I apologize for the last post. What I submitted lost its formatting when it posted. This is the same info, but easier to read. The question still is: Which of the four stones is the best deal? Thanks again. Regards.

mj, I''m gonna have to tell you that none of those diamonds sounds very good at any price. For one thing, a 1.5 ct. diamond should be about 7.4mm in diameter if cut well. Those 1.5''s face up about the size of a 1.25 ct. stone. You need to look for at least very good on polish and symmetry, no greater depth than 62.3, and the girdle should be anywhere from thin, medium, to slightly thick. You do not want very thin, thick, or very thick. If your price range is about $7000, you probably need to be looking more at 1 to 1.3 ct stones to get a true ideal cut with GIA or AGS certificates.

Hi DS 2006,

Mea Culpa once again. Stone number 3 measures 7.28x7.32x4.59, which is closer to the parameters you describe. I erred by repeateing the measurements of stone number 2. Does that change anything? Thanks for the help. MB

Those measurements are better, but that stone has some problems:

#3
Weight 1.50
Color I
Clarity VS2
Depth 64.4 *normally you want to see 62.3 or less for this
Table 57
Sym G *you want to see very good or excellent here
Pol VG
Girdle STK-VTK * you do not want thick or very thick here (thin, med. or slightly thick are okay)
Culet N
Fleur VST *there are some very strong florescence stones that are cloudy. The vendor would have to have the stone to evaluate this
Meas. 7.05x7.09x4.55 *your new measurement of 7.3mm is better, but still smaller than it should be
Cut Excellent
Price 6,966
Lab GIA

Those are some mighty deep stones you''ve got there! Definitely check out the ones diamondseeker has pointed out!
