I don''t know much about these stones other than I love their color. Does anyone know their hardness? I would like to find a smaller one to make a project out of, but I don''t want it to be round or oval...

Thanks so much in advance

Sparkles, rhodolite garnets are 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale so they would be fine in rings. The color is awesome. I have a couple of rings and really like them.

Great! Thanks for the help! I wasn''t sure where they stood. Is that pretty close to sapphires? I know those are really durable stones.

Sapphires are rated at 9. If you aren''t hard on your jewelry garnets are pretty hardy stones.

Okay great thanks. Any recommendations as to wear to find some smaller, like 5mm x 5mm stones?

Since they are generally pretty cheap I try several places and pick which one I want. I know I''m not getting AAA stones but as long as I like the color and they sparkle I''m happy. One of mine I found at a local jewelers in his loose gemstones and the other I had a local jewelry store order in for me. Both were about $40 dollars. I''ve also ordered some from these links:

I have a loose gemstone dish and anything I don''t use I usually just throw in there.
