Royal Jewels

MJ, thank you for the photos of the Greek royal wedding. It was a lovely affair with many nice jewels and, of course, a gorgeous bride!

Prince and Princess Micheal of Kent and their daughter, Lady Gabriella. Lots of turquoise strands here

Sorry Lady Maria, but the beads in HRH's necklace aren't turquoises. They look like aquamarine or topaz beeds to me. Her earrings are interesting too.

Princess Rosario of Bulgaria, The Princess of Preslav, also attendan and wore a diamond star brooch:

HM Queen Margreth II wore a Fleur-de-lis brooch in diamonds and cabochon sapphires as a centerpiece of her pearls. The brooch belongs to the family's jewellery foundation.

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark with some interesting earrings. It's still hard to believe she's 4 months pregnant with twins!

A clear view of Princess Mary's earrings - golden hoops studded with small diamonds. Thay ca be worn with three different pairs of pendants :

The bride's earrings courtesy Tamara, RJWMB. To me the top part looks like oak leafs and matches the tiara:

Doesn't Princess Lilian look pretty in that royal blue dress! Thanks, Bobby, for the photos. I also adore her bow brooch.

The bride's earrings are just gorgeous, make me drool.

Thanks for the correction! The pic I had was not a close up like yours, so it looked like turquoise from a distance. Your closeup shot is far better!

In this same picture Princess Lillian is wearing a very interesting necklace. Any info on it Bobby?

Yes, MJ. I happen to know something about the necklace. It was a wedding present to Crown Princess Margaret of Sweden (nee of GB), mother-in-law of Princess Lilian, by her in laws. The necklace, created by German jeweller Koch, is composed of of scarabs made of large emerlads, rubies and sapphires hanging from sead pearl stands. The Scarab is the simbyl of Egypt - the place where the couple first met. For the wedding the Khedive of Egypt send Princess Margaret a diamond tiara. When the Crown Princess passed away in 1920, the necklace was inherited by her youngest son Bertil.

Here you can see a photo of the necklace and some info - http://www.royal-magazin.de//sweden/crownprincess-margaretas-necklace.htm

And a photo (the only one I've seen) of CPss Margareta wearing the necklace with her two elder sons by her side:

PS: Anyone knows why Josefine isn't posting here anymore? I've seen her posting regularly on other sites, but not here...?

About Sweden just this stunning pic of Victoria & Daniel

31 AUGUST 2010

Sweden's new prince Daniel Westling is really settling into his regal role following his June wedding to Crown Princess Victoria.

Having made his first official appearance as the Duke of Vastergotland earlier in the month, the 36-year-old once again proved himself to be the perfect gentleman as he escorted his wife to the Polar Music Prize ceremony.

Daniel - dapper in a tailored suit – and Victoria seemed blissfully happy as they walked the red carpet together, the heiress to the throne particularly radiant in a shimmering two-tone metallic dress.

They joined Victoria's mother and father, Carl Gustav XVI and Silvia of Sweden, for the 19th presentation of the music prize – the king annually presents awards to the laureates.

This year it was the turn of Icelandic singer-songwriter Bjork and Italian composer and conductor Ennio Morricone to be honoured at the event, held in Stockholm's Concert Hall.

# 2 also added a pic of some of Sweden tiaras... :naughty:

Diamond Tiara Russe (a.k.a. the Fringe tiara) belongs to an extremely popular type of diadems, based on a Russian prototype. According to royal-magazine.de, it was made ca. 1880, probably by Bolin (one of the favourite jewellers of Grandduchess Maria Pawlowna).

The articulated and graduated fringe set with old european old mine and circular-cut diamonds, mounted in silver and gold, can be dismantled from the frame and worn as a flexibel necklace and also like a head-jewl.

After the death of Grandduchess Maria Pawlowna, all her diamond jewels went to her daughter, Grandduchess Helena Vladimirovna (later Princess Helena of Greece and Denmark), who passed this diadem also to her daughter, Princess Elizabeth of Greece and Denmark.

After her, again the daughter, Countess Helene Toerring-Jettenbach, received the jewel and lend it to her own daughter, Archduchess Helene.

2. Gradduchess Paria Pawlowna;

These are very nice photos from the Windisch-Graetz - Habsburg pre-wedding gala. The bride and her mother wore nice jewels (the fringe tiara in particular :)) Saddly, however, the couple lost their son Alexis in a car crash earlier this year. The young Prince turned 18 just two monts before that...

Diana, in your previous post with the photos of the tiara, #2 isn't Gradduchess Paria Pawlowna (I suppose you meant Maria Pavlovna), but her daughter Elena, a Greek princess by marriage and the mother of Marina, Duchess of Kent, Princess Olga of Yugoslavia and Princess Elizabeth, Gräfin zu Toerring-Jettenbach.

More photos of the tiara worn by familly memberss here - http://www.royal-magazin.de/german/toerring-jettenbach/toerring-fringe-tiara.html, http://www.royal-magazin.de/russia/grossfuerstin-wladimir.htm I like the may MP wore it as a huge star.

Are those pearls Archduchess Helena is wearing? They are so huge, it almost looks like they're beads of some sort. Wonderful.

Yesterday (4th September) Elizabeth II, The DoE, The Prince Charles and Princess Anne attended The 2010 Braemar Highland Games in Braemar, Scotland.

HM wore this simple golden feather brooch:

While The Princess Royal opted for her usual star brooch, a pair of pearl earrings and two pearl rows:

Time for some glitter! The Grand Duke and Duchess of Luxembourg, Henri and Maria Teresa, are on a three day state visit to Portugal (it's day 2 now). Last night thare was a state banquet and The Grand Duchess surprised us with her choice of tiara - for the first time she wore an emerald and diamond necklace/tiara fof GDss Joséphine-Charlotte. HRH also wore Queen Astrid's choker and brooch, a pair of earrings with emeralds and diamonds and a bracelet.
HRH The Duchess of Braganza was also presented at the banquet, but sadly didn't wear any big jewellery.

She is the cutest girl! However, much as I like the color of the dress she wore to the banquet, don't emeralds seem like not the best choice with it? If I had them in my, ahem, jewel closet, I would've worn sapphires or diamonds with that luscious pink.

New feather brooch on QEII? I like it, modern-ish. Saw a magnificent silver feather barrette like that once on a Ute woman at my niece's graduation in Colorado, obviously handmade. Envied it ever since.

OOhh, Laurie! So nice to see your reply. I had the impression that this thread was becoming dormant. Lets hope others would re-join soon.

Now on-topick - The emerald weren't the best choice with that dress, you're right. But isn't the dress' colour very dark orange, nearly red, rather than luscious pink? I'd say that the Poruguese First Lady's dress is in luscious pink. Here's another photo: http://www.presidencia.pt/archive/img/100907-LFC-0873.jpg

And another example of a royal lady (Queen Silvia) wearing emerald jewellery with an orange dress (albeit without much success again):

And as you suggested - pink dress with sapphire jewels, again by Queen Silvia:

You're right, Bobby, orange! Must be the reflection from the pink next to her, but in the 2nd photo it looked kind of a burnt pink. Still not crazy about emeralds with it but the important point is it makes her happy.

I'm glad to see you guys here too! Wondered if nobody was ever gonna write here again.

Josefine, thanks for the pics -- from the sketch, I would never have tried those earrings on but they look great on P. Victoria. And I always love the way those Scandinavian royals wear tiaras & incorporate jewelry into their hair. So stylish.
