Gosh, the smoking picture of Queen Margrethe is just so unpleasant. I've always wondered why her teeth are so yellow, especially for a person of her stature and beauty. Anyhow, I love the flower wrap around tiara she's wearing.

Por1991, can you tell us about the Thai jewels? I'm breathless! WHERE do they all come from? Many look like late-19th, early-20th century -- are they handed down? The vastness of the collection is indescribable; I never realized how MUCH they have. Impossible to pick a favorite, but that huge round diamond brooch knocks me out, and Queen Sirikit's pearls. And the emeralds, and the belts, and....and...and... Would LOVE more info!

I LOVE the pic of Daisy lighting her butt! Good old girl, she just is who she is, like it or lump it. PC be damned. A woman after my own heart.

Hi! Loooonnnnnnggg time post stalker, first time poster, mostly because I've not had anything to add. However I did have a question after something I found last night doing research for a fiction novel I'm writing.

I found this tiara:
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mZjHaum7_G8/T0F_BUhbLrI/AAAAAAAACC0/ah8tiQ2_zhY/s1600/walnut+acorn+diamond+tiara+crown+diadem.JPG

more specifically on this blog (it's a little ways down):
http://maries-jewels-royals.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

The blog gives zero information on the tiara and I was wondering if anyone had seen this one before and maybe knew who the owner was by some slim chance. I'm not sure if I stumbled upon the link here or if it was something I found while I was gawking at the Strathmore Tiara again, but I thought if anyone would know it would be Bobby.

Bobby -- where are you? I've been missing you -- we all have! I hope you haven't left us forever!

Teriann, I couldn't turn up anything on that tiara, though I found 2 similar ones; oak leaves were a popular design for tiaras in the mid-1800s to about 1900. It's nice. Have you tried emailing the owner of the blog? Maybe she can give you info -- if so, please post it here. I'm curious.

AHAH!

"A tiara of oak leaves, acorns and hollow acorn cups designed in the manner of Ancient Greek jewellry, set with a profusion of brilliant-and rose-cut diamonds. Made by Garrard after the neo-classical fashion of the early 19th century for the 15th Duke of Norfolk to give to his bride, Gwendolen Constable Maxwell, on the occasion of their marriage in 1904. "

So far the one link is the only one I can find with the picture and the tiara in the same posting. It's not that I doubt the person is right, but the researcher in me wants to fact check it before I know it's true.

Welcome to Pricescope, Teriann! I hope you'll become one of our regular posters.

Re the tiara - There's a thread named Tiaras here on Pricescope. Since the jewel in question is not a royal piece, you'll find my ansewer there.

PS: Thanks for believing that I can help you with your enquiry.

Princess Galyani Vadhana

Sapphire necklace

diamond necklace --- diamond brooch

Now that the Princess has died (some 4 years ago, actially), I wonder what happened to her jewels. One would assume that they are with her descendants. Her emerald are lovely and I love the impressive diamond brooch (and that huge central stone!).

The late Princess had some very beautiful and valuable jewels... I fell in love with her emerald and diamond jewels the moment I first saw them (in HQ photos). Ivy isn't often seen in fine jewellery, is it? I also like the group of bracelets and jewelled watch
Did the modern ruby and diamond jewels also belong to Princess Bejaratana?

PS: Sine I wouldn't like to reply to every sinnge post of yours, I'd like to thank you for your contributions to the thread. Some of these jewels I've never seen before. I raelly like the rather modern set that Queen Sirikit is wearing in the photo with Jacques Chirac and the one bellow :)

I fond the answer of my own question about the modern ruby and diamodn jewels! Apparently they did belong to Princess Bejaratana (is this the correct style?) and were made with Siamese rubies. The rubies, along with HRH's other jewels, were part of an exhibition that marked her 80th birthday.

por1991, Thanks for posting these photos of the queen. I loooove the turban photo with the Jackie O. sunglasses and scarf. Tres chic!

