Ring guard to occasionally turn solitaire into 3-stone?

Hiya Lads and Ladies! I am in dire need of sound advice. I have a pair of stud earrings that hold a lot of sentimental value to me but never get worn (due to an upgrade). I would like to reset them into a guard type ring for my e-ring solitaire to turn it into a three stone ring whenever the mood strikes. Has anyone done this before? If so, can you please post pics? I know what I want it to look like in my head, but Im having a tough time explaining the way I would like it to sit to my husband. Resetting my e-ring would be easier but is not a possibility - my husband isn't comfortable with the thought and to be completely honest, I love it the way it is, I would just like to be able to change it up on occasion.

Many thanks in advance,
Tanya

Thats exactly it! Thankyou! I think Ive only ever seen one other on here and I really wish I had bookmarked it.

Im trying to explain to my husband because he's the one that speaks to our jeweller. But the pictures in that thread are going to make it much easier. Thanks again :)

You're welcome. In case you are interested in using the vendor who did the sapphire guard, it's Whiteflash.

Stuller makes mountings for those. They are called "enhancer," too. The shank has to match the shank on your e-ring in type, width, and size, the gap has to be just right so that the enhancer looks right. And of course the two mountings for the side stones have to be correct size for your diamonds.

These can also be called wrap in addition to guard or enhancer. Bliss actually upgraded the ring posted above with sapphire wrap and had a diamond one done for 3 stone ring look.

Bliss's ering is the first one I thought of when I saw this thread...

Oh, thats the thread I was thinking of!!! I cant wait to show the husband when he gets home! Thanks so much! You guys are brilliant!!!!!

Ok, now for the sides! I have two options for sides: 2 x 0.35ct or 2 x 0.625ct. I'm leaning towards the 0.625ct sides but I don't know if they will overwhelm the middle stone. I worry that the 0.35ct sides won't provide adequate coverage. My ring finger is a 6.5. Would really appreciate some advice on which to choose. Pictures of rings with similar specs would also be appreciated :)
