Thanks for the "sticky" Ali and Andrey!!!

How did you come across this community?

We were in the early stages of our e-ring search, and I came lookin' for more atypical rings, as I knew I wanted something a bit unique. Found SMTR and discovered there were shapes other than round and princess
3.gif
and got stuck first in the LIW then the BWW! Two years later, I'm about to "graduate" from the BIW list!!

What made you join?

I don't have the lurking gene
9.gif
I can do fly-bys, but once I've been hanging around somewhere regularly, I have to participate.

What has kept you around?

I don't know!! I just can't escape!!!! ......

How did you come across this community?

Google, of course. Searching for info on Asschers the very first minute I had an inkling my DH & I might ever get hitched.

What made you join?

To sass Mara. Boy, she''s a force of nature (in the best possible way), no?
3.gif
Okay, I also was sucked head-first into the whole Octagonal Asscher Pave Halo vortex & couldn''t free myself. And then I got involved in people''s stories & progress & wanted to keep up ... also, pitch in when I could -- especially about Asschers or design or celebs or pop culture or dogs or offering personal stories that might relate to someone''s current situation etc.

What has kept you around?

I''m going to have to think about that. Habit? Not sure anymore. I''m not generally a ''support-seeker''. And so many of the folks that I really clicked with early on have, um, moved on: Irina, Fountainfairfax, Blueroses, Wallermama, Widget, heck -- even Mara for the most part. And lately there''s seemed like so much I have to avoid that it''s hard to find the fun parts anymore. Food for thought.

Deco: I really miss Widget: I wish she would come back .

How did you come across this community?
Searching for pics of asscher-cut diamond engagement rings on google

What made you join?
I finally had to post pics of my own when I got my ring

What has kept you around?
The incredible people! I think this has been one of the best, friendliest and most supportive online forums - the people here are great. Also, no one else in my life could even begin to understand my diamond obsession, so I get to come here to talk about my fetish

Hey, what ever happened to Miss Mara?
I think she''s been busy with work and her new cupcake business. It''s weird not seeing her around here regularly anymore!

I miss Widget AND her *amazing* jewelry! Hope she''s doing okay.

Me too Tacori, I miss seeing all of her gorgeous pieces. I do hope she is OK and all is well with her.

I''ve felt this way too. Big bummer

I think it''s a natural thing, as communities grow. Not that I have a lot of forum experience or anything, just what I''ve noticed on PS... and it''s gotten exponentially bigger even since I "came here" in ''06.

This has been on my mind ladies and gents.

Totally my opinion, so don''t hold it against me.

It is indeed unfortunate to see this dynamic that has festered here at pricescope. It is however not anything new to the forum world. Each and everyone of us log in everyday for our own personal reasons, whether it be to help, to obtain some type of gratification, to share and search ideas, to test others aswell as ourselves and sadly some join an post as a way to raise conflict in an otherwise smooth environment.

It is the wonderous world of the internet that allows a certain amount of annominity and with that a gateway for some to act and say things that they may (or may not) express in the real world. Each and every member is entitled to hit the submit button, therefore each and every one of us should respect that amount of communicative power and remember that although we sit at a computer in a seemingly safe and sterile environment far from repercussion that the audience is VERY real with very real feelings.

With the founders of pricescope in mind I am somewhat ashamed that we all continue to act so poorly with this issue or unkindness and dramatic redundancy continuing to arise. After all we have all come here for the love of diamonds and many of us have formed wonderful relationships.

Love you guys, now I am off my soap box!

So in the spirit of learning-

How did you come across this community? I had a jeweler tell me about it and suggest I take a look.

What made you join? I so loved reading Garry''s posts and wanted to be able to ask questions of my own.

What has kept you around? The many genuinely incredible people that I have encountered.

I''ll take coconut cream if you’re offering!! lol

I found this community becuase i was searching for ANY informaiton on my gma''s ring i could find (specifically IRID100.. i now know what it means and always beat the sales people at it)..

I stayed becuase of the LIW thread - i have no girlfriends in my situation (LIW) and the best friend i have can only stand so much of it
9.gif
. I also stayed to gain more information, courage, etc for ring and jewelry shopping. I have always liked it, but felt that becuase i have poor dexterity in my hands (no artistic skills whatsoever) i kinda gave up on my idea of designing jewelry. Now that i have seen SOOO many beauties here, i can acurately discribe new ideas and designs that pop into my head :) Its like a mini crash course here! ALSO it gave me the big girl pants to make my own decision about what type of ring i want, and to chose to use my gma''s ring in the way I see fit.

How did you come across this community?

I was running a search trying to pick a new setting and stubled across this gem of a forum.

What made you join?

I have the world's most boring, tedious job. I love jewlery. I like forums because they give me something to do between annoying callers. Add it all together - and I joined Pricescope!

What has kept you around?

The wonderful people I have found.
5.gif
The amazing wealth of knowledge and opportunity to learn.

I concur with what others have said - even with minor squabbles, this is by far the most civilized forum I've ever been a part of.

ETA: Can you tell my job is boring? 1,000 posts in 2 months? Sheesh. I need more work, LOL!

Regarding kvetch - some people need to get a life. Spending your time trashing other''s people lives hardly qualifies as having one of your own. That''s all I''m going to say about that.

