Hi all, just thought id update you on ring looking with SO. We decided when we got to the UK we''ld have a look in London. Not that we''ll be buying on the pound (not with the aussie dollar as it is!!) but so I can get an idea of what size stone im after (BIG!!!

) , proportions and setting etc. Im looking at emerald cuts and am still leaning towards a custom east-west setting but i actually want to try some on before i completely make the decision and leave it to SO...

But yes in Paris a few days ago we stopped in at Cartier and I tried on a 2.2 carat emerald cut in the ballerine setting (sort of a split shank pave-ish band?!). And the price tag??? Only 63,00 euros

who could believe it - im pretty sure a pricescope vendor could do better, what do you think?

In any case ladies will update you on how the trip goes, should be in the next few days i think

cant wait!! Oh and any suggestions for nice jewellers in London that carry a good range of step cuts would be appreciated

The ballerine setting is so gorgeous. This thread has a lot of great ballerine look-a-likes that are much more budget friendly. Here's a few pics,

BP, contact Dr Indira Marchant at www.bestdiamonds.co.uk Indira posts here and is a lovely lady, she is also an expert on diamonds and carries step cuts I believe, she definitely knows a lot about them.

How is your darling little cat???

totally understandable!!

The ring appraising expedition was a bust. Despite it being SO''s idea in the first place he just didnt want to be there so i didnt want to be there, and the place we went was awful. Hatton Garden was recommended to us as the ''jewellery quarter'' but there was nothing of the size (
31.gif
) or the quality that i was after, to say nothing of styles. Should have just gone to tiffanys! At least they always have a decent range... But lets not discuss it because i was quite miserable over it

Lorelei footloose is doing great, though the single claw that the poor boy possesses is giving him trouble and may have to be surgically removed

poor sweet, but he''s very happy and very spoiled - apparently he''s found a tree in the garden that he likes to be carried to and then he has a crack at its bark with his stumps

such a sweet thing!!
