hoping to take some new pics soon - I need to take pics of my new WF ACA studs too, so hopefully a nice long sunny photo session is in my near future

OHMYGOSH, AG! I LOVE that one photo of all 3 furbabies lined up sleeping on their pillows!!! How CUTE!!! Do they always sleep on the *same* pillow, or do they move around? I think that is my favorite picture EVER!!!!
30.gif
30.gif

ETA: He's gonna need a bigger pillow soon, Mom!!! Maybe even a second pillow just for... The Tail!!!
2.gif

Lynn - they don''t always sleep on the same pillows, they definitely move around, although each cat has a preference towards one or the other end of the bench - Amber is usually on the end you see her there, while Oliver and Gretchen tend to prefer the other end. Sadly, they''ll be losing that perch soon as we''re moving that bench and turning it vertically to serve as a bookshelf rather than a bench.

I do think he has outgrown the cushions since that picture was taken - now either a leg or The Tail has to be off the pillow or he doesn''t fit. Perhaps that''s why he''s taken to lounging on the floor instead....

I agree with you on the Lynx-point babies - SO GORGEOUS

We actually have one (although a Siamese not a Ragdoll, but still) at the shelter where I volunteer right now - he''s such a gorgeous boy in person (not a great picture but the only one I have):

Do you think he'll get one, AG?

I don't think I could work at a shelter... I think I'd be depressed, plus I'd want to bring every single one HOME. And obviously that's just not possible. You are so wonderful to work there... I admire what you do there sooooooo much. I wish I could do it, but I honestly don't think my heart could take it. Social work by day AND NIGHT?! That'd be just too, tooooo much!

Lynn - not to worry, I''m sure he''ll find a home. Its a bit slower for the adult cats right now because its the peak of kitten season and the little ones go first, but its a very high-end, no-kill shelter - the only animals that get put down are the ones with behavioral or health issues so serious they can''t be dealt with and its kinder for the animal. I don''t think I could volunteer at a shelter with high kill rates (and there are lots) - I''m really lucky to live in a city where we can pretty much find homes for every adoptable animals, and for many that come from outside our city as well. The shelter where I work is really nice - the cats all have kitty condos - spacious rooms with cat trees, plenty of toys, places to lounge in the sunshine or hide if they don''t want to be seen, and often TVs so they can watch videos of birds. Its pretty posh. The dogs also have nice big rooms, open to the sunlight, and both types of animals get visits from volunteers every day, often several times a day - the dogs go on training walks and to playgroups, and the cats get playtime from cat volunteer visitors. Its actually a very uplifting experience volunteering there - there are A LOT more happy endings than sad ones. Otherwise, I''m not sure I could do it either.

WOW, AG, that''s AWESOME!!!

That shelter sounds so wonderful! I am so happy that places like that exist. Wow, I never knew! I think I could work there, after all!

Just out of curiosity, what is the average census at your shelter? And how is it funded? Thanks!

I took a bunch of photos of "the boys" today... there are some adorable ones, but I only have time right now to post one. But this one of Boo made me literally LOL. Doesn''t it SO LOOK like a MUG SHOT?!!!

Oh Lynne, I love that shot!! The look on Boo''s face is priceless!

OMG Lynn - that picture is TOO FUNNY!! Oliver makes the EXACT SAME FACE...its that "I''m going to kill you in your sleep tonight if you don''t stop doing that soon" look. It totally made me LOL too - thanks for sharing!

This is the shelter where I volunteer - the San Francisco SPCA. I linked the "about us" page which has lots of information on their intake numbers, population, etc... They aren''t a huge operation - about 3,000-4,000 adoptions a year, but they are unique in a lot of ways. They are on the cutting edge in terms of behavioral training, and were among the first places to offer low-cost spay/neuter programs in this country. They have a special agreement with San Francisco Animal Care and Control to get every adoptable animal brought in into a home. They also have a variety of other wonderful programs - training classes offered to the public, free vet care for pets of homeless people, a program that trains dogs as "hearing dogs" (like seeing eye dogs but for people who are deaf or hearing-impaired), the list goes on...its really a neat place, and I''ve learned such a lot volunteering there - I feel really lucky to have the opportunity.

AG the pic of them all asleep on their pillows is HILARIOUS. Oliver''s tail seriously looks like my dust remover thingy from Ikea. LOL! Huge!

LOVE all the pics! Keep them coming!

I''m in kitty heaven right now after reading this thread, hee hee.

i think about a year ago I posted a thread about the ragdoll breed...so i''ve wanted one for a while now. Unfortunately we have a very small house and two dogs and there is no place to put a litter box where the dogs would not be able to get to it (you know how dogs like to eat treats they find in the litterbox
7.gif
). DH and I were talking again about getting a kitty the other day and he said the next house we buy we''ll make sure to have a private space for a kitty box, then he was talking about how he wanted to make sure we got a boy kitty because he feels they are more affectionate. I mentioned again (his memories of me talking about the ragdoll breed a few years ago are dim, of course) how ragdolls can be somewhat more affectionate than the average DSH and he said how much? LOL! I told him the ones I''d previously looked at were around x amount of dollars around here and he sort of balked at spending that much on a cat. So we''ll see, but I''d say a RD is in our future, and as much as I would love it, chances are it would probably become his cat anyway, hee hee. That''s alright with me, though, I would just love having a cat around again, and I think the dogs would too as well as DH.
9.gif
Until then I will live vicariously through all the RD owners on PS!
