We are empty nesters so our boys, both rescues, Ranger (yellow) and Woogie (black) are our children at the moment. Florida beaches are wonderful in the winter and the boys love to go with us on beach days.

This is Minxy...sister to Lady J, the cat in my avatar. We found out today she has cancer. She isn't eating, and we are trying steroids to try and shrink the mass and get her eating again. She has been lying on the kitchen floor all day...we have picked her up and taken her to her fav chair and her spot on the bed but she keeps wanting to lay on the floor, which she never did before. Husband and I are in shock...I think we will be losing her very soon. She has always been a very high strung cat, kind of goofy, but now she is so calm...I am rambling so I will just shut up now...thanks for giving me a place to rant...
 
I need some well wishes sent our way too
Borris hasn't been seen all day
its very out of character
Its now 10.42 pm and we havn't seen her since we last saw her still in bed this morning
she does spent time over the back fence, i don't know where she goes but she comes home at dinner time
i don't think she even had breakfast before she went out this morning

Borris is home
very weird
She's been hiding in the spare room all day - i looked in there like 5 times plus i changed the litter in the dirt box - that she has at some stage used
Gary found her sitting on the bathroom vanity when he got up for his old man piddle
We have paper thin walls - she must have heard me calling her like 1000 times today
We had the hall door open most of the day - she wasn't locked in - that bedroom door has no lock or knob or anything on that door, we do keep a water bowl in the hall
Very odd
but im so releaved
I think Gary is too

Anyway she's had her dinner

I’m so sorry for what you are going through with Minxy. I will keep her in our prayers. I know how hard it is to see them suffer.

I’m so sorry to hear about Minxy. I lost a beloved cat to cancer two years ago and that was really difficult to go through. She also lost her appetite and the only thing I could get her to eat was a spoon or two of Gerber baby food a few times a day. I know it’s not nutritionally complete, but sometimes it just comes down to getting calories in her.

I hope the steroids help.
 
Oh no. I'm so sorry @MjK1 :(sad I know exactly how heartbreaking that news is. I hope the steroids help quickly!! The not eating, that's the worst. If she'll keep anything down these pastes are great to just get some calories in - they have a version that's low protein for cats with kidney issues too, if that's an issue here.

Can I ask what type of cancer she's been diagnosed with, and what treatment options you've been given? Don't feel any obligation to answer.

I'll be thinking of you and Minxy and Lady J :(sad Please don't lose hope just yet!! Modern medicine can work miracles, even when everyone, including the specialists, are expecting the worst ❤️

I am so so sorry @MjK1 :(

Many of us understand and we are here if we can do anything and we are here just to listen too. And offer comfort and support and gentle hugs. If you want to share more details about her type of cancer and her prognosis we can share thoughts but only if you want to. Otherwise we are here to listen and help in any way we can.

We lost our beloved Francesca 24 months ago and I am still in deep grief over losing her. My heart still hurts so much and I feel a piece of me is gone. She was and will always be my daughter. She had an aggressive type of cancer and we did chemo but in less than 2 weeks from her diagnosis she was gone.

I share this just to let you know I understand and you are not alone. I wish I had words of wisdom to share with you. I am so very sorry. {{{{Hugs}}}}.

I am so very sorry, @MjK1. Please know that many warm thoughts of comfort are surrounding you, and try to remember that you gave Minxy so much love and so many happy days. But I know it is so hard, so feel free to vent as much as you need to. I am thinking of you and hoping that peace will soon overtake the heartache. (((Hugs)))
 
Thanks everyone, y'all are so nice...it gives me comfort. I am playing on this forum to distract myself...but all the time there is a nagging pain inside. I know it will get easier. Everyone here is very sweet. <3
