David and Samantha Cameron are on a state visit to the US. I think SamCam's dress is hideous...the material says my grandma's curtains, and the bow says schoolmarm. I don't mind Michelle Obama's dress, but then she had to ruin it with her usual clutter of junk around her neck.

Thanks for posting photos from the sevice on Commonwealth Day, Laurie.
I have to say, though, that these are not the earrings from the ladies of Devonshire (aka the Devon earrings). They are reserved for more special events, like the wedding of Peter Phillips and the Garter service. Oddly enough, however, they didn't make an outing at William's wedding last year.

Here is an image of The Queen wearing the aquamarine clips, taken after the delivery of the Commonwealth Day Message

It's an official visit, Maria. State visits are only payed by one Head of State to another (f.e. Obama and Gül's visits to Britain last year).

I know this is off-topick, but here's a link to a DM article with lots of photos from the arrival. I als like the First Lady's dress, and also the earrings ;)

A few days ago, Queen Beatrix attended a concert at the Concerthuis in Amsterdam. Her Majesty wore her modern sapphire and diamond necklace with the matching earrings, a modern sapphire and diamond bracelet, the honeycomb bracelet and her large spray brooch in sapphires and diamonds. The Queen also wore a large sapphire ring (not pictured).
I've always thought that the necklace needs a pear-shaped pendant? Don't yoy think so?

This night the Swedish royal family hosted the second of this year's Representation dinners. The royal family was represented by The King & The Queen, Princess Madeleine and Prince Daniel.
The Queen wore (for yet another time) Queen Sofia's diamond tiara, Queen Victoria's collet necklace and the Vasa earrings for a change:

Princess Madeleine wore her mother's diamond tiara, theearrings and smaller brooch from the amethyst parure, also a diamond bracelet:
120315_038.jpg120315_036.jpg

I can't understand the Swedish royal ladies... A couple of years ago they were always with brillian coifures, but now only the Crown Princess makes some efforts to look right with a tiara. Even Queen Silvia - a lady known for her elaborate hair dos - looks as though she puts on a tiara in the last minute (the last Nobels being an exception). HM doesn't even show imagination and creativity with her jewels and rarely wears sth other than the Nine prong tiara and the sapphires from the foundation. I do hope this will change, espectially if reports are true that Queen Sofia's pink tourmaline parure is back with the SRF ;)

Bobby

Definitely the Queen's tiara looks like she slapped it on at the last minute. Maybe she was playing with the new baby too late? Madeleine looks a little better but you can see the base of her tiara -- a faux pas of the ickiest degree imo. However, her bright smile adds sparkle.

I love Queen Beatrix's necklace as it is, Bobby. An elegant combination of complexity & simplicity at once. The sapphires look like a terrific color too -- that family has a rare eye for jewels. It's so much fun to imagine them going into the foundation vault before an event & chattering about who is going to wear what. To them it's probably no more thrilling than for me to put on my grandmother's fake pearl necklace, but one can imagine with a wistful sigh....

Hmm...I could go either way on this necklace. I think it looks good as is, but could also look good with some obvious central element.

I really like the amethyst earrings with the dress on Princess Madeleine!

The Duchess of Cambridge was out for Saint Patrick's Day, and she wore the Queen Mother's shamrock brooch. I love the dress!

I'll bet the Queen Mum is delighted to have her wear her brooch. Kate is into a 40s mode lately, isn't she?

Does anyone have a closeup of the cartier shamrock broach worn by Katherine, DofC? Does it have jewels or is it just gold?

No jewels, only gold.

It's mostly gold, but I'm pretty sure there is a small green stone in the middle. Another view below.

Sadly, yes! Isn't funny that SamCam is touted as a style icon? A pity she dresses like this because she could be quite attractive in decent clothes.
Fortunately the Queen and DOC are here the rescue of British fashion honour.

Agree with you about that dress. The ruffle at the hem makes it remind me of the skirt on my bed when I was a little kid. Looks like a leftover from San Francisco of the 60s. I think Michelle's outfit is equally awful, fits poorly, makes her chest look flat, the necklace is plain ugly, and she doesn't stand up straight. Next time I'll tell you how I really feel! :D

LadyM - I read that Max's set is a modern *diamond* design.

very nice set. but then I tend to like all CPM jewelry.

Speculation is that necklace & earrings were gifts from her recent Middle Eastern trip.

I't was not just a concert, but a concert of the Dutch Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest at the Salle Pleyel in Paris.
Princess Maxima's set of necklace and earrings are of modern design and are most likely a preset from of the Arab countries that HRH visited with The Queen earlier this year.
PPE Agency has these two close-ups of the jewels:

Yes,there is a small light green stone set in this shamrock brooch. It was even more visible in a close up that I posted a while ago. BTW, I've read (and tend to agree) that the brooches are not the property of an individual (Queen Elizabeth, f.e.), but are owned by the regiment and it is the regiment that loans them to the various royal ladies that attend events connected to the regiments. Thus, HRH the Princess Royal has also worn the brooch. It's just because this brooch was made during the time when the Queen Mother presented the Irish Guareds with Shamrock that the brooch is mostly associated with her.
I'm sure that Her late Majesty is pleased to see Willam's bride taking over this engagement of hers ;)

Charles and Camilla began their Scandinavian tour in Norway. Have we seen Camilla in this turquoise set previously?

