Hi everyone!

I just got a lovely new aquamarine. It’s on it’s way to me and I can’t help but try to figure out the perfect setting for it.

Here are my two options:

Tulip motif

And of course the aqua!

Let me know what you think :) . I am very confused here :???:

Really liking the second setting - the vintage one. Any other photos of that blingin' aqua? :))

I like both of those settings. How big is the aqua?

No not yet but it’s on it’s way to me! I’ll post many when I get it which should be in 5 days

I also would like to see more pictures of the stone!
I vote also for the second setting. Are these both from I&R?

Yes both are from there! Turns out I was only looking at Etsy before but they have more options on their official website as well as their ebay page. I found the second setting on those not Etsy.

Beautiful stone!!! I like the second (vintage) setting for it: refined and elegant. The first setting is more elaborate en will give you more finger coverage, but I love the clean lines of the second setting.

I have also ordered my setting from their regular website. Much bigger selection, and better prices.
I think you can’t go wrong with non of their settings.

I’d love to know, were the diamonds in your setting good quality compared to maybe some of the other stuff in your jewellery box? I’ve never bought from them before so want to be sure of my decision.

Thank you Acinom! Super excited to see it in person. The setting I’m on the fence mostly because I love tulips! I don’t usually like floral motifs but this one was so interesting. I agree though the second one is cleaner. I will email them to ask for what it looks like with a stone in it, for a better comparison.

The diamonds are really tiny, but I think they are decent quality for the price, definitely better than in my LOGR band.

If I compare the setting to other pieces with pave, of course my more expensive items have better quality, but I think the price-performance ratio is OK.

I love diamonds with aquamarine. I think the first setting is lovely, but I can see the diamonds better on the second setting. I think it’s worth the extra $100 to go with the second setting.

Another vote for the second setting. Love the vintage vibe it has and the cleaner lines. Beautiful stone:love: and it will look fabulous in whichever setting you choose.:appl:

Hmm ok, something to keep in mind. It’s good to have expectations clear from the start. The price is very good but frankly their setting charges are a bit steep so I will also keep that in mind while adjusting my expectations.

Wow that’s basically everyone voting for the second setting! Thank you guys for your inputs. You’re right I think the diamonds will be more substantial in the second one. I’ll just ask them to send me a picture with a stone in the setting to confirm.

Guess I’m the only one who prefers the Tulip :cry2: It’s very unique and lower set, probably a bit safer for the aqua.

Awww Chrono! actually I kind of preferred it too because of the seemingly lower setting. That’s why I’m looking first to get a picture from the vendor to see how high it will be. I’m really bad at judging unset settings. I saw one from them posted on loupe Troop - a mahenge garnet and felt it was a bit high for me and want to avoid that. I won’t be able to replace this aqua if it gets damaged, it took me a year to find the medium colour. Also when I look now more closely at the thickness of the band in between the fingers, I think the tulip one is thinner and more comfortable looking.
Plus it’s cheaper and I’m also looking to get them to do one custom setting for me which is quite a bit more expensive- 729! That too without any diamonds but that’s for an even more special stone and takes priority.

So I may just go with the tulip one yet!

Yeah, I much prefer the Tulip setting too, but either will be fine I'm sure ... have fun deciding!

Thank you Marymm for your confidence. I hate the decision process but cannot wait to see my aqua in person and hope that will make it easier :)

It’s 6.5 mm. The first one is cheaper by about a 100 dollars but I also think equally pretty

Thanks for the response :-) That's a great size, by my standards, can't wait to see it set!

It looks like the tulip setting is much lower so I think I will end up going with that!! I’m a real clutz with high settings.

But since I’m in singapore and there’s a limit to how many times I can work with Ivy, I thought I’d also get a mahenge Spinel and small blue barry tourmaline set! The spinel is 6 mm and I was looking for a simple inexpensive setting for it. I think I like this one below. Let me know what you’ll think!!

I am unsure of these kind of prongs. Do you have this sort? If so could you share a picture of what they look set?

For the barry blue tourmaline which is only 5mm I was thinking of this one:

Do share what you thinks I’ve never even thought of getting so many done at once.

Great decision! It will look fabulous.

Love the setting you have chosen for the vibrant mahenge. Love the elegant and clean lines.

Personally I am not a huge fan of the setting you have chosen for you wonderful blue tourmaline. The setting does not ‘flow’ enough to my taste because of the stern square lines.

I really like the first setting and what a great price! I usually don't reply on setting threads because I am a complete doofus about them, but when I saw the first one I said "Ohh". The second one is not my taste but I'm sure it will look wonderful when set. Oh, and your stones are beautifus!

Thank you both. I have been doubtful about the setting for the blue tourmaline as well. It’s just so hard to find settings for 5 mm stones! I’m open to anything at this point but I will reconsider. I think acinom you said it best, the lines are stern and don’t bring out the best in a pretty round stone. I think I’ll just keep that aside for now.

For the spinel, it’s great to hear from you that you like the setting. I was a bit unsure because it’s so inexpensive ! It’s cute and simple and hopefully it’ll work out :) the only thing is I feel ridiculous paying 99 for setting charges on top of a 195 dollar ring! Are setting charges in the US that steep! :eek2:

Very light and airy I love this together!

Gorgeous stone and setting!!!! Great choices

Very pretty aqua and it looks great in the setting. :)
