I am not sure if this has been done before but I was wondering if posters could post their beautiful red stone jewelry.

While I know rubies and red spinels are some of the more popular red gemstones due to their bright hues, I am particularly interested in the deeper reds like garnet, zircon..really anything deeper red/purple/wine/raspberry.

I do not have one to show myself yet but I am excited to see as many examples as possible.

A quick search found this one on You Tube - I think it is quite pretty.

The red garnets look beautiful under sunlight. But they are brown under fluorescent light.

I have a red pink orange mehenge and a red purple umbalite garnet! Not sure if they totally applies but here they are. I’m planning to replace them with a reddish pink spinel though. Attaching that too :twisted2:

Your spinel is so pretty. Does it show some orange hue? Where is the origin?

I don’t have that round spinel yet but I know it’s from mehenge. I have asked someone to cut that rough for me and it should come out like this round one. Looking forward to it.

Nice cut.. Good colour.

Beautiful!
Fun thread. Here are my "red" gems.
Ruby necklace and drop earrings.

And my favorite ruby earrings.

And lastly, I am not sure if this qualifies for red but it is in the red family. My rhodolite (and amethyst) earrings. I love these and they are so light and versatile.

One more addition...not mine but a ring I tried on at DBL when LLJsmom was visiting me. It was very pretty!

OK one more red photo. It was another PSer visiting me and we were at my favorite estate jewelers and she tried on this beautiful ruby ring. All these jewels are much more vibrant and beautiful in person fyi.

OK that's my contribution to the red thread. Hoping more PSers will chime in...this is one case where seeing red is a good thing.

These are all so pretty!! Thank you for posting.

pwsg07,

This has been my concern too in chasing for the right garnet. I find the hunt excruciatingly difficult - when you also try to get a stone of almost precise dimensions. Never thought it would be SO difficult.

But yes...the possibility that they can turn brown, flat or "blah" in any way in the wrong lighting kind of concerns me.
Are there ANY garnets that don't do that? Perhaps the lighter, brighter ones?

Then again, I think a great cut can solve many color-related shortcomings.

I found this video on you tube (random search) and that deep-red/wine garnet in the middle does look a bit wine-brown...and the other one is downright brown; but the cut is so nice that it sparkles its head off, even with that wine-brown color.

Then again, many people do prefer deeper, dimmer colors (I only wear these in clothing) as most of the bright, vivid ones look rather garish with my skin tone.
This is why I was never interested in a ruby or spinel. They can be too yelly and bright for me.

Then again, in the world of gems, vivid and bright is where it's at.

So I hope I can find a sweet spot with just the right garnet....but as of now, I am nowhere close.

I only have one red piece of jewelry, and it is my ruby ring. It is small, but the color packs a lot of punch, I think. 4D82944A-6365-4AF3-B76D-8B460507809A.jpegB283AABA-7890-41B7-B12A-5A3DFE779E28.jpeg8F41796C-E49A-4240-8A72-ABD364FB202A.jpeg

Oh, goodness - how many beauties!
Burmesedaze, you must really loved reds, they are all so pretty! I love the color of the first ring on the 3rd row.

Suzanee 2 - that red really packs an amazing punch! It would probably clash with everything I wear but there are so many people who can pull of that gorgeous, unapologetic red!

Love them all.

Are the cabochon earrings star rubies?

They were sold to me as untreated/unheated Mogok ruby cabochon earrings, old stock. But now that I see, one of the tiny ones is actually a star ruby :)

Thank you :) I started out not liking reds, actually. But when you are based in Burma, it's really jade, spinels and corundums to collect!

Did someone say red?

I've got several. The round loose stone is a 3 carat or so rhodolite, the oval is another rhodolite I want to set. I also have six ovals loose. The cross, ring and earrings are all rubies and diamonds. The ring is set with a square rhodolite surrounded by rubies a diamonds. I love red!

Gemobssessed,

May I ask you who cut the pink tourmaline? It's dreamy!

Stracci.

Waow - that is quite a red collection. LOVE the 4th at the bottom on the middle finger, in gold.

Cats_sapphire,

That wine color is my IDEAL color...even if it risks turning darker in some lights. Do you experience that at all?

I think there are more than one star rubies.:love:

That looks so good @stracci2000

I didn't think red and RG would look so good together! Beautiful blend!

@stracci2000 - what a balanced combination! I really like RG with a ruby, and it looks beautiful on your hand!

I don't have too many reds anymore, this is just what I have left.

left image are spinels. one from vietnam (its a strawberry red) and the other is a silky mahenge. Right image is a tourmaline not a rubellite (had one, sold it) bottom is a ruby cab. Last image is black light image. yes they're all pink/pinkish reds I do have solid pinks/pink purples though which I have not added here.
