Rehearsal Dinner Venue Fell Through

So my planner called me yesterday to let me know that the place I picked was scooped up by someone else even though we''d been ''penciled'' in for the date. Totally frustrating! She was really upset since she had told them we wanted the date and a written proposal on how we could do the meet and greet on the patio afterwards. Now the only times available are mid-afternoon for eating and early evening for meet and greet. All way too early for the schedule we were planning on and the fact that folks will be flying in somewhat late that day and we''d be kicked out of the venue by 7pm instead of 9pm. Also the room we wanted which was nicer is gone period so we''d be stuck in the crappy side room. At $46 a head this was our most reasonable opttion. The only other reasonable option at $49 a head has a pretty bad room to have the dinner in and no bar area.

So now we''re stuck with the $65 a head option (and it''s only that pricce because we have to drop a course to get it that price!). The food will be better and there''s a bar there. It''s a bit more upscale food-wise by no nice outdoor patio.

This really blows. Why do people do that? Unless you throw money at them right away you get HOSED! ARRRGGGHHH!

Oh to add insult to injury... the new place costing us more... I could care less where we eat at this point but my FI''s parents will be bent since they are the one''s ''hosting it'' and want the meet and greet at a nice place. That''s all well and good but if you see my other post in the who''s paying for your wedding thread you''ll see that the FI''s parents are only paying 1/3 of what they promised us and will not be contributing a penny more even though this dinner is way over budget. I don''t get why people ''demand'' so much when it''s YOUR wedding!