Today HE the President of the Republic of Turkey arrived in Amsterdam for a three day State Visit the the Kingdom of the Netherlnds. President Gül is accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Hayrünnisa Gül. The State Visit marks 400 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Today the Queen, President & Mrs. Gül, the Prince of Orange & Princess Máxima visited the exhibition ''The chamber of Levantine trade'' at the Amsterdam museum. The exhibition shows the early Dutch-Turkish trade history. At the event HRH Princess Máxima wore the diamond earrings and bracelet that she wore at her 2002 wedding and also her new diamond watch.
The earrings - http://www.picturedesk.com/bild-dis...ef=78187378-EGWAASGWPOWPROCGORRTPRWSWE&w=true
I think HRH's outfit was very appropriate for the event. I really like it - http://www.picturedesk.com/bild-dis...ref=78187858-EGWAASGWPOWPROCGWHAOHHPSR&w=true

In the evening Her Majesty hosted a banquet in honour of her Turkish guests. In fact, this is the first banquet hosted in the renovated Royal Palace in Amsterdam.
At the gala Queen Beatrix wore the pearl button tiara, the large pearl necklace, small pearl drop earrings and a pear-shaped pearl hung on the small diamond bow; the horrible dress is a repeat - http://www.ppe-agency.com/500px/Apr2012/PPE12041764.jpg
Princess Máxima wore the family's diamond bandeau, two of Queen Emma's diamond stars and her own black pearl and diamond earrings - http://www.ppe-agency.com/500px/Apr2012/PPE12041765.jpg
I wish HRH had switched her earrings today... Also the hair doesn't do much justice to the valuable bandeau and the Princess' overall appearance. But that's just my humble opinion.
It's hard to tell, but it seems that Princess Margriet is wearing the aquamarine tiara and the matching earrings: http://www.ppe-agency.com/500px/Apr2012/PPE12041766.jpg

Today another State Visit - this time the first State Visit of the new President of Finland, which traditionally is to Sweden. The new Finish President - Mr Sauli Niinistö - and his wife Jenni Haukio (for some reason she is not Mrs Niinistö) were welcomed at the airport by HRH Prince Daniel and then at the Royal Palace by TM the King & the Queen. Unexpectedly, HRH The Crown Princess was also in attendance.
At the welcoming ceremony HM wore Queen Victoria (of Swden)'s large pearl necklace, her modern barbrooch and new coral (and ruby?) earrings:

http://www.picturedesk.com/bild-dis...ef=78185707-EGWAASGWPOWPROCGORAOPWPOCP&w=true

The Crown Princess wore her own pearl drop earrings, a fine chain and her modern diamond bracelet. You'll also notice a small blue pin on HRH's left - this is her miniature of the Order of the White Rose of Finland:

At the banquet in the evening Queen Silvia was the only female meber of the family present. Not even Princess Christina was there.
Unfortunately, Her Majesty did not surprise us with her jewels for the evening - Queen Sofia's diamond tiara, Queen Victoria's diamond collet necklace and the smaller pair of pearl drop earrings. If you look closely below the central stone in the riviere, you'll notice the small hook that is used to hang pendants ;)
http://kuvakauppa.lehtikuva.fi/edoris?tem=dorismark&doc_id=7aa7d226672544106bb66a041b1eb6bc

The bigger surprise for me was HM's gown - the top is actually an old favourite of the Queen. In the past HM used to wear it with green skirts, but now opted for white, and I must say that I'm quite pleased with the outcome :)
http://kuvakauppa.lehtikuva.fi/edoris?tem=dorismark&doc_id=7aa7d2266725441273e42168a0872fe8
I just wish Queen Silvia wore emeralds with it, just like she did in London, Moscow and Stockholm (when she wore the same top).

More photos from the banquet can be seen here: http://kuvakauppa.lehtikuva.fi/edor...=1&id=7aa7d5206227416467fc19fd66b41a9c&menu=1
