There is always much talk that yellow gold is best suited to hold a red stone.
Yellow neutralizes blue (or shades of purple) and makes the red stone even redder

I was wondering how will a red gemstone look in a rose gold setting.

Anyone have photos of to share?

there is rose gold and then there is rose gold.....14k is going to look a lot different than 18k.

i wear an 18k red gold chain that the untrained eye cannot differentiate from plain 18k gold...until it is placed next to an 18k gold chain.

i''ve also seen a 14k rose gold mounting with a large pink stone and it was overall very effective. i''m not sure it made the stone pinker as much as it created a "presence" as the stone itself was very high quality and w/o any diamond adornment. it was a statement piece and while i''m not into pink, i really liked the ring.

i''d consider 18k red/rose gold but, admittedly, i''m not into gold of less than 18k....except for the above mentioned ring.

ps i''ve also been told that many jewelers do not like to work with red/rose/pink gold whether 14k or 18k.......i think its more about having to buy "x" amount to complete a project and then being stuck with unused product, not that red/rose/pink gold is harder to work with.

Hi, not sure if this will help, but this is my Jeff White red zircon, bezel set in 14k rose gold. I have been very happy with how the stone appears with rose gold, although I think yellow gold would have been attractive as well I have never regretted the setting.

baby, the redness of your zircon keeps the red/pink/rose gold in perspective...not too red nor too pink. nice.

another option would be a red/rose/pink gold bezel with the band being yellow gold....or the reverse.....depending on what it is the OP is trying to accomplish.

personally, i wish red and green gold were used more often.....

Agreed; I wish I saw more pink and green gold. I have seen some beautiful Middle Eastern and Indian gold pieces with multi-colored gold. I really love Mochi''s green gold chrysoberyl ring.
