Royal Jewels

Hi, TL!

The jade necklace is indeed a pretty one, but as you mantioned it''s not in HM style. That''s hy I said that I doubt she has worn it.

The Paraiba tourmalines would look nice, but I don''t think HM will ever wear/own such parure, atleast if someone doesn''t present her a nice set (maybe for the Diamond jubilee). The aquas, however, are some of the biggest that I''ve seen. I think The Queen likes her aquamarines and has enough jewels that she hasn''t worn for decades, so it''s not likely that she''ll buy a new set.

One last thing about the stones HM has. The Queen must have many opals left hrom Queen Alexandra and Queen Victoria. She also owns a necklace with a huge opal, again never worn.

The aqua set was gifted to her by the Brazilian government I believe. I think she likes them so much that she had a tiara made to match the set. Oh, to be Queen and not only get these wonderful jewels, but for FREE!!

Hi, TL!

You''re right. The necklace, earrings were given to the young Queen Elizabeth II by the President and People of Brazil in 1953 as a coronation gift. In 1958 a brooch and bracelet were preented by the Brazilian Government. The original detachable pendant of the necklace is now the center of the (ugly) tiara. It was replaced by a smaller aquamarine and diamond pendant. When in April 2009 The Presedent of Brazil made a State visit to UK, HM wore the jewels (only the brooch was missing).
My favourite pieces from the paure are the earrings and the brooch.

Here is a picture of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a different tiara. I''m not sure when the picture was taken and when the new tiara was created, but maybe the tiara was dismantled in order to create the new one.

Or maybe the stones were not wsed in QEII''s tiara, but in The Princess Royal''s aqua tiara?
The tiara was later remodeled. Here is its currant form. The Aquamarihe clusters and the central stone are detacable and form a pendant and two brooches.

Sometimes I winder if royal ladies or their ladies in waiting read this and other forums about royal jewels. Royal Jewels of the World Message Board's banner this week shows The Williamson Pink brooch and HM wore it at a garden party. Here we were discusing the Kent amethyst demi-parure and The Queen wore the brooch in Scotland two days ago.

NORTH BERWICK, SCOTLAND - JULY 02: Queen Elizabeth II is seen during a visit to the Scottish Seabird Centre on July 2, 2009 in North Berwick, Scotland. The Royal visit was the first by a reigning monarch since 1902.

Maybe HM is a PS''er in disguise!!

Speaking of the Princess Royal, I am curious what jewelry does she own, pieces frequently loaned to her from HM, etc. This tiara is beautiful, love the color of the stones.

Hi, laurensmama!

This is an interesting topic. The Princess Royal doesn''t usually shine like her mother and (ex)sisters-in-law, but she has some really nice jewels in her collection.

My absolute favourite from her collection is Princess Andrew''s Meander Tiara. The tiara was a wedding present from Prince Philip''s mother to the then Princess Elizabeth. HM has never worn it. In the early 1970''s (1971 I belive) The Queen gave it to her only daughter. It''s a pity that Princess Alice never saw the tiara worn again.

Here you can also see The Princess Royal with a lovely diamond necklace and some long earrings. HRH wears a diamond star brooch. I think it''s inspired by the Queen''s Star brooch, left by Lady Jardine.

In 1974 in Australlia The Princess Royal wore The Aquamarine Tiara's original version. I like it the way it looks now, so congratulations Princess Anne for remodeling it.

This picture makes me wonder which is the princess'' first tiara - Queen Mum''s Scroll or Princess Alice''s Meander?
Queen Mother''s Cartier scroll tiara was a gift from George VI, when still Duke of York. Both, Princess Margaret and Princess Anne, wore it before their mariages. Now it''s in HM''s possession and I hope the York girls will soon wear it.

The Princess Royal's festoon tiara. As far as I know it was a gift from a (shipping) company. I think it's her favourite one.
The necklace on the other hand is another favourite of the princess. What I've read about it, is that it's part of one of Queen Alexandra's big diamond chokers. So it's one of the jewels given by HM The Queen.

When in 2008 Peter Philips married Autumn Kelly, the bride wore her mother-in-law''s festoon tiara.
Here is a picture from HALLO magazine. The pearl and diamond jewels are the groom''s present to his wife.

