Ok, I am a sap for a good story! I''d love to hear about romantic or cute gestures by SO''s, DH''s, DW''s, FI''s, etc... anything that they have ever done that caught you by surprise and made you feel loved, special, or totally floored. (engagement stories are OK, but there are threads for that...)

I''ll start :)

So, during my senior year in college, I start going NUTS about a jazz song that I loved, but didn''t know the name of. I could sort of hum the "melody", but it had no lyrics... it''s just a song that I had heard. My friends just laughed at me about trying to remember this crazy song, and I got frustrated and basically gave up.

One night (while SO and I were on a break from dating), we were laying on the floor watching the movie "Love Jones," and I HEAR IT! My song! It was right there all along! (I owned the DVD). So when the credits rolled, I loudly proclaimed the name of the song and the artists, and finally experience the relief of knowing something that was nagging you for months. SO just laughs at me, and is happy that I am no longer tortured. The next day, I download the song from the internet, and order the CD.

The song was "In a Sentimental Mood" by coltrane and davis

Fast forward a year later, SO and I are back to dating

, and he comes to visit me for a weekend. (He lives in the DC area, I live in NC) As the weekend is winding down on Sunday, he goes to the CD player, and pops in a CD. "In a sentimental mood" starts playing, and I smile. However, this version is somehow different... SO had recorded himself doing a trumpet accompaniment of the song! (he played the trumpet in HS) SO had found a copy of the arrangement and purchased it, then rented a trumpet for 3 months so that he could practice the song, then he recorded it, and played it for me. I still have the copy of the song. and listen to it when I am missing him, or feeling down. I was so impressed by how incredibly thoughtful and meaningful a simple song could become... and I already loved the song before!
