The Countess of Wessex and her "odd for a royal" clutch; the clutch was embroidered with a statement that read: "I am not saying I am wonderwoman. I'm just saying that no one has ever seen me and wonderwoman in the same place."

I had hope for the Earl of Wessex to be granted the title of DoE now that Charles is king, perhaps it will happen soon.

None of the female grandchildren at the vigil wore a brooch, hopefully the tradition will continue.

The vigil is not the right time to wear jewels, flashy or not. Keeping their jewels minimal was right, imo.
As for brooches, I'm confident that they will survive and be worn at appropriate events.

And while of the vigil and Wessex topic, I found Lady Louise's equestrian pendant a touching and fitting tribute to late grandmother.

The last pic caught my eye, or rather Sophie's brooch, so I did a little digging. It's from the 2002 Christmas service at Sandringham. The brooch looks like a diamond and enamel monogram of sorts. Any thought? Maybe something from QEQM?

ive never noticed it before
its a nice pop of colour
i hope all the royal ladies up their brooch game moving forward as an ongoing tribute to HM

is that a diamond ?

Louise and James i feel the most sad for as they are the youngest of the grandchildren and James is only 14 so they will miss out on shearing life's milestomes with their grandparents
Sophie and Edward are to be comendered at the time they took so their children spent as much timeas possible with their grandparents in a time when a lot of people and their nucular family are often too busy

im sure it will happen
I dont see the King going aganist the wishes of his father or mother
i guess all in good time
perhaps in a years time at the service of thankgiving for the late Queen's life we will see all the granddaughter's in brooches of the Queen
although like you i hope to see them much sooner
i can still rememberr the earrings i wore to my dad's funeral and i wasnt really into jewlery aside from a bit of fun back then so i would think the pieces that we do see will be well thought out
My own grandma who died in 1982 was never without a brooch when she went out

why on earth did they go out of general usage for most of us ?
just imangine if the Queen had not loved them ?
what on earth would would you give a lady who had everything ?

of late my country has been gifting them donations to charity and protecting trees in their name - that is nice and trees are very pretty but a tree never goes out to lunch for us to oagle at

i would really love TRH to come visit us here in Wanganui as as a very young man Edward did a term here at Wanganui colledgeette
the blind foundation buildings are just down the road from work - Sophie could pop in for a cream donought after her visit

..from some random thing i googled
.....But there's one royal in particular who has gone beyond a fleeting visit – even calling NZ home. That's right, following Prince Edward's graduation from high school in 1982, the young prince took a gap year (or more accurately a six-month OE) in Whanganui in the North Island.
Edward spent two terms working as a house tutor and junior master at the Whanganui Collegiate School, even welcoming his older brother Prince Charles and sister-in-law Princess Diana when they visited Whanganui during their royal tour of New Zealand.

(btw i did spell my own town correctly before as the H in the Wh is optional for the city, but must go in for the river}

a reminder from Camilia that pearl's go with everything
from novemebr 2019 in NZ when life was still normal before covid
its a great honour to be given one of these clocks

Hmmmm, not sure.

I appreciate this was made for George IV, I have only ever seen pics of royal ladies wearing it, not even a painting of George IV wearing it.

HM QE II wore it often during her reign, and is featured on stamps and coins etc...

Not sure if it would look good on the king IMHO, personal opinion and all that.

DK :))

I do hope the queen will leave Sophie a tiara or two in addition to brooches.

You beat me to it, just seen this pic of the royal ladies and Prince George, and zoomed in to check if Charlotte was actually wearing a brooch, and she was!

The tradition of brooch wearing lives on, yay!