And last picture of the tiaras - Princess Andrew of Greece and Denmark, nee Princess Alice of Batenberg, wearing the Greec kay/ Meander tiara, she gave The Queen.

And now some necklaces and brooches - A gold and pearl necklace and matching set of earrings. If you look carefully, you may also see a pearl and gold brooch.

We''ve allready seen the diamond necklace in the post with the Meander tiara. Here is Princess Anne''s copy of the Prince Albert (QV''s consort) brooch. I guess you know the story of the original brooch.
I know nothing about the cluster earrings.
This is one of my favourite phohtographs of the princess.

As I''ve said before, parts of the aqua tiara tiara are detachable and can be worn as pendant and brooches. Here''s the center stone, hanging form a pearl(?) necklace and one of the clusters pinned on the jacket''s lapel.

Gathering of the favourites. That''s how a call this picture. I think I''ve pisted it before, but couldn''t resist to post it again.
The star brooch is among Princess Anee''s favourites, with many outings through the years.
The pearl and sapphire choker belonged to the last Empress Mother of Russia (Princess Dagmar of Denmark, later Maria Feodorovna of Russia). HIM died in exile in 1928 in Copenhagen. Queen Mary (wife of GV, MF''s nephew) bought some of the late Empress'' sapphire jewels from her daughters (GV''s cousins).
I love these earrings. Someday I hope I''ll by my wife something like that. If I don''t marry, I guess I''ll buy the set and just admire them every day:)

OMG, I thought she was Diane Lane for a second. I had to take a second look. Very pretty lady.

Yes, Mrs Philips is a very good looking woman an a nice addition to the royal family. Hope she and Peter are happy together and make the Queen a happy great grandmother.

You have probably noticed the lack of man''s jewels here. I don''t mean chains and rings, but jeweled cuff-loinks, shirt buttons, etc. I''ve seen a picture of Prince Charles with a pin on his tie, and King Carl XVI Gustaf wering sappfire cuff-links and buttons. The Prince Consort of Denmark also has diamond buttons, I belive. I als know that he and The PoW have diamond stars of their orders.
I think that in the past royal gentleman wore much more jewels. George IV even had a very beautiful diademe made for him. There were diamond studed pocket watches and hat ornaments.

Here is Prince William of Wales''s monogram on his gold(?) cuff-links.

A picture of Princess Anne with a turquoise and seed pearl necklace.
What I remember about the necklace is that it was given to The Queen and later she gave it to her daughter.
I think this picture is from last year's Ascot.

Here is a not so good picture see HM with the necklace in the way it originally looked. I think the earrings are Queen Alexanda''s wedding gift earrings.

Love that turquoise and seed pearl necklace, it is gorgeous.

The long three row graduating necklace was probably a gift from her parents. There are also long pearl and diamond earrings and a brooch. Any guesses about their provenance?

Yes, Linda. The turquoise and pearl necklase is really nice. I wish HRH wore it more often...

Here are the copy of The Prince Albert Brooch and Empress Maria''s sapphire choker. The earrings are the same as HM''s, so probably they are another gift from The Queen and Prince Philip.
Can''t remember what the ocassion was, but HRH also wore the star of The Garter. That makes it an official occassion, so maybe Trooping the Colour?

This is from her son''s religious wedding. I haven''t seen the necklace before and haven''t found any information on the intentet. The brooch is the same one from the picture with the red dress.
The picture is from Hallo.

I was going to forgot!!!
Princess Anne's engagement ring - a sapphire in the middle and one diamond on each side. We can also see a diamond bracelet and a gold chain bacelet.
I belive this is the ring from Mark Phillips.
Has anyone seen the second ering, the one from Timothy Laurence?
BTW I think that this photo has already been shown by LadyA on the first pages. Am I right?

This is a bit of strange jewelry. A chicken hen broach worn by Prncess Grace (Grace Kelly). I must admit that I'm not in love with this piece, but I thought it was interesting enough to post.

This beautifully crafted hen brooch is crafted from embossed gold, platinum, carved diamonds, emeralds, pearls and coralhttp://www.hellomagazine.com/royalty/2009/04/15/grace-kelly-jewels/
