How did you come across the community? I was googling something about wedding stuff and diamonds.

What made you join? Honestly? The sign at the top telling me to stop lurking . . .

What kept you around? The AMAZING, AMAZING people here. I made one post and I was instantly welcomed. I don''t think there is a better community out there. I know that if I had an issue with anything, I could post it here and get so many wise perspectives. Everyone is so supportive and I have to say that I''ve learned a whole lot in the 9 or so months I''ve been here.

I came across PS when I was searching for info on the Lucida. I lurked for a little while and then I found the other sections like the LIW section and I decided to join. The people are what have definitely kept me around. I feel like I nearly know everyone!

I was googling for information on diamonds and came across PS. I lurked for a little while then just jumped in with both feet! Ellen was the first person to speak to me and I love her! She made me feel so welcome and didn't think I was silly for asking things that were probably asked a million times before.

I stick around because I feel that I have made a lot of wonderful friends here. I do live a long way from everyone but I will definitely meet them one day. (and don't think that you are getting away with not meeting me Bruddah... you know who you are!)

One thing I have found a bit difficult here is the straight talking! In the UK most people never say what they are thinking. We would rather tiptoe around and not be completely honest for fear of hurting someones feelings. On PS I have had a lot of comments which have been a little hard to receive. I know that intentions have been mostly genuine and people do want to help me sort something out. I feel that I have become thicker skinned as a result of posting here!!

I hope to stay here for a long time to come. I have been supported through things with my little boy, people have shared my happiness and also my worries with me. I really think I have more good friends on here than I do in real life.

I hope I can also help and support people too. Just don't ask me anything diamond related because I don't really understand the technical stuff! I can tell you how pretty it looks though!

FG, what a lovely thing to have said!!

And I agree with you. Recently there was a thread, and a question was posed. I answered it, and someone proceeded to be completely offensive and vile towards me, being very personally nasty. I held my end but I was really very upset. Disagree with me, totally fine. I am not going to get my panties in a twist over that. But get nasty, and make really incorrect personal attributions about me? Uh huh. ''

But the real truth is that most of the posters are so wonderful and so informed, that a few stinkers do not make me want to head for the hills.

I remember that poster Caroline, wanted to smack her upside the head

So glad she took a powder.

Linda
Don''t you worry about stuff like that my dear DiamondFan, WE know how wonderful you are!!!!!

I haven't answered the main topic.

I found PS over 3 years ago when I was Googling diamonds, I had been very interested in diamonds since childhood, so I felt I had stumbled onto a treasure trove - indeed I had! I joined more or less immediately, it felt like a good place for someone like me.

I stick around because I love learning and helping, but also because of the people. Pricescope has blessed me with some wonderful friendships ( you know who you are

) and I love the sense of community, helpfulness and the way we all strive to make it even better!

I think we have something very unique here and I am proud to be part of it.

Lorelei, you are the gem here, as someone pointed out, it is the people who make this site sparkle!

You are GREAT and that''s the truth!

I came because I was googling Asschers, and found all of these amazing threads about them. I also discovered other forums, and was part of the original LIW thread, before it became it''s own forum.

This community has helped me through so much - for two years when DH wouldn''t commit to a deadline, kept using ''soon'' in the boy-soon sense, and then all of a sudden, I was getting married in 8 weeks - from planning my whirlwind wedding, getting engaged 3 weeks before the day, and finally getting married in Las Vegas. PS has been a wonderful structure of support for me, and I enjoy coming here everyday.

I found PS 4 years ago when I was looking for an upgrade for my 25th anniversary. I ended up just changing the setting and I lurked here for quite a while before finally taking the plunge in 2005. This was my first board and I was very hesitant to post but I was welcomed very warmly by Kaleigh, Belle, FireGoddess and Widget [I miss Widget and Belle so much]. I stayed because I just love any kind of sparkly and where else could I get my fix at any hour of the day? That and the fact that most of the people here are sincerely wonderful people who help and support as best they can. I''ve met some truly wonderful people as a result and now it just feels like home.

How did you come across this community?
Googling for jewelry sites.
What made you join?
I was reading something someone wrote that sounded a lot like my own thoughts. I thought it was inviting and friendly.
What has kept you around?
Such good, good people. I don''t know what I would''ve done without the support when my mother was ill and passed on.

My little blurb: I wonder some times, as I''ve read some kinds of abrasive things lately, if some people would ever talk the way they do at work or to their significant others the way they talk here. I just do not see the need to be so brutal. I''m with the camp that thinks if you can''t say anything nice, just don''t add to the hooplah. Also, I think sarcasm is passive aggressive and can be hurtful. Enough said.

How did you come across this community?

i googled "rich ladies with diamonds"

What has kept you around?

cuz we need more guys on PS to keep the ladies out of trouble.

because you repeated your answer. Usually people do that when they feel ignored.

DF, do you feel ignored?
Tacori, I meant to say this in response to one of your first posts, but I forgot to. I hope I personally haven't made you feel ignored/invisable. While I read a ton of posts on here, and many which really move me /interest me/make me laugh, I don't respond to most of them. Not because I don't think they're worthy, but because I simply can't respond to everything I want, or my post count would look worse than it does.
yikes2.gif

I would imagine there are others that do the same thing. What I'm trying to say is, please don't take it personally. You are a really sweet person, and we love having you (and your darling avs) here.

ETA, ok, maybe just the invisable part, I read too much in before you posted the last part.

I don''t take it personally...most of the time...I am sure it has happened to everyone. Like when you offer suggestions or advice and the OP never says anything about them. KWIM?!? Just wanted any NBs that might feel invisible that even someone who has been here for years feels that way once in awhile.

My comment to DF was more of a tease since we were all ignoring his post. Guess we have no rich women looking for a married man on here!

Do I know what you mean. I go through that almost every day, at least once, (lately a few) times a day in RT. The best are when I and several others give advice, and IF the OP decides to respond/say thank you at all, it''s to one person. Makes me wonder if I/we really posted, lol. It also makes me want to do this --->

GRANNY Linda

I had just seen a baguette halo setting and thought it might work to cure my DSS so I did a google search for some information. This forum popped up. Never heard of it or seen it before, but I decided to ask a question about the amazing setting I had seen. And got a lot of great responses. The first few months, I was only interested in logging on when I had a question about the baguette halo, to pick everyone''s brains. Valeria is the one poster who really impressed me, I still remember how I awesome she was, so one day I did a search for her old threads, started reading them... then started posting in other''s threads. Wanting to help others as they helped me. It took me FOREVER to leave RT and venture to other boards, but so many of the members on here intrigued me, and I wanted to find out more about them. So I started lurking on those boards, then eventually posting.

Now, I come on here almost everyday, and love this place. As Kaleigh said, you all have given me more smiles and warm moments than I can count. I love the community, the support and the laughter. I too miss so many of the members that have moved on, and I wish them the best... but I do wish we could just get check ins from them to know all is well. Widget, Wallermama, Blue, Belle... just to echo a few.

And I totally agree, that the people on here are the real gems. So many wonderful people in one place!
LOL @ Miracles. I feel like a side show at times. But in a good way. Kinda.... *snort*
Great thread IWPO.
