Rose-cut diamonds vs other rose-cut colorless stones

I know that brilliant-cut white topaz or white sapphire doesn't look like brilliant-cut diamond, but how do rose-cut versions of each compare? If I want the look of rose-cut diamond stud earrings, would rose-cut white sapphire/topaz studs look nearly identical?
