Royal Jewels

The Order of Victoria and Albert, among others, has never abolished, just haven't been aworded since Sovereign's death.
The next RF order is Eduard VII's. On this picture you can see it above QV's.

And now some Family Orders from the Danes:

Queen Margarethe II of Denmark wearing the order of her father. The portrait is surrounded with large stones and toped by a diamond crown. The orders that her sisters wear only have a small diamond border. The image is also smaller than this one.

This is part of a huge photograph with The President of Bulgaria, his wife Zorka and The Prince Consort, taken at Amalienborg Castle on 29 March 2006.

This is the order that The Queen''s sisters - Princess Benedikte and Queen Anee Maria wear.

The Queen''s order on HRH The Crown Princess.

I found this one in my archive - a much better piture of the order. This one was given to the former Princess Alexandra of Denmark.

The Norwegian royals also fave Family orders. Here is the Queen wearing her husband's. A small image of King HErald V in a diamond and pink topaz/sapphire framå. HM also has Olav V of Norway's family order. I've never seen it.

The only other RF that I know has such awords is the Swedish. I'll post their pics tomorrow.

Here is The Royal Family Orfer of King Carl VI Gustaf of Sweden.
This order has some differances, deppending on who wears it. The one that The Queen wears has a more ornate top decoration and a different bow.

Here is Princes Madeleine's. You can clearly see the difference between hers and The Queen's. I think her sister wears an identical one.

And the last one is Princess Lilian, Duchess of Halland''s. A smaller number of diamonds and also a different bow. The King''s sisters are far less photographed, so it''s hard to say what orders they ear. Maybe as members of the extended family, they have this one?

I just found these one. It looks that the bow on The Crown Princess'' order is the same as HM''s.
This picture is also a nice one, because it shows the button tiaras side by side.

This is the last one. I promise!

Close up of the RFO that Queen Silvia wears. This picure is from last year''s Noble Prize Gala.

I love the crown pricesses'' tiara...

I don''t want to argue with you, UCLABelle, but this is one of the worst tiaras I''ve ever seen. It was made with four of Jean Bernadotte''s (the first King of Sweden from the House of Bernadotte) ten diamond buttons. The remaining six are in Princess Lilian''s tiara. With all my respect to me HRH The Crown Princess and her style, she looks like an alien with diamond antennas.
On RoyalMagazin.de you can see the two tiaras and information about the buttons.

Lori

Thank you, Lori! You're really welcome!

This is Queen Victoria Eugenia's Royal Order of V&A. The only two things I forgot to mantion are: This order had four grades(classes), the first two grafes were givven to HM's daughters(-in-law) and granddaughters. The 3rd and 4th classes were aworded to noblewoman from Great Britain.
And the secont thing - Victoria and Albert's order was the last one to have a curved cameo image of the monarch. Every order since The V&A is painted on ivory.

And here is a nice and useful link:

Bobby,
For a lady in her nineties, she has a strikingly beautiful face. Therefore, I looked her up since your pictures of royalty always intrique me, and it turns out she was a Welsh fashion model when she was young. Thank you for the lovely picture of Princess Lilian, among others

I followed your lead, tourmaline_lover, and also looked up Princess Lilian. Her story and that of Prince Bertil is somewhat similar to that of Prince Charles and The Duchess of Cornwall. Lillian Craig, when Prince Bertil met her in 1943, was a divorced woman. She and the Prince remained lovers, unable to marry, until 1978! This photo was taken of the couple in 1953.

I just took this photo of Diana with my cell phone. It is from the cover of The Royal Wedding Official Souvenir program that my British penpal sent to me in 1981.

Lori,

Thank you so much for posting that picture of Diana. I loved her. She was so beautiful and elegant. What a tragedy that she is gone.

You''re welcome Linda.....this is how I remember Diana. She was so sweet and pure then.

Lori

All these pictures make me think about what a sad story that turned out to be.... I loved her.

Hi, everyone!

The late Princess of Wales looked really innocent and regal before the wedding, but actually I like her later style more.

The pictures that Lori cindly posted were taken at Highgrove by Lord Snowdon (Pss Margaret''s hubby).
Here is another one from the same photosesion. The jewels that the princess wore were on loan from Collingwood jewelers. Collingwood are/were something like Gerrards (spelling?) for the Royal Family. The company wanted to give the set to the Princess, but finally they presented Diana with a pair of pearl and diamond earrings.

Photo and information: DianasJewels.net.

dianaformalengagement.jpg

Here is a closeup of the Collingwood set. The earrings remind me of Queen Victoria''s turkish diamonds and I think the necklace would look nice if worn as a tiara. Maybe I''d look like Queen Mary''s GGB&I?
