Wow, you have to see these. The colour is so amazing as is the size, too bad they are too soft. Some of them even have the colour of a very fine pad - peachy pink, don't you think? At least they do on my monitor.

TL,
Do you have any? I''ve always thought about getting one but would constantly worry while wearing it, even if I purchased one already set.

TL,
Do you have any? I''ve always thought about getting one but would constantly worry while wearing it, even if I purchased one already set.
No I do not, but I have been so tempted in the past to get one. It is rather soft, and with soft gems, not only do you have to be careful wearing it, but you really have to be careful who sets it. However, that color reminds me of that perfect lotus flower color that people covet so much, and the perfect integration of pink and orange without being separate. The RI is supposed to be nice as well. It''s not just a lovely color with a glassy appearance. In other words, they sparkle!!

I just got a few translucent rhodocrosite cabochons (a cushion and 4 small navettes). Lovely colour, but small and the cushion has a slight internal crack.I picked through his lot to find the few nice ones (the others were heavily included, had splotchy colours or both). The dealer is on another buying trip to the same locality and I have threatened him with bodily harm if he doesn''t come back with more.

I am rather afraid of setting them, but I was thinking of a nice pair of earrings and a pendant. With blue (true blue, without any hint of green) accent stones, to bring out the pink. Any ideas?

I thought we''re supposed to get cash for CNY? Since when did that tradition change to gemstones?

Ooooo, those are gorgeous! I have one cabachon pendant that my husband picked up when he was in S. America.

Most people have them set in earrings and pendants (by extremely good benchpeople who know how to deal with gemstones other than the usual sapphire, ruby, etc). If I did buy any, I''d probably buy those already set, like the one offered on ACS.

You''ll never see a tourmaline that color!! That''s what I like about rhodochrosite. Most pads look like a shade of raspberry or peach tourmaline to me, but the rhodochrosite simply looks like top quality padparadscha. Can you imagine a pad of that color on the NSC website??? It would be $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Very pretty! remind me of jolly ranchers!

Mmmmm...that color is seriously yummy. Reminds me of a mango/raspberry sherbert.

Oh wow! Those are gorgeous! I have a bunch of rough Rhodocrosite but nothing gem quality like those beauties! YUM!

My mom lives in CO and sent me some lovely chunks from the old Sweet Home Mine :)

One of my favourite gemstones - I was vaguely hunting one last year, but the really beautiful ones are very expensive as well. Those are all the most fantastically perfect colour as well. I don't dare look too hard....

I don't think I'd risk setting one - too hard to replace in the event of an accident, but I'd like one for a box.

Woah, on that same site, this is gorgeous!!!

Here is a fine example of what Colorado can produce: a 19.78-carat round brilliant, 16.8 mm in diameter. This stone has been sold. (Photo: Jason Stephenson)

Chinese New Year.

Yummy!!! I''d be happy just looking at those all day, without setting them - and then going out and getting some Jolly Ranchers

Jolly ranchers don''t sparkle though.

I think the stones often photograph very flat, and it''s hard to capture the true sparkle from these stones. Here''s another picture of one where you can see more scintillation.

That is gorgeous. It reminds me of a ring pop. The color is seriously appetizing. Too bad these stones are too soft for everyday wear.

Wow! I love the color. I saw that picture earlier in Pala''s gem news. I agree with tourmalinelover that it''s like the perfect pad color. Would love to have one of those for a pendant. I have added it to my ''wish list''.
