This is one of the sites I like to go to when comparing prices of various stone. When I brought up spinel ( often my first stop ) These beautys popped up. http://www.multicolour.com/gallery/?/gallery/spinel/ It looks as if they have recently aquired quite a few additions in the red spinel catagory. I only wish thier pictures were a little more realistic looking. The thing I do like is the way they give you a gia type color grade for thier stones. Having bought from this vendor before I can say thier grades are accurate imo.

Lovely spinels. I''ve never bought from overseas before; what happens with customs and do we have to pay to import gems in to the U.S.?

When ever I have orderd something from them I have never had to pay anything other than the price of the stone and shipping.

Those are some really nice looking spinels Wish I had some extra money sitting around or I could hit the lotto. LOL

if only i had an extra $35K there is an over 8 carat spinel there that would be mine!

movie zombie

multicolour.com is one of my favourite websites for browsing, though I have never purchased from them. They do have some lovely spinels!

Multicolor does seem to have very good pricing compared to some sites I visit. I'm with you MZ. Not that I have an extra 35K sitting around. LOL I just blew my modest gem budget on a 3ct emerald cut red spinel. This came from a very recent gem show in N.C. I am waiting for an overcast day to take pics for posting.

Oh by the way, nice to see you posting again.

decent prices on mostly lower end stones but that website is the worst gemstone website I have ever visited to find something on!!!
They should hang who ever designed it!!!

Storm ,perhaps you could enlighten us as to why you have such a strong negiative opinion of multicolor.

They seem to meet your criteria as I rember you posted in another thread kewl & iniexpensive.

website design is the only thing I have against them.
Among other things I''m a website designer and the design of their site is bad.
It is annoying too use.

I don't know much about the design aspect. Multicolor seems to have the proper tools to cut through the huge # of stones listed.

Like most places they look to have stones in a wide range of price points. While I have not gone through thier whole list I think using terms such as "mostly lower end stones" does a disservice to those trying to find a nice stone at realistic prices. Unlike some web sites that are WAY overpriced!!

Or worse sites that won't even show you thier prices and leave you to the mercy of a jeweler who may or may not over charge you.

CMW -- Thanks for the info on Multicolor. We need to hear from people who''ve bought from these sites before. It''s how I decide what sites to put in my Favorites.

Storm -- Yes the site could use some improvements.

What gem show did you go to in NC? I''d love to know if there are some worth going to!

You are welcome Stone hunter.
Diamondseeker the show was in Spruce pine N.C. While I am sure it can''t compare to the really big shows out west I was impressed. If nothing else these shows are a good place to compare stones and start to get a handle on quality.

Your reading way too much into what I said.
Id say that about them the same way id say that The Natural Sapphire Company carries mostly mid too high end stones and AJS has a wide selection in many quality levels.

You said multicolor carrys" mostly lower" end quality. With this I can not disagree more strongly. They stock a wide selection of quality the only difference is the profit margin. imo

There''s a show coming up in Raleigh at the Fairgrounds Aug 31 -Sep 2 at eh Scott Kerr Building, it''s a good time. I always go and end up coming home with goodies.

Where do I look to find out about shows near me? Is there a web site for this?

I typed gem and mineral show in internet exploer and this poped up.

I am pretty sure there are others but this looks like a good start. To narrow your search try adding your state to the end.

Thanks. I missed a few close ones but there are couple coming up that I might be able to travel to.

Thanks so much for the references to the gem shows!
