This is a spinel and diamond I just recieved back from the jeweler. What does every one think? The spinel is 2.77ct with .71cts of diamonds.

Wow! More pics please! I''ve fallen in love with spinels. Great ring!!!

My red spinels are with my jeweller: one is in the process of becoming a ring and the other will become a pendant later. I''ll share when they are finished.

I''m with you Camellia. I think it is hard to beat a fine red spinel

These were all taken in direct sun light. The sky was very blue today.

Just beautiful, CMW! It looks like a gorgeous stone, and I think the side traps look great with it. They''re step cut, aren''t they? Where did you get the spinel?

Who is asian collectables? Website?

Thank you all. Asain collectables is a show on t.v. it is on sat. morning at 4:00 am e.s.t. I think it is called gemshopping channel. It would come on espn2 after midnight but another gem show has replaced it now. They have very high quality stuff. I can get it on the computer but with my connection speed it looks really crappy. They have a 10 day return policy. Doug When I say high quality I mean asian collectables not the other one.

That is just Delicious!
It instantly made me think of tart cherries.
: )

Scintillating...

I'm so glad to learn of someone else who watches that show once in a while. (I'm a little embarrassed to admit it!

I think a lot of their gemstones are way overpriced...but not the "Asian Collectibles" show. I bought a color change sapphire from him some time ago.

Every other weekend there's an estate jewelry vendor that sometimes has neat stuff.

CMW: Did you notice that Ben Koh is back?

(He's a gem cutter/jeweler known for cutting rhodochrosite, who's gems can also be found at ACStones.com)

Such a handsome setting fit for such a good-looking stone.

I some times look at the other shows but like you said they are way over priced still nice to look at stuff I could not see any other way. Yes I did take notice of Ben Koh return. Some of those stones on the really high priced shows have some really fantastic cutting. I love those portuguese rounds they are amazing.

Thank you C.K.

Very nice. Congrats on a good deal too. I agree GSN prices appear to be high for the most part IMO, but I guess I should check out the Asian Collectibles segment.

Thanks to all for the nice comments. I liked the first red spinel so much when I recieved it that the next weekend I bought another. They are very close in hue the smaller stone is just a little lighter in tone. The gemologist I took it to said they are the same saturation though. Oh yeah asian collectables will consider offers. All the stones were bought below asking price. I bought a 15ct. red spessartite heart shape that was some what lighter in tone than most of the orangyred I have seen. When I took it to "my" gemologist he thought it wasn't such a good deal so I sent it back. I must admit that I am still kicking my self for that. It taught me a valuable lesson about what my own eyes tell me. I pretty much just rely on the gemologist to I.D. the stone is what it is repsented as. I wish I still had that spessartite!!!!!! Doug The larger stone is in the ring posted in this thread.
