Royal Jewels

Okay, do you want to laugh at me now or later?

Here's a few thoughts that have crossed my mind for a couple of weeks. Remember when Maxima and Willelm-Alexander got married and there was a tiara designing contest for her? And the wining tiara was...well, I'll let you decide...

So what if, by chance, there was to be a tiara designing contest for the future Princess William? Sure we Pricescope Junkies can come up with a better design than that monstrosity for Maxima.

I've been working on my entry for over a week (this is where you may laugh at me). :rodent:

I put a heart in the center since they seem to be very much in love, and the rest is based on intertwined "W" and "C." The "C" is laying across the "W." There are two of these motiff's on either side of the heart. I got this idea from a bracelet I saw of Queen Elizabeth's that was designed by Prince Phillip that had "E" blended with "P."

So, if you were to design a tiara for Catherine, what would yours look like?

That's awesome, LadyMaria :appl:

Was this helmet really the winner? I'm very surprised to see that the Dutch people chose it... Do you have photos (or a link) to the other options?

About your design - it' very pretty! Has a personal touch with the W & C (though some of the Cs look like G) and looks better than the tiaras designed for the groom's grandmother Elizabeth II. Love that you faceted the diamonds.

You should contact Cartier, Boucheron or another jewellery house and apply for a job in their tiara department;)

Tataa! Congratulations to Zara Philips and Mike Tindell who got engaged today! And this is Zara diamond engagement ring: article-1340474-0C8E4337000005DC-525_634x340.jpg

Another royal wedding on the horizon, folks! The engagement of The Princess Royal & Captain Mark Phillips' daughter Zara and her long-term boyfriend Mike Tindall was announced earlier today. Mr Tindall had proposed last night.

Congratulations to the Happy couple!

I beat you by 4 minutes, Bobby! But you were more complete by posting the other picture as well.
It's a great ring, imo. The style is timeless, but not boring, the diamond has a decent size without being too extravagent for a horsewomen like Zara.
And now we can speculate about her wedding tiara. Will it be something from her mother like the Greek key or the festoon tiara? Or will she borrow something from Granny? Ha, next year will be very interesting in terms of wedding tiaras!

Hehe, this time you beat me! So much for cross posting.

I'd like to see the Princess Royal's festoon tiara as it's larger. But by using the Greek Key Zara will honour her family history, especially her Greek great-grandparents.

I was searching for something in Nedelfoffer's Cartier and found this interesting information on page 322 (in the 2007 edition):

In 1921 we find an important pair of earrings - part of the historic Leuchtenberg emeralds - at Cartier New York. They comprised two emerald drops, each framed in ten diamonds and each fitted to a hexogral emerald and thirteen diamonds. The complete set of jewels had belonged to the Beauharnais family before it passed to the Russian duchal family of Leuchtenberg; from them it was bought by a Paris syndicate to which Cartier's belonged. Except for the earrings, the jewels were broken in Paris, despite a subscriptation organized by the Louvre to prevent this. The following year Cartier's took the earrings to Spain to show to the Queen and Queen Mother. However, this did not lead to a sale at the time because, as the salesman Ferines reported back to Paris, the Queen Mother merely "pouted significantly".

I suppose these are the earrings and the rest of the jewels:

Empress Josefine:

Her daughter Hortense Bonaparte, Queen of the Netherlands:

Are there any photos of either of the Duchesses of Leuchtenberg wearing them?

On the same page the 20ct "Cambridge" diamond, named after Lady Mary Cambridge (a great niece of Queen Mary and second cousin to The Queen) is mentioned. Does anyone have an idea how it looked or what happened to it?

Handsome, authentic couple. Love it.

This, however, as I've said before, I don't understand:

"Any money from a magazine might be welcomed by Zara. Her mother Princess Anne declined a royal title on her behalf, so she has never been entitled to any money from the Civil List."

In plain English, I think it's ironic and unfair that Princess Anne is dripping in titles and her daughter has none.

Can some translate the above into something mere mortals can understand? Was she pouting because she wanted them and couldn't have them, or was she pouting because they weren't exactly what she wanted? I don't get it.

Does anyone know what ct size zara phillips' ring is? I think it's gorgeous and a fantastic size. :D

Now that's a ring that looks like something that mortals can wear. Congrats to them both. I bet the Queen is feeling super old these days with her grandchildren getting married and having babies. I think she just had her first great-grandchild (Zara's brother Peter and his wife Autumn). Zara is so radiant and happy looking. She's lovely

Lady Maria, you're not the only one to wear a tiara while doing housework - take a look at the Danish Crown Princely family's new photos for the German Vogue and you'll see TRH in front of many packing boxes. I suppose the boxes were used during the family's move to their new Copenhagen home.

God! They started wearing fake jewels at white-tie events... At least The Queen wore some real jewels (a photo would be very much appreciated, Josefine).

Thanks for the great photos, Josefine! I always enjoy your photo archive :)

is this the same brosch princess christina of sweden wears now a todays

I don't think this is the same brooch. There are too diferent in desing. Princess Christina's diamond flower brooch came from her mother Princess Sibylla.
I've seen Pss Birgita's brooch worn by her sister Margaretha, I believe at the time of the announcement of her engagement to MR. John Ambler.

trhe brosch on queen louise has been seen on several royal ladies in sweden
how about the necklace, can thisbe oneof the neckleces worn by silvia now`?

Indeed HM's wearing a large diamond brooch, frequently worn by the Swedish royals today:
Her necklace looks like this one:

The Crown Princess wore the same dress at the party for The Prince of Orange's 40th birthday in 2007. Was she pregnant then? No.
Lets not push her and just give them some time. I'm sure that in due time ther'll be an announcement from the palace.

Is it just me, or does the HM look more and more radiant lately? I love the purple on her, very lovely, and regal. Thanks for the pic.

Thanks Bobby,
I just know that they said they wanted to get started on a family right away, so I'm waiting impatiently.