Moving on to continental Europe and more glitter...

Today TRH the Prince of Wales & the Duchess of Cornwall started their official visit to Norway, as part of a tour of the Scandinavian monarchies. This visit marks the start of the overseas tour by TRH for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. After Norway come visits to Sweden and Denmark.

At the welcoming ceremony today the Duchess of Corwall wore a most fitting jewel - a diamond brooch with three cab sapphires. The brooch - a present to Queen Victoria for her Diamond Jubilee from her Hessen grand children and their spouses - was first seen on HRH in the early days of her marriage.

Photo (its a very nice hat that the Duchess' wearing):

Later on, HRH visited the Nobel Peace Centre, where she debuted a new four row pearl choker with large diamond clasp; Camilla alsowore her traditioanl pearl and diamond earrings:

You beat me to it, BB!
Yes, we've seen these turquoises of HRH before. Actually, HRH has worn them since before her second wedding in 2005.
BTW, I'm very fond of the necklace for it's unique design ;)

The banquet in Osla was also attende by the Queen, the Crown Princess, Princess Martha-Louise and Princess Astrid. HM wore her modern emerald set, an Art Deco brooch and a new (to me at least) dress; the CPss wore her long pearl an diamond earrings; Princess Martha-Louise wore large diamond earrings and Princess Astrid was in pearls (and some coloured stones)
Some photos are to be seen here:

Also today Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands started her State Visit to Luxembourg, once the realm of her great-grand father, William III. Beatrix van Orange-Nassau was welcomed by Henri de Nassau, his wife and their eldest son.
The Dutch Queen wore one of her fav. pearl sets: http://www.ppe-agency.com/500px/Mar2012/PPE12032018.jpg
Later HM changed into one of her best outfits and wore Queen Juliana's diamond roses - as 3 broochas and a pair of earrings - at la Chambre de commerce: http://www.ppe-agency.com/500px/Mar2012/PPE12032066.jpg

The Grand Duchess wore simple pearl earings and gold bangle: http://www.ppe-agency.com/500px/Mar2012/PPE12032097.jpg

In the evening the Grand Ducal couple hosted a banquet in honour of dear Beatrix.
Her Royal Highness wore the diamond leaf tiara, pearl and diamond earrings, Princess Ingebord's pearl and diamond brooch (a firm fav of both moi and Maria Teresa) and diamond bracelet:
http://www.ppe-agency.com/500px/Mar2012/PPE120320118.jpg

Her Majesty wore one of her favourite combinations - Queen Emma's floral tiara, Queen Wilhelmina's large diamond earrings and a diamond riviere. HM also wore the small floral frooch and two diamond bracletes:
http://www.ppe-agency.com/500px/Mar2012/PPE120320114.jpg
http://www.ppe-agency.com/500px/Mar2012/PPE120320116.jpg

I can say that I'm happy - I've always liked these jewels and I can say that this is my fav appearance of Maria Teresa so far (the other one being at Victoria's wedding). I love all the sparkle from the two dresses (I'd assume that MT's is Elie Saab), though I wish Beatrix''s was more low cut. I also wish more members of the GD family (female) were present as well for the sake of glitter ;)
For those interested, more photos from the banquet can be seen here: http://www.ppe-agency.com/show.php?zoektype=2&search=20-03-2012 Gala

Thank you for all the glittery photos! So far the diamond jubilee is fulfilling hopes of a year of bling. And Beatrix's self & family are always a welcome jewel sight.

I LOVE Maria-Theresa's tiara & she did her hair perfectly for it. I feel so sad for Beatrix, who seems to have aged 10 years since Friso's accident. What mother wouldn't? But she puts on her game face & her beautiful jewels with courage.

Is Camilla's turquoise set, then, hers? Maybe a gift from her 1st husband? I can't figure why she chose to wear it with purple. Can't say the cab brooch does much for me -- a bit too Victorian for my taste. The choker is nice -- looks vintage, from the clasp. No more info about it?

I ADORE Mette-Marit's earrings, oh droooool!

I too am a sucker for sparkly dresses, Bobby. Nothing classes up an evening like them, unless it's tons of gems.

While reading a recent article on the Russian royal jewels, I am now curious to know more about them. I realize many were sold by the Bolshivek's, some are in museums, Queen Mary bought some, etc. But I am really interested in the history of them and if any of them are with current royal families, how many are now "unknown" for location, etc. Thanks so much and I look forward to some wonderful drooly photos !
