Royal Jewels

Good point on Mathilde. You also bring to light an interesting conundrum....quite a few heirs are young (Netherlands, Belgium, Spain). I wonder who Luxumbourg will send since Stephanie just had a baby. Could see the Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish heirs though.

Still wish they would be in tiaras.

at least you will be in yours =)2
perhaps you have to have multible changes through the day to make up for all the hats in the Abby

i saw some of the inverstations from reins past
i like this the best because it has our silver fern on it (bottom row)

George iii and Queen Charlotte

_129286864_hi083616138.jpg

King Charles will be 74 when he is crowned on 6 May, but his invitation speaks to his progressive and green connection with the natural world.
His coronation invite was designed by Andrew Jamieson, a heraldic artist and manuscript illuminator whose work is inspired by the chivalric themes of Arthurian legend. Mr Jamieson is a Brother of the Art Workers' Guild, of which the King is an honorary member.
Reflecting the King's many years of environmental campaigning, the artwork for the coronation invitation uses the folklore figure of the "green man", with features made from ivy, hawthorn and oak leaves.
The original artwork for the invitation was hand-painted in watercolour and gouache.
In touch with the King's green credentials, the design will be reproduced and printed on recycled card, with gold foil detailing.
According to Buckingham Palace it is a symbol of spring and rebirth which celebrates a new reign.
The design also includes images of the natural world, including wildflowers, birds and insects native to the UK, as well as national and heraldic emblems.

i mean i love hats
but hats are for Asscot and wedding

You do you, but I lived in a hot sunny climate for decades and my sun hats were my lifeline. Also, I love a nice felt or wool in the cold to keep my ears warm. Basically, I just love hats - I'm old enough to have got new ones for Easter as a child! Plus the big brims in summer will help keep skin cancer at bay.

My daughter got a wonderful book when she was a child, William Steig's "When Everybody Wore a Hat", beautifully illustrated. It's a memoir of his childhood in New York City in the early decades of the 20th century. The sentence that stuck with me is "There was no such thing as a hatless human being."

the Queen mum wore some beautiful hats back in the 20's but i dont suit that clouch style so i go for low crown hats
in fact im hoping to ignore the thread title and post pictures of the royal hats at the corination

but i just was hoping for tiaras

Are we twins? I love a good cloche, especially on the Queen Mum, but on my face they just don't work. I know because I just bought one!:wall:

Royal Maundy Service at York Minister
The service dates back to 600AD and these special coins have kept much the same form since 1670. The first recorded Royal Distribution was at Knaresborough, North Yorkshire by King John in 1210.

'During the service, His Majesty will have presented 74 men and 74 women (signifying the age of the monarch) with the Maundy Money to thank them for their outstanding Christian service and for making a difference to the lives of people in their local communities. Recipients are selected from Church of England dioceses across the country, and Anglican and Ecumenical partners across the UK.
‘The King will present each recipient with two purses: one red and one white. The white purse will contain a set of specially minted silver Maundy coins equivalent in value to the age of the monarch. The red purse will contain two commemorative coins, symbolising the Sovereign's historic gift of food and clothing. This year, one will celebrate His Majesty’s forthcoming 75th birthday and the other will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Windrush Generation.'

Clearly Camilla likes to stack bracelets. And these pictures reminded me of the famed story regarding Charles buying her a bracelet with their pet names for each other, just before he married Diana. Do you think she still wears it? Has anyone seen it in her various stacks?

I hope she wears it
but carefully and in private
the gutter press would stir the same old sh*t up all over again for the thousandth millionth time

a blast from the past
i think this is Lady Di rather than Princess Diana
but i also think Charles gave her a car early on ?

I know it shouldn't and it isn't fair of me, but I must gripe! It annoys me that she wears little jewelry and it's always disappointing. We know you're rich, your family is rich, your clothes aren't cheap and you're going to be queen one day. Wear the wealth of your country, everyone wants to see it!

the thing is this stuff HRH wears from high street stores, the gutter press make a big deal about the whooping cost (and its at the very lower end of PS forum spending !)
they just have to google to get the cost
don't start me on the '$2 shop' type earrings* worn on occasions :angryfire:
wearing stuff from the vault would be much better IMHO !!!!!!!!!
i dont care about the clothes, high street is fine so long as it isnt fast fashion
but the Princess has sooooooooooo many coats

sometimes i dont mind faux jewlery, Princess Diana wore it but she also wore plenty of the real stuff so she got away with still looking classy

check out this article about the whooping price of William's watch (a gift from DI - so they cant win with the press)

Queen Cam wear's the Queen mum's rock crystal brooch and twenty thousand pounds is in the headline
also in that article is the tiny little topaz thingy HM wears
so they just cant win
Queen Camilla wore her Philip Treacy hat and a Kiki McDonough "Apollo" mini blue topaz and diamond pendant in yellow gold.
The latter costs a whopping £2,300 and has the following description: "An exquisite 18ct Yellow Gold and Diamond intricate circle pendant encasing a beautiful Blue Topaz stone.

i personally think its the hight of bad manners to talk about the coast of someone's jewlery

personally i dont think i have ever used the word whopping ever in my entire life

at least Queen Cam has a brooch on
i wouldnt mid the PoW's earring so much if there was simply more jewlery
Princess Catherine has no brooch and no necklace, and no pearls :(2
its just sad sad sad, like a hot cross bun with no fruit or spice
just a waste of real estate -look at that neck and that jacket :(2

That's the thing! Who cares what the rags say? Where is their pride? They are to be worn to show England their jewels(because many are commonwealth, not private) and shows the might and wealth of the country. It's assinine the have a problem having their figureheads wear England's jewels as opposed to having them molder somewhere. It's one of the primary functions of having them in the first place.

new(ish) coach for the King and Queen to get to the Abby is made from aluminum and has heated windows and aircon

but will still ride in the gold state coach afterwards

The Gold State Coach, which weighs 4000 kg and is pulled by eight horses, is known for its notoriously rough ride.

Elizabeth described it as “horrible”, Queen Victoria complained of its “distressing oscillation”, and William IV – known as the Sailor King – said it was like “being aboard a ship tossing in a rough sea”.

half the reason i follow the royal family is because the sparkles cheer me up
i dont care i will never be ale to afford to buy a taiarra befitting of Queen Mary
i just get pleasure from seeing it all worn
i dont feel that way towards Kikki macdonald (although i do love Cam's golden kiwi necklace made in Nelson NZ by Jens Hansen -and i just fanited seeing the price as its gone up so much with the current price of gold, after i googled his website to check the spelling)
