Great! Thanks for the help! I wasn''t sure where they stood. Is that pretty close to sapphires? I know those are really durable stones.Date: 2/24/2008 1:56:58 PM

Sparkles, rhodolite garnets are 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale so they would be fine in rings. The color is awesome. I have a couple of rings and really like them.
Okay great thanks. Any recommendations as to wear to find some smaller, like 5mm x 5mm stones?Date: 2/24/2008 2:10:13 PM

Sapphires are rated at 9. If you aren''t hard on your jewelry garnets are pretty hardy stones.

Since they are generally pretty cheap I try several places and pick which one I want. I know I''m not getting AAA stones but as long as I like the color and they sparkle I''m happy. One of mine I found at a local jewelers in his loose gemstones and the other I had a local jewelry store order in for me. Both were about $40 dollars. I''ve also ordered some from these links:

I have a loose gemstone dish and anything I don''t use I usually just throw in there.
