Royal Jewels

Princess Anne's children are not entitled to be prince and princess, as they are born of a female offspring of a reigning monach and not a male one, again, according to Wiki.

However I could be wrong.

I believe you are wrong. The Princess Royal did not want even her first husband to be given a title, which was how these matters (a female child of the monarch marrying a non-royal and, therefore, presumably providing the sovereign with grandchildren) were handled previously. I believe that Princess Margaret's divorce was probably still fresh enough to remind her of how awkward it was to have a Royal Princess' ex-husband be granted a title upon his marriage only to have him divorce the Royal Princess and wander around remarrying and bestowing his title on other ladies!

Anne avoided all that by not giving her husband or their children titles. They could have had them. The Queen would have done the honors if Anne had not said she wished otherwise.

I got involved in reading the thread and forgot why I came here! Delphine Boël is in the news. Former King Albert II of Belgium has been ordered to take a paternity test. She has fought for this for a long time. It is, in the opinion of many people, sad because there is little doubt that he is her biological father, but he has refused to take the paternity test and while he was King, he could not be ordered to do so by the courts. In the meantime she proved that the man who had been her legal father for fifty years, Jacques Boël, and who is one of the wealthiest men in Belgium, appears to have been shunted aside. One has to ask: for what?

Love Princess Mary's gold and pearl bracelet but not a fan of the rings.

Ouch...? Since it says Meghan wanted to wear a specific tiara with emeralds, I wonder if it was the tiara Eugenie wore to her recent wedding. Hmmmm...
https://people.com/royals/queen-eli...-her-first-choice-for-a-wedding-tiara-report/

You are saying that the Queen felt Princess Eugenie's wedding was unimportant if you believe that she denied Meghan Markle the use of a tiara due to an uncertain provenance but allowed Eugenie to wear it. That sounds improbable to me. Something is off.

The article was unclear so I wonder if it was a different emerald tiara that Eugenie wore. Since she is royal by birth, would she have access to different tiaras than Megan?

Nope- just wondering if Meghan wanted to wear the one Eugenie had already picked out for her own wedding.. Perhaps the Queen knew that one was spoken for.

there's probably more than one with emeralds....i'm sure the UK crown has lots of jewels with problematic origins that can't be seen in public.

Another fab brooch!

No. The only tiaras to which Eugenie would have access that Meghan would not would be tiaras that were in her mother's family. For example, Zara Phillips was offered a tiara that her mother, The Princess Royal, wore. Eugenie would have the right, if their mother wanted to grant it, to borrow a tiara from Sarah, the Duchess of York that Meghan would have no right to borrow, though. Unfortunately for Eugenie, her mother does not have the jewels that Anne does. Therefore she is limited to borrowing from her grandmother, the Queen!

The red poppies are for Armistice Day. November 11, 2018 marked the 100th anniversary of The Armistice that ended World War I. The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

Catherine is beautiful but does anyone think she looks exhausted lately? I’m sure having 3 young children will be playing a part but she doesn’t look herself.

I agree, I was just looking at the photos for Prince Charles’s 70th and she looks older than Meghan, although I believe she is a bit younger! She’s had quite a few events to attend lately and I’m sure she’s a hands-on Mum despite the help she must have.

Parties bring out the jewels...
