Royal Jewels

I've been out of state visiting the in-laws for Christmas and we've been so busy I haven't had a chance to get online to see what is happening with Royal Jewels! I like the lists of new jewels that came out in 2010.

So here's my question: the news of CP Letizia's new tiara was on the list. What is the best guess for the first appearance of said tiara? I doubt William and Catherine's wedding will be a tiara event. I also doubt Albert and Charlene's will be a tiara event. So when is the next best time for that new jewel to make an apperance??

HM, Queen Elizabeth II just became a great-grandmother for the first time!! Her grandson Peter Phillips and his wife Autumn had a baby girl. Congratulations to HM, Prince Phillip, Princess Anne, Captain Phillips, and the new parents, and to Zara, who is an aunt for the first time.

The Queen must be over the moon. Princess Anne too.

Thanks for the website Bobby. BTW, I found this photo of the Queen and Prince Charles there. It is such a lovely candid shot of them laughing together, and nowadays, HM seems to really let loose with her vivacious smile and this photo is evident of it. I would love to know what they're joking about.

I always wonder that, TL, when seeing pics like that. Love to see them enjoying each other; there have been times when I'm sure they didn't! As all mothers & offspring. I notice Charles knows how to sit correctly in a kilt. Reminds me of a visit we made to the Isle of Skye. Sitting by the big stone fireplace in the cozy lounge area of the inn we where we stayed, on a couch opposite us, was a man in a kilt, reading the newspaper. All the family jewels were on display as he sat as he would have in trousers. Ahem, gulp, hard to know where to look. It was so blatant & the Scots are such tricksters I've always wondered if he didn't do it on purpose to discombobulate the tourists.

Well, this is a thread about jewels, after all!

We should be getting some good glitters from Denmark tonight...their annual New Year's Eve ball, right? I would start another guessing game like we did for the Nobel Prizes, but there isn't that much to guess. The Crown Prince Couple probably won't be there since Mary is due any day now. Princess Marie only has her wedding tiara. That really only leaves Queen Margarethe.

I'll still enjoy any pictures anyone has! Heck, maybe I'll throw on one of my tiaras and join the party!

Speaking of parties, if you need a good dose of tiaras and bling go to pages 34-35 of this thread...

While on our trip last week, I came across a USA Today commemortive magazine on William and Catherine. It had this picture of Camilla. I'm wondering about the turquoise necklace she's wearing...I'm wondering if maybe it is part of Princess Margaret's turquoise parure? My gut reaction is no, but I'm more familiar with the tiara of that set than the necklace.

I will also say that USA Today should have contacted all of us Pricescope Royal Jewels Junkies to get some of their facts straight. The most glaring mistakes were asking "Will Wills and Kate get married 20 years to the day after Charles and Diana?" (this magazine was obviously published before the April 29 date was announced) Um, no, they won't because that would mean they got married the year they met.

The other glaring mistake was "William gave Kate his mother's ruby and diamond encrusted engagement ring." I think they got Diana's and Sarah Ferguson's rings mixed up.

The most surprising comment I read was "Critics have called Kate's style too modest for her age." I completely disagree...I think her style choices have been great and I still can't get over the blue dress from the engagement. Besides, since when is modesty is a bad thing? I'd rather have my daughter dress like Kate Middleton than say, Katy Perry.

The funniest bit I read was this..."But compared to his father- who had a full-time valet at age 2 and who still has his toothpaste squeezed onto the brush for him- William leads an unpampered life. Jousting with his fussy father, he has been heard to tell the next king, 'Get a life.'"

when I remeber right it was a gift from the PoW. and it was the former property of Alice Keppel (her great grand mother)
the PoW bought some of her jewels to give them to the DoC during the years

this is right. but I think the story behind the owner or wearer is interessting. in former times such events were also marked with pieces of jewellery.
f.e. a braclet set with stones which first letter goes with the first letters of children and so on

and this stories tell also some fact which are nice / or new to hear.
and we should not forget that most of the last mention pieces are still worn and not dusting behind glas in some museums or behind steel in some strong rooms of the "novelle rich"....

We will have to wait another day for the gala in Denmark which is on New Year's Day and not tonight.
But I love that guessing game! You are right, Marie's tiara needs no guessing. Mary would also be easy because she always wears her ruby parure for this event (but as you said it is unlikely that she attends so shortly before giving birth). Queen Margrethe wore the pearl poire tiara at least two years in a row, so it's time for something else, imo. So I think she will wear her floral hairpieces. Btw, I would simple love to see it in it's tiara shape once again!

