not a lot of jewellery so American World War II veteran Kenneth Thayer can be the gem as he returned on Thursday to the tiny Dutch village that he and others in the 30th Infantry Division liberated from Nazi occupation exactly 80 years ago.

HRH's hair is like Queen Camila's in that it hides her ears
day three we did get earrings
i know that HRH has serous health issues and maybe jewellery is a hassle or the weight of some give her head aches or add to her feeling unwell some days

something i love about following the royals is i learn so much about other countries and also history
im interested in WW2 and i learn something new so often, i usually have to then google as so many articles only want to talk about shoes and clothes - but its a start

this day the king was feeling unwell so the lovely Queen of the Belgians stepped in for her husband

On September 9, 2024, Queen Mathilde of Belgium attended a memorial ceremony on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the city of Liège at the national cemetery Enclos des Fusillés de la Citadelle (Field of Honor of the Executed). Liège was liberated by the British Second Army in September 1944. In 1946, a memorial was established to those who had been executed in the citadel during World Wars I and II.
This field of honor contains 419 graves of people who were killed by the Wehrmacht or Waffen-SS during World War II, as well as that of the chaplain of the Liège citadel, Mr. Canon Mathieu Voncken. The citadel was mainly used as a detention and execution site for patriots and members of the resistance during World War II

Replying to myself: some sites claim it's the 2.6 mm version, but, from pictures, I'm inclined to believe it's the 2 mm version.

I think that Princess Mette-Marit is just a no-jewelry person.

so the Duchess of Gloucester has been at the Davis cup but i can only find one picture of her and i cant see any bling, her and her Prince have been in the court ciricular this week but i cant find any news stories

Princess Anne and Sophie are out of the country this week
Not sure where the Princess royal is up to
but Sophie is off to Tanzania so we should get some modest jewellery and some respectful summery clothes

So our Dear Sophie is out and about doing good in our late Queen's beloved Commonwealth
for once an article about HRH's work, not clothes and shoes etc
its hard to see her jewellery but all was very respectful

Okay, so it's not all Fergie's fault (other than she chose to wear the dress) Apparently, it is just a poorly designed/constructed gown.

i dont dislike Sarah other than she has been a bit of a loose cannon over the years, but she is a good mum and i would think grandma too
i thought she looked good in the dress, im sure i posted it a few days ago
Sarah has always been very hit and miss with clothes

that's why i never linked the article comparing the Duchess with the Dutch heir, its really unfair of that newspaper compairing a very young lady with one 40 odd years older
i remember back in the day my mum getting mad at the press always compairing Fergie to Diana, the poor girl went from being a breath of fresh air to being known by some horrible nick names in a very short space of time
Fergie is a long way from perfect but the late Queen seemed to be really found of her and must have forgiven her, her indisgressions,

one thing we didnt know to think about at the time is Diana pretty much had unlimited resources to buy clothes via the duchy of Cornwall,
Fergie's was a navy wife and im pretty sure the avaerage recently married prince has no idea how much woman's clothes cost and how when a royal lady wears anything twice - even in 2024 its news

i wish i could see Fergie better in this picture
and i wonder what that sparkly looking diamond thing is in Sarah's hair ?
1726778939590.png

im a little sad to find this
not that it wasnt nice for the choosen charity, i guess the Princess knew she was never going to wear it again
but this makes me glad i incorporated my much more modest childhod silver N pendant into a new necklace with moss agate and FW pearls

but shame - we wont be seeing that on Charlotte
i have no idea how old this is, i just googled for a photo
i hope someone has cleaned it,
it would be so cool if people wore these like they do the B necklaces
1726784613111.png
hmmmm Diana must have had two
maybe Charlotte might wear one one day ?

Description

Diana's "D"—a personally-owned necklace

Princess Diana's personally-owned and -worn sterling silver necklace, featuring a charm in the shape of her first initial, "D," studded with clear stones, suspended from a chain measuring 17″ long. This was likely worn during her teenage years, as Diana was known to wear chokers and was photographed with a "D" necklace as a teenager (although we could not locate this exact one in images). In fine condition, with some tarnishing to chain. Accompanied by a color copy of a transmittal letter sent by Diana on June 15, 1997, donating this item, along with several others, to a charity auction; she lists a "Sterling Silver 'D' Necklace" as number 18 on her itemized list. An outstanding, personal item from the ever-stylish Diana.