I came here looking for settings for my pear upgrade stone. I got a ton of information, a place for commiseration and venting, and people who appreciate jewelry (and other things) as much as I do.

I stayed because this community is a great sounding board and a wonderful place of support. Like dealing with my mom''s cancer diagnosis and treatments and writing about the experience here when I couldn''t bear to talk about it to anyone. That''s why I stay. The PEOPLE here are gems, not the rocks.

yikes, i googled it and its part of indiebride, which can be an interesting site, but its confusing and they have several threads bashing us for being materialistic... Not sure what the purpose of doing that was, but I hope it brought those posters joy. It made me sad that they were so snarky, a level of snarky that we do not even see in ATW, but on the other-hand pleased to have found PS.

I came here looking for what to do with finding a wedding band to fit with an EC...and found Selkie and so many other lovely ladies in Colored Stones, and then everyone in BWW was just super helpful in wedding stuff. Just so many lovely, intelligent folks. A nice place to spend time.

Yes, that is exactly what I did too. After some of the first posts on this thread I googled it and saw it is part of that website. If you do a search for Pricescope, you''ll see lots of bashing. Then again, don''t bother, it''s not worth your time. Seriously. See my original post in this thread.

I found PS on a google search. I don''t remember now exactly what I was googling, radiants or asschers. Anyway, I saw the amazing stones and then I began to really learn about what I was buying. It made sense to get as much info on my side as possible, so I joined. With the PS knowledge as by saber, I made a great purchase that I''m very happy with (over a year later). I stayed because this is one of those rare forums where people are actually quite intelligent and diverse. It makes for great conversation, debate, and education.

This is also one of the online places that feels safe, thanks to the moderators.

I lost my diamond ring that I had owned for seven years and decided to study up on diamonds before replacing it. I was amazed when I found PS with all of the useful information here. Things had really changed over seven years. I have stayed because I learned enough here to be able to indulge my love of diamonds and colored stones. Plus you guys are so much fun to be with.

I agree.

I found this place searching Asschers, which is what I first wanted for my upgrade. Obviously I didn''t end up with one.

After lurking awhile, my first thread was on how "not fun" diamond shopping was, I felt like Julia Robert''s in Pretty Woman. I had the money, but the people weren''t treating me right/honestly/respectfully, etc. I got so many nice responses.
16.gif
I''d been on other boards, I could tell this was a nice place. And it''s chocked full of info, I''m still learning!

I stayed because of the people, and also to try and give back as much as I''d learned from scouring literally hundreds of threads. So, that''s why I''m here. You guys rock.

I found this site while doing a search for diamond rings. I joined because I love jewels and jewelry and I like to chat with others who have the same interests. (Obsessions;) I became further involved as I explored the site and saw other forums and topics... I like the tone of the community (most of the time) and I feel like it is a good place to celebrate, vent frustration, pose questions, and learn about other points of view.

I found this site looking for info on ovals. ...and I'm still here!

PS is a great crowd! Where else can you say, "I'm not crazy about 90+% LGF, but I don't like my pavillion mains short and stumpy either--80%? just right."

PS is FUN--pure and simple.

Hmm. I''d never heard about it before. That one thread is interesting.

Even more interesting, is that I recognize a couple of the bashers'' screen names as being new additions to PS ("new" since that thread was started).

How did you come across this community? GOOGLE... looking for pics of the Tiffany Lucida 3 stone... never found any but found an awesome forum!

What made you join? So I could post pics of my wax! LOL!

What has kept you around? The positive, and encouraging, awesomely fabulous group of ladies (and our few gents)!!!

I want some more of the chocolate cake my mom made me for my birthday... any one live near Pensacola? haha!

In response to your little soap box vent. I try to just ignore the negative stuff. I don''t understand why people feel the need to be that way... online or in real life! It has always been a mystery to me!

It''s one thing to think it... but like you said... so easy to hit that little submit button... still strange that people forget there is another real person on the other end!

One of the things that I LOVE about PS... is that I can enjoy the fruits of our labor... and be excited about it, and have someone else say YAY with me... without having to feel like I'm being some snooty materialistic WITCH!

I LOVE you ladies for letting me enjoy myself!!!

FG, what a lovely thing to have said!!

And I agree with you. Recently there was a thread, and a question was posed. I answered it, and someone proceeded to be completely offensive and vile towards me, being very personally nasty. I held my end but I was really very upset. Disagree with me, totally fine. I am not going to get my panties in a twist over that. But get nasty, and make really incorrect personal attributions about me? Uh huh. ''

But the real truth is that most of the posters are so wonderful and so informed, that a few stinkers do not make me want to head for the hills.

I'll play...

I found this community in a goggle search for something wedding related and clicked on a thread in BWW and started lurking while stalking Gypsy posts.
9.gif

I came out of lurkdom and joined after being unable to refrain from posting a thread about Bridesmaid Dresses.

I stayed because I ended up meeting SDL, zhuzhu and I don't remember the other San Diego PS'er. And I discovered the other educational and community threads and so many of the other lovely posters here at PS.

I also have an addictive personality and PS is addicting. Now, I am here for the bling education and vendors that will one day make my earrings and pendant.

And for the shopping queens...I am definately here to learn to shop 'til I drop.