You're right Cordata, the Pearl Poire tiara has worked hard already...she also wore that to the Swedish Royal Wedding, didn't she? I'd like to see Queen Margarethe wear the Baden Palmette tiara. Do you think Princess Benedickte will be there? If so, what would she wear? Maybe the SWB fringe?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! I'm looking forward to lots of glittering jewels in 2011!

Okay my fellow Royal Jewels Junkies...who can be the first to find a GLARING mistake at this link (look through each slide)??? I mean seriously, did Hello Magazine do ANY fact-checking on this??

Oh dear, they labeled the Vladimir tiara as the Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara... Ok, both have pearl drops, but that mistake was quite avoidable!

A Happy New Year to everybody!

I don't think that Princess Benedikte usually attends the New Years Court, but it would be nice if she would attend this year.
You are right, Queen Margrethe wore the pearls in Sweden last year. She also wore the palmette tiara at a SV from Russia. At her birthday festivities she wore the floral aigrette, the pearl parure and the emerald parure. And than she wore the floral aigrette at a court ball in January.

Hope you all don't mind me posting a photo of the beautiful and pregnant Princess Mary taken from German Vogue. There are other photos with her family but this is the best with the bling!

In my eyes she is proof that fairytales do happen.

Slide 2 looks like the Grand Duchess Vladimir tiara, not the Cambridge Lovers Knot. Well, to be fair, they both have pearl drops. But, even DH could spot the difference when I showed him the photos in my Field guide. :wink2:

ETA-Oops, I see Cordata already answered. Well, Happy New Year everyone!!! :wavey:

You win Cordata! :D

I already posted on a comment to Hello! informing them as politely yet pointedly as I could that this was a ridiculous mistake for them to make and even an amateur follower of royal jewels is going to pick up on this serious error.

I haven't heard back yet...nor has it been fixed...

Thanks Fly Girl! The fact that your DH picked up on this just further proves my point!

Good grief, what will be next from Hello? Will they mislabel a picture of Peter Phillips new baby with Lady Louise or something?

Thank you! It was easy enough to spot, almost everybody else on this forum would have noticed too. I think that I just was the first to read your post!

While speaking about the blunders of journalists, you might want to check out this picture galery of the Portuguese tabloid CARAS: http://aeiou.caras.pt/fotogaleria-as-tiaras-das-rainhas-e-princesas=f27800
Have fun and don't let it spoil your day!!!

Whoa, someone needs to tell them that you don't publish fake pictures!

That picture of Camilla one that we already discussed that it had been photoshopped? The one of Camilla with the Cambirdge? The one of Camilla with the fringe is also photoshopped...she wore the Honeycomb with that dress.

There are also pictures of CP Mette-Merit that look photoshopped (#81 and #84)

I also question the picture of Princess Martha Louise in the (albiet hideous) ruby and gold tiara in #86.

AACCHH!! #88 is NOT CP Masako! Don't they know she doesn't do state occasions? That is Princess Kiko!

Picture #96 of CP Mary...she doesn't own an emerald tiara.

Did I get them all??

Totally gross! There's enough gorgeous bling without making stuff up. Disgusting.

I haven't seen any still pictures yet, but I did find this video of the royals arriving at the New Year Banquet in Denmark.

http://nyhederne.tv2.dk/video/index/id/36210618/

Princess Marie is wearing her wedding tiara.

Queen Margarethe is wearing the same outfit she wore for her 70th birthday party...the bright green ball gown and the emerald parure.

As reported, CP Fredrick arrived alone.

#87 of Märtha Louise with the diamond tiara is also photoshopped.
But the magazine of course didn't photoshop the pics themselves. I think most are from the photo-shopping thread of The Royal Forums. Those journalists just surfed the net and took some pictures without even checking the origin (and the copy-right).

I think that the Queen looks lovely in this outfit. But three times the same dress in one year is a bit too much, imo.

Happy New Year to everyone!!! Hope 2011 will give us plenty of glittering (and happy) events with sparkling jewels to talk about.

As Alexander already said, this necklace comes from Alice Keppel's collection, though I'm not sure if it's ever left Camilla's family. The Duchess of Cornwall has worn it several times since her second marriage.
Here you can see the necklace better - http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/52102297/Tim-Graham-Photo-Library

And here's Princess Margaret with the (much simpler) necklace from her turquoise parure:

It's the first outing of the green gown for 2011, Cordata, though I agree that something else/new would've been better.

Here are two of the PPE photos

The Queen with the emerald parure:

Princess Marie with the floral tiara are earrings which I don't recognize:

Here are more photos from tonight - http://www.berlingske.dk/billeder/de-lange-kjolers-aften
There are going to be more New Year galas in the days to come.
